Stayed Oct 27, 2023This was a very odd experience compared to all of the other short term rentals I’ve stayed at. At the day and time of checkin, the unit was not available and the landlord did not send access information. Further, the address that they have listed online for this unit is NOT the address of the actual property. It turns out that this landlord was breaking the HOAs rules in having a short term rental and having the incorrect address listed helped keep them under the radar from getting caught. When I reached out, rather than the actual contact person listed on VRBO reaching out, I get a call from his MOM. (You can’t make this stuff up). She gave excuses about not knowing it was illegal and that she thought my stay was canceled. It wasn’t. And we had two hours to get into the unit, shower and change, and then head to a wedding. One SUPER odd thing that came up when talking to mom is that the owner of this unit is a high school aged boy (who also happens to be a football kicker and she felt compelled to share?). This further confused us and seems highly unprofessional and inappropriate. Hopefully mom and son have managed to work with the HOA around short term rentals but in the meantime, the safer option is to avoid this unit.
