Settle in, because this is a long-ish review. TL;DR: The location is poor. The host is even worse. Do not stay here (or anywhere with this host). I'll start by splitting this review into 2 parts; One about the Hotel, and the other about the Host. The Hotel (2 of 5 stars): The majority of our room was nice. Well lit, plenty of sleeping space. But its more like a Motel 6. The door was broken and looked like it was kicked in by an angry drunkard (the entire lower section of the door was folded inwards until there was a gap even when the door was closed). The lights in the main bedroom would flicker on like we were in a Steven King horror novel. The refrigerator didn't work great (didnt get cold until day 2 of our 2.5 day stay). Roaches seen everywhere. The host claimed there were Mini-fridges in each room, which is completely false. The photo on the listing is also fake (that's definitely not the rooms we stayed in). The service was pretty bad. Most of the staff don't speak english. The restaurant onsite was also pretty mediocre. The Host (1 of 5 stars): Let me tell you about the wonderful person, Nancy. Here is the story: Its 10PM a week before Memorial day. I spend a lot of money on this place for me and my friends to stay at for the long weekend. At 10:15PM, I get a call about a Family emergency. I need to go visit my parents back in my home state. But I just spent a ton of money on a trip I can't attend, how am I supposed to afford a plane ticket? I frantically send Nancy a message. No response. The next morning, I call her. The phone line is dead. I send her an email. No response for hours. I call Vrbo, and they give me another number to try. No answer. I leave a voice mail. No response. I send a cancellation request. No response. I call Vrbo again. They directly call her, and apparently she answers Vrbo's phone call (but not mine) to say Sorry there is nothing I can do (Mind you, this is Memorial Day Weekend, the BUSIEST time of year for South Padre. I was watching places get booked in real time on Vrbo). So I am freaking out, trying to figure out how to fly back home to see my family. I end up agreeing to give up my spot to another friend, and I contact Nancy to ask if I could transfer my booking details to my friend. Guess what? She responds within 20 minutes... She only cares about money, not the guests. She didn't even have the decency to tell me directly Sorry, no cancellations... Moral of the story? Dont book this place.

We wanted to love this place, however, we experienced enough frustrations to leave a day early. If you are considering this condo, here are some things you should know: The condo itself was clean, the beach view was great and there was direct access to the beach, but the beds/furniture were incredibly uncomfortable. The building is older so we were woken up nightly by the people above us and hot temperatures. The Wi-Fi didn't work at times. When it did, it had very poor speed/signal. The master bedroom did not have extra plugs to charge electronics, so I had to unplug the lamp to charge my phone. They played 80’s music daily, often starting around 8:00 and ending around 10:00. Smokers smoked in the pool and some left cigarette butts in the water. Communication was lacking, including directions to get to the entrance (luggage loading/unloading area) and check-in process. The parking lot is quite far from the condo so if you have a lot of luggage, you will want to drive to the front right of the parking lot then drive onto the path to get to the loading area. They were short on keys and pool towels. It took four tries (between two days) just to get four towels for our party of 7. They had exactly 7 on our 4th try, but insisted they needed to save the other 3 for their other guests. They required adults to wear paper wrist bands with the condo number written on it during the stay. We placed 2 Amazon orders not realizing the address provided was the address to the entire resort, not the condo itself. The staff claimed they never received our orders but we eventually figured out they were placed in the white mailbox at the resort entrance. The staff apparently does not check the mailbox and told us to check the mailbox ourselves. Our stay included complimentary breakfast at their restaurant Las Olas, but one morning we returned for breakfast and was told in Spanish by the manager working the breakfast shift that our condo did not include the complimentary breakfast. Fortunately, another employee was able to translate between us and explain our VRBO reservation included breakfast. She had to confirm this before we got our breakfast that morning. Another day I tried to order virgin Pina coladas for my 4 teens and this same manager told me no in Spanish. Nobody was available to translate so I never found out why even though I watched other families on different days order the same drinks for their kids. For the $, we expected better.
