Privately Owned remodeled condo On property of La Costa Resort. One of a kind!!

Property looks visually cute online. After you arrive you begin to see the issues. The owner will respond to this saying I did not tell them children were coming. This is true when I booked (an oversight on my part) however, I clearly told them in our communications that we were coming as a family with children. The unit is shown as something a family would stay in, with a bunk bed and two fold down couches in addition to the main bed. We would have continued our stay here however the beds outside of the main King were terribly uncomfortable. The unit was not cleaned well, dog hair and food in the crevices of the fold down couches (kinda gross). Linens and blankets were stained (also kinda gross). The coffee maker had mold inside of it. After one nights sleep I asked the owner about the issues. They kindly offered a refund. I was thinking full refund, but an oversight on my part again. I was refunded for the nights we did not continue to stay there. Because of this VRBO did not refund all our money and we ended up paying around 700 for one very inconvenient night. Initially when we were booking, the owners were so friendly but after the issues we had and me attempting to communicate them. The owner got a little rude and told me that we were just trying to get a free night and then stay at a hotel there. This doesn't really make any sense. Why would I go through all that trouble? Which is what this stay was at their unit, just a lot of trouble. I wish these people well and hopefully they can improve the unit and be a little more professional in the future.
