The Neighborhood:

Sailboat Bend is a historic neighborhood located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Here's a breakdown of its key characteristics:

Location: Nestled between the New River and the F.E.C. Railroad tracks, Sailboat Bend boasts a unique waterside location.

History: Designated as the only historic district in Fort Lauderdale, Sailboat Bend offers a glimpse into the city's early development. Established in the early 1900s, it was originally a haven for working-class residents.

Character: Sailboat Bend is known for its charming, smaller houses with architectural styles reflecting the region's traditions. The neighborhood offers a vibrant and diverse atmosphere.

Attractions: While not directly on the beach, Sailboat Bend provides easy access to the New River and its waterways. The neighborhood itself offers a variety of restaurants, bars, and coffee shops, catering to a young professional crowd. The Broward Center for the Performing Arts is also located nearby.

Overall, Sailboat Bend provides a unique and characterful experience for those seeking an alternative to the typical Fort Lauderdale beachfront location.

Getting Around:

Fort Lauderdale offers a variety of ways to get around, depending on your needs and budget:

Public Transportation:

Broward County Transit (BCT): The BCT bus system covers most of Fort Lauderdale and connects to nearby cities. Fares are affordable, and some routes, like the Sun Trolley, are free (with exceptions).

Water Taxi: Explore the city's waterways and access waterfront restaurants and attractions with the water taxi service.

Tri-Rail: This commuter train connects Fort Lauderdale with Miami and West Palm Beach, offering a convenient option for longer trips.

Ridesharing:

Uber and Lyft: Popular ridesharing services operate in Fort Lauderdale, providing a convenient and affordable way to get around, especially at night or for short distances.

Other Options:

Rental Cars: Renting a car gives you the most flexibility, but be prepared for parking costs, especially in popular areas.

Bicycles: Fort Lauderdale offers bike lanes and a relatively flat terrain, making it a good option for exploring specific areas or taking a leisurely ride.

Walking: The beach area and some neighborhoods are walkable, allowing you to experience the city at a slower pace.

Consider these factors when choosing your mode of transportation:

Budget: Public transportation and walking are the most budget-friendly options.

Distance: For longer distances, consider ridesharing or renting a car.

Time: Public transportation can take longer than taxis or ridesharing services.

Convenience: Ridesharing and taxis offer door-to-door service, while public transportation requires walking to stops.

Traffic: Factor in potential traffic congestion, especially during peak hours, when choosing between driving and public transportation.

By considering these options and your priorities, you can choose the best way to get around Fort Lauderdale and experience all it has to offer.

Other Things to Note:

We take great pride in maintaining a clean and comfortable space for our guests. Our team follows strict cleaning protocols, and we regularly fumigate the property to keep it pest-free. However, due to Florida’s warm climate, high humidity, and the property's proximity to the water, it’s common for local insects, including the occasional roach, to make an appearance—even after our best efforts.

Most of the time, you might find them already deceased as a result of our regular pest control. While this is a rare occurrence, we believe in being transparent. If you’re particularly sensitive to insects and this could impact your stay, we suggest considering another option to ensure your comfort.

The home itself was awesome, the owners-responsive, I didn't use the kitchen, not sure about that. The bathroom needs updating. I believe the walls had OLD smoke from someone previously, or maybe the walls need cleaning/painting. The young neighbors don't follow the rules of parking OR noise. I didn't mind the noise much, because the walls were pretty good at blocking majority of it...but the parking situation was inconsiderate and unnecessary. Would love to stay again, I've been in worst environments, but I'd like for the old smoke smell to be handled FIRST though. The parking is understood, as long as nobody is hot-headed or drunk, then you're good.

Awesome set up and location! Not terribly overpriced considering he area, though there were no washers and dryers as listed, which was a road bump due to me being down for surgery, and having to go to a Laundromat. Though it was remedied by the fact the property did provide ample towels, dish soap, and the basics. The wifi wasn't awesome so I ended up burning through my data, but I was greatful for the beautiful neighborhood and quiet neighbors. The tv was awesome, and I loved the variety of pillows. I would stay with this company again.

The space was good. Exactly as pictured. Bathroom tub needs some updating. Make sure you read the entire description. Especially the last paragraph or two. Otherwise, pretty good stay.

Great location and nicely kept. Simple decor with no frills. We found the couch a bit I comfortable, but the bed and pillows were fine. The WiFi was inaccessible for the first day and the host took a long time to respond to messages. The coffee pot didn’t work properly. We were there for a five day stay and only two packets of single serve coffee were available. I suppose this condo was appropriate value for the high season.
