Hanalei Colony Resort J3 is a tranquil, off-the-beaten-path retreat on Kaua'i's far North Shore, perfect for those seeking a peaceful escape surrounded by natural beauty! This charming, vintage-style condo features two bedrooms, with the option to use the second bedroom to sleep a third guest or as a remote office, a fully appointed kitchen, and a light-filled living and dining area that opens to breathtaking ocean views. You'll find another sleeper sofa in the living room, allowing you to comfortably accommodate up to four guests. The shaded balcony lanai offers outdoor seating for 2, and the perfect spot to take in an island sunrise with your morning coffee! Please note, the bedrooms are separated from the main living space by sliding shoji screens, offering visual privacy but not soundproofing.

The amenities at Hanalei Colony Resort make this the perfect spot for a slow-paced vacation. Walk just a few steps and you're right on a warm, sandy beach away from any crowds! You can walk along the golden sands until you come to the end of the road at Ke'e Beach, or you can spend a day by the pool and hot tub, lounging in the sun and grilling in the outdoor kitchen. If you need to truly unwind and pamper yourself, the Hanalei Day Spa is just across the parking lot and offers some incredible services (can you say beachside couple's massage ). You'll also find the Gaia restaurant on site for some tasty seaside bites, as well as the Na Pali Art Gallery & Coffee Shop where you can peruse beautiful local art and jewelry while enjoying a morning brew.

For those of us that like to get out and about, Hanalei Colony Resort is still close to many attractions. Take a quick 15 minute drive and you're in the heart of Hanalei town, with its charming boutiques, restaurants, and cafes. Grab a bite to eat or a shave ice before heading to the iconic beaches of Hanalei Bay for the day. Tunnels Beach, perfect for snorkeling, is only 3 minutes away driving, or 20 minutes on foot if you prefer to hoof it. Ha'ena Beach is just another 3 minutes down the road, and is a hidden gem with pristine waters and incredible sunsets. You're also just 10 minutes away from the Limahuli Gardens & Preserve, which offer an introduction into native Hawaiian culture and its ties to the natural landscape, against a backdrop of dramatic mountains and the Pacific Ocean. For any basic grocery needs, as well as delicious sandwiches, acai bowls, coffee, and shave ice, head 3 minutes down the road to the Wainiha Country Market. You'll also find a lovely selection of local goodies you won't be able to resist!

Please note that Hanalei Colony Resort was built in simpler times in a more remote location. The resort was designed with the untouched environment as the main draw, and does not offer all the luxuries of modern resorts. There is no dishwasher and no TV in the unit (although there is Wi-Fi), and it takes longer to access the rest of the island. Drive time to Princeville and Kilauea is roughly 30 minutes, to the East Side (where the airport is) is 70 minutes, and to the South Shore is over 90 minutes. We highly recommend renting a car, as third party guests are unfortunately NOT able to use the resort shuttle services. We do, however, encourage guests to take advantage of the North Shore Shuttle, which services locations such as the Wainiha Country Market, Limahuli Gardens, and Ha'ena State Park. The shuttle will pick you up right in the parking lot of Hanalei Colony Resort (super convenient!), and advance reservations are required.

This is an upstairs unit. You must be able to go up and down 2.5 flights of stairs (roughly 25 steps) to access the unit. There are no elevators.

As with most homes on Kauai, this vacation rental is NOT air conditioned, however there are ceiling fans in each space to help with air flow.

Although this home has internet, the speed and reliability cannot be guaranteed due to the remote location and the service being provided by a third-party.

Note: host requires all guests, whether they book directly or via a third party website, to complete a rental agreement within 3 days of booking.

It is advertised as 2 bedroom 2 bath. The reality is that it is 1 bedroom with a queen bed and another room with a pull out sofa plus 1 1/2 baths. Otherwise the second floor condo has a beautiful view of the ocean, it is quite a walk from the parking lot to the condo but they do have wagons to use to move you stuff from the car to the unit. the condo was well equipped with kitchen items and boogie boards. The pool area beautiful!

The frying pans are old and unhealthy ( old scratched Teflon). Please replace them. There is no cutting board but I didn't use your bar top for one. Only choice was the tile ( will dull the knives). The front right burner does not work. The king bed was comfortable and the location lovely for sitting on the deck. If this was my property, I'd clean the mold off the deck and repaint it:) please be aware that the bathroom light in the small bathroom shines in the eyes of sleeping guests across the yard!! They told us:) So tell others to keep it off when they aren't using it.

The property manager was very responsive. You can hear the beautiful sound of waves rolling in. No AC but ceiling fans and a good cross breeze in May kept it comfortable. Be aware there is no TV so bring devices to stream. WiFi is 2G with access to weaker 5G. No dishwasher in the unit but otherwise the kitchen was well stocked for our needs. The complex itself was quiet but an annoying neighborhood dog at one point, started at 5:30 am. The unit can benefit from frequent window cleanings.

Great location! Fantastic views and proximity to world class beaches. Definitely the place to stay if you want to experience the quiet garden island life. A few whiffs of the property septic system came a went but nothing overbearing or uncommon for the north island. I would return.

Gorgeous views. Sleep to crashing waves. On site restaurant Gaia is excellent. The condo is not new ... its worn. Everything works, we loved it, but if your accustom to 4 or 5 star hotels you need to lower the bar a bit.

