Stayed Dec 20, 2025We arrived well after midnight, but check-in was a breeze. First impressions of the condo? Whisper-quiet. No fan hum, no AC rattle, no neighbour noise. If you’re a light sleeper like me, this place is gold. The layout is excellent—private, accessible, and topped off with a breathtaking view. The balcony easily fits four adults, and with our boys at 19 and 21, it’s worth noting the condo is genuinely comfortable for four grown adults (two couples would be perfect too). The moment we opened the balcony door and heard the surf, we knew we were in heaven. And then—wait… is that a whale? Yup. Whale spotted within 30 seconds. Welcome to paradise. But honestly, even a perfect condo is secondary—this place is all about the BEACH. Huge, private, and never crowded. I’ve seen 5,000 people on beaches this size; most days here there were maybe 12–30. Sandy entry, gentle surf—safe for kids and great for anyone with mobility concerns. Not us though. I’m here for turtles and tropical fish. About 20 feet out, the reef begins, and I snorkeled two or three times a day, usually along the south spit near the condo. Green sea turtles every time and roughly 30 species of fish. Stay here and skip the snorkeling tour—this bay is the tour. The only downside? Leaving… and immediately planning our return.

Stayed Nov 18, 2023First thing - the property was clean - esp. the bathroom - made a whole lot of difference! No insects or roaches - which was the case in other places we'd stayed in Oahu and Maui. Next, the kitchen - lots of pots, pans, cutlery, plates, etc. Next - communication: Gerry is prompt in responding and resolving the issues. We didn't meet him in person, but it wasn't necessary, he always responded :) About other positives, the Hawaiin Princess property felt very safe - all entry/exit are secured and require key. While there is a 24x7 security guard, during our stay, the area in general felt safe. The people we met at Grocery store (Tamura) and at restaurants nearby were friendly and welcoming. Yes, there are homeless people by the beach, etc., but they didn't bother us. They didn't wander into the beach area of the property either. Though the beach is open to public, it seemed private - only folks from the properties seemed to be using it. Only minor thing was the day-bed - wasn't comfortable, after emailing Gerry, discovered the airbed, which was way better. And, oh, the commute - since Makaha is on the West end of the island, and most of the places to visit are on the Windward side, you will be driving a lot - through school zone with speeds of 25mph, though the locals don't seem to follow it that stritcly :) Then again, it is Hawaii, so if you take it easy and relaxed, and you will enjoy the drive too. When we visit Oahu again, we will definitely stay here.

Stayed Jul 25, 2023The view is stunning! With the beautiful beach right at the building, what a great place to stay! Comes with all the things we need, including beach gears! Bed in the room was very comfortable. The only thing needs updating would be the sofa bed. It was sloping to one end, mattress was thin and could feel the bars when lying down. Overall a fantastic place to stay!

Stayed Apr 2, 2026We absolutely loved our stay. The view from the balcony is jaw dropping and we were treated to one perfect sunset after the next. We could even watch whales playing while we had cocktails. We were a family of four. We gave our kids the bedroom so we could listen to the ocean every night which put us right to sleep. The unit itself was very clean and obviously well maintained. The building staff were helpful and courteous. The beach is second to none. We swam with turtles using the masks and flippers provided. It was so nice not to have to bring or buy gear, chairs, umbrella. Kitchen had everything needed for most vacation cooking, but we mostly ate poke. We didn’t use the community grills, but it’s cool that it’s an option. Checking in and out was easy-peasy and host was helpful and clear.

Stayed Jan 26, 2026Hidden Gem!! This is our 2nd time staying at The Hawaiian Princess, first time in this unit. Great communication, easy contactless check-in and check-out with clear instructions. This unit is beautiful, updated, clean, well stocked with everything you may need...and the bed was so comfortable! Appreciate it had beach chairs, beach umbrella, boogie boards, even a cooler. It's amazing to be able to have a panoramic view and be on a beautiful beach at an affordable price. We even saw humpback whales and giant sea turtles every day. All the staff were helpful and friendly and we met many nice residents and guests. We always felt safe and secure. We hightly recommend doing the Ka-ena Point Hike (it's about 5 miles out & back, mostly flat) it's a nature reserve for Albatross (Nov-July I believe), amazing. We also recommend L&L Hawaiian BBQ, it's a couple miles away, doesn't look like much, take-out, but the BBQ chicken plate is great, we'd bring it back and have a sunset dinner! We didn't want our 9 day trip to end, we'd love to make this a yearly tradition, we hope to stay in this unit again.

Stayed Apr 28, 2025Amazing!!!! The views are stunning, the AC/fans are ice cold and the condo was super clean. Host Gerry has thought of everything you could ever want and need and put it into the condo. Gerry is also very accommodating as well. Seriously I have no complaints. I love west Oahu as it is away from the hustle and bustle of Honolulu. Of course there’s traffic (it’s inevitable on Oahu) but do your research and plan your day around it and you’ll be fine. The views from the lanai are to die for. And the beaches will leave you breathless. I 1000% will be back and stay here again. Mahalo nui loa Gerry!!!!

Stayed Feb 7, 2025Condo inside was very good but property is about 60 yards from a homeless camp set up on the side of the beach. There were over a dozen campsites set up and these people had unleashed dogs wandering around on the beach. The homeless camp was in direct view from the lanai. The owner should have disclosed this on the description of his property. Also the owner took over 12 hours to respond to concerns about broken chairs and appliances. Communication should have been more prompt. I understand the Hawaiian laws that allow a homeless camp to exist next to a resort property is not the owners fault but potential renters should be made aware.I would not return to this location unless the homeless camp situation is resolved.JW

Stayed Dec 21, 2024We had a wonderful stay in this beach front condo. The views from the balcony were absolutely beautiful! The owner was wonderful to work with. The condo itself is up to date and comfortable. The west side of Oahu is less busy and we liked that too. The whole stay was a fun time!

Stayed Nov 20, 2024We wanted to spend some time on Oahu but not in the bustle of Waikiki. This is certainly the spot for it. Right on the beach with far less people than Waikiki with swimming and snorkeling just off the beach. The next bay around has an area known as turtle rock and we frequently saw turtles in the water. You can do as little or as much as you want, either take a book to the beach and sit in the sun until the amazing sunset occurs or pack your walking shoes and drive the along the road until you can't and there are amazing walks. The drive along the coast is beautiful. Just two things, as the owner says, go to the supermarket before you check in. Also there is a connecting door which does increase the noise when there are people next door. If you want to escape the rat race, this is the place for you.

Stayed Oct 30, 2024Magnificent property in all aspects. Best VRBO we have ever experienced . We lived next door to this complex 50 years ago as newlyweds and this return to this paradise was fantastic. The owner is very accommodating to all the guest's needs but did not bother us at all. The unit is comfortable and well maintained, well decorated and is perfect for two people possibly 4. The beach and pool are fantastic. Hawaii sun is harsh but there is plenty of shady areas. Enjoyed this immensely complete with half century memories. Thank you

Stayed Sep 8, 2024This property was out and away from town for sure. It was a great secluded location. This did make food options less convenient, but that didn’t affect our stay. We engaged with the locals and enjoyed their local food and traditions. The views from this condo are unlike any other. The incredible mountains on all three sides except the ocean view directly west. It is a breathtaking view. The ocean in the bay would crash against the rocks close by and provide the large splash waves you hear so much about. The difference is they are right outside your door. The condo was very well stocked with all essential items for our stay and to prepare meals conveniently. The entertainment options were good with local Spectrum cable in both the den and bedroom. Netflix was provided on the cable box but Hulu and other services were not. Gerry is VERY helpful and gives great advise on local places, traffic and other details. I highly recommend this condo for your next romantic getaway.

Stayed Jul 23, 2024My husband and I stayed at this property for 12 days for our honeymoon and it was incredible! Gerry is a wonderful host who was always quick to reply to our messages throughout our vacation! The condo sits on a BEAUTIFUL beach that is so quiet! It is really nice to get away from the business of the city. All touristy areas were about 45 minutes to an hour away so having a rental car is definitely a must! The condo was exceptionally clean and well stocked, and the views from the lanai can’t be beat! This condo has the best sunset view on the island, whether it be on the lanai or down at the beach! Overall it was the most perfect honeymoon and we will definitely be renting through Gerry again!

Stayed Jul 16, 2024Gorgeous beach and condo. So close to the ocean it is almost unbeliveable. Beach is beautiful, and the area is very peaceful. Everyone were extremely helpful and all local residents were so kind, and helpful, and always smiling. Really a special experience. Definitely not an area where turists hang out. The condo was well stocked with everything from coffee filters to a hairdryer, beach chairs, snorkel and fins, basically whatever you need. Driving all over the island is pretty easy, just avoid rush hour to and from Honolulu. We drover all over the island, and loved the North Shore, and not to forget, driving on the H3 highway that is mindblowingly (if that is a word), beautiful. I recommend the Paradise Cove Luau in Ko Olina. It is s short drive and worth every penny. Also, the Lantern Restaurant, just a couple miles down the road, is an ourstanding place to eat. The entertainment on weekends is fantastic, and waiting staff is insanely kind, and helpful. Mahalo, we really loved this special place, we just don;t know how we are ever going to fall asleep again without listening to the sound of the waves!