The ocean view was great from the lanai! - great location and very convenient to all the sites on the north shore! Having the coffee shop and restaurant on the premises was a great bonus. We enjoyed our stay at this older hotel that continues to be well maintained.

The location is perfect! Enjoyed the deck, the kitchen, the living room, and 2 bathrooms! There were ample towels and 2 beach chairs and an umbrella provided. We loved the constant sound of the ocean and the quietness of our neighbors.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: My wife and I stayed at Hanalei Colony for 8 nights at the end of March and we loved the beautiful view of the ocean and wonderful sunrise each morning. The location provides a nice restaurant and coffee shop on property that both offered great quality and friendly service. Saw and spoke with many locals each morning while grabbing coffee. The resort was very clean and staff were friendly. If you’re looking for a place to have some peace and stay apart from the larger crowds with less people, this is the place. Although it is away from larger areas, just a short 10-20 minute drive gets you to Hanalei and Princeville that offer plenty of restaurants, shopping and grocery supplies. We really enjoyed our stay and hope to be back again!

This is a beautiful secluded rental right on the beach. It is a bit rustic with minimal amenities but you don’t need much when you are on the beach. Be aware that it is past the Hanalei bridge which has a possibility of flooding and closing the road. This was a stressor for our stay since we were there during an unusual Kona storm, but the bridge remained open and we were told it rarely happens. Overall I recommend if you are looking for a more secluded vacation.

Overall reviews of this property from others are pretty acurate with these additional comments about our stay: -The wonderful view of the ocean was spoiled by dirty windows and screens. -A strong septic/sewer smell around the building at times depending on the breeze.

The views from the second floor deck are fabulous. Although there was no AC, the ceiling fans were very good circulating air. The bed was comfortable. The remote location is a good setting. Pool area redone and very nice. Restaurant was closed. The condo is old and not updated. Window seals broken and inoperative window closures. Kitchen marginal. We will not be staying here again.

The resort property is well maintained, quiet, and beautiful. The staff was friendly. We loved having breakfast on the porch every morning listening to the waves and watching the misty rain. Snorkeling gear was provided and Tunnels Beach was close. Absolutely wonderful.

Our stay was everything we hoped for. The view was fantastic, and the unit was nice and well-stocked with cooking supplies and recreational gear. We swam at the beach just west of the complex, it was safe in most conditions and there was some nice coral. Dinner at the Opakapaka was great. We have real affection for this place now and hope to return sometime.

Phenomenal location and beautiful condo! Spacious, great floor plan (the “rooms” are on opposite sides), plenty of sitting room all with direct views of the ocean. The kitchen was well stocked for a family that likes to cook. Plenty of towels and a ton of beach equipment for our family of three. Ashley quick walk to the beach area to the left, was better snorkeling than Tunnels Beach. Hanalei Bay is about a 10 minute drive and it had fantastic food, shopping, lots of boutiques, and plenty of rentals for the day. Others commented that the condo was outdated. It was one of the original resorts on that end of the island. I’m thankful it hasn’t been updated to today’s modern style. I would lose the local island charm, and the prices would double! They only updates that would be nice. Would be new beach chairs. But you can rent Tommy Bahamas from one of the shops in Hanalei for four dollars a day.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We loved this open-air unit on the North Shore. It was well-equipped with all the beach items one would need as well as many kitchen necessities. The bed was soft and the the bathrooms clean. The room is so light and bright, and it was a great spot to watch those colorful sunrises! Please note that the beach directly in front of the place is not a swimmable beach with lots of rocks and strong waves. However, you can get wet to your ankles, if you choose. :) But the pool, hot tub, outdoor kitchen, and garden area is quite lovely. It's all about location when on vacation, and this was a great spot to access the Napali Coast for hiking and beaching it, and go to Hanalei for food and essentials. We had read reviews about it being outdated, but I don't think so. It's what we imagine Hawaii should be. We didn't miss the TV or air conditioning at all and our Wifi was fine. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting a great place to rest and a more authentic Hawaiian experience.

Incredible views from the balcony/ deck overlooking the Pacific Ocean!!! Fantastic location with close proximity to Tunnels Beach, Haena SP, Napali SP, and the town of Hanalei. Beautiful resort property with a restaurant as well as a massage therapist within a 1 minute walk. We had a beachside couples massage that was AMAZING!!!!

Overall we enjoyed the condo . A storm came in and we lost power off and on which made it difficult to cook or charge phones. Also the condo is remote and so there were concerns we could be stranded if bridge went out. The remoteness also made it nice because there were no crowds or lines. Just know that to get to a town it’s an15 min drove.

Awesome spot right next to the waves. If you're not into salt spray or the sound of the ocean, you might go elsewhere, but there's no better complex on the northshore if you want to get close to the ocean action. Staff was helpful in the check-in process, and we didn't need anything during our stay. The louver dividers and kitchen bar could use some attention, but it must be a chore to stay ahead of the salt in the air from being so close to the surf. Would strongly recommend, and would stay again!

The units are comfortable and dated. Our unit was clean and also difficult to see out windows due to humidity, and salt build up (which I imagine is difficult to combat due to location). We enjoyed our stay but would be unlikely to return to this location.
