Please note that we allow cancellation and rescheduling (for available dates) with at least 3 days texted notice (through VRBO) of truly unsafe weather for crossing to OBB. Imagine be only 56 miles from Palm Beach, Florida, on a serene, Bahamian Resort. Known for its spectacular oceanfront setting, Old Bahama Bay was awarded the Four-Diamond Award by the American Automobile Association (AAA).

Each suite is an over-sized, junior suite (550 square feet+120 sq. ft. oceanfront balcony) with beachfront terrace and fabulous ocean views. Availability is typically not a problem for at least 1 of our 3 suites. For that reason we do not display bookings on our rental calendar. Options for adjoining/connecting suite rentals can be discussed with owner.

The Resort charges all guests a $20/day/suite Resort fee and a one-time, $35/suite departure cleaning fee. Both are payable to the Resort at checkout, and are not included in our rental rate.

The Resort has been selling out completely, well in advance, for summer weekends and Holidays. Some holiday weekends may be blocked on the rental calendar.

Return from a day on the beach to fresh seafood, served Bahamian-style, in the marina restaurant or the beachside tiki hut restaurant/bar just steps from the ocean.

Old Bahama Bay is located on the very western tip of Grand Bahama Island and boasts miles of pristine beach and world-class snorkeling. Its 72 slip, state of the art, full-service marina offers night navigation with dockage for vessels up to 120 feet. Our luxury beach cottage suite is located in one of twelve Bahamian-style buildings, each with six suites facing the Atlantic Ocean and about 40 ft. from the beach.

Following is a Miami Herald article about Old Bahama Bay:

By Cheryl Blackerby Special to the Miami Herald

I’m sitting in the shade of a coconut palm on Old Bahama Bay’s white sand beach. I have a lot on my mind. Like when will the tide force me to move my chair And when will hunger finally compel me to walk 100 feet to get that hamburger in paradise

All in good time.

A yacht cruises into view. I can see the bow and then slowly the rest of the behemoth as it turns. I wonder who’s on this big girl. The hamburger can wait.

Only about 80 nautical miles across the Gulf Stream from Miami and 55 from Palm Beach, this compound including an inn and villas is strung along a beach on the western tip of Grand Bahama Island near the fishing village of West End.

Most people arrive by boat — yachts, fishing boats and sailboats. The 72-slip marina is a port of entry and many boaters pass through, some just stopping for a dinner of cracked conch or lobster at Old Bahama Bay Dockside Bar & Grill. Or a cheeseburger and conch fritters at the beachside Teaser’s Tiki Bar.

The inn’s 67 junior suites and six spacious two-bedroom suits are in two-story Bahamian-style buildings with terraces and balconies overlooking a gorgeous white-sand beach.

The inn has a new dive shop, but bonefishing and offshore fishing trips remain the top attractions. And there are enough beach toys to keep me busy for a week — sailfish, Hobie Cats, kayaks, bicycles, and snorkeling gear.

When we got to our room, there was a scent of mildew or mold throughout. We purchased air sanitizer to combat the odor, but had to constantly spray. We tried to notify the office, but the phone didn't work, so I went down to notifify them of the odor and asked someone to fix the issue. The office sent someone up, but they couldn't smell it because we just sprayed again right before they got there. After the third night, they finally moved us to a new room when I let the one members know this was a lawsuit waiting to happen. We also told the office that our heater wasnt' working, and they normally don't need heaters, but I would expect to have a working heater if we are paying for the place. They sent the maintenance guy, he said it was fixed, it wasn't. We called him back up and then he decided the heating element wasn't working. So, to sum it up, the smell of mold or mildew, no working heater, no working phone, and by day 2, I was sick as hell with cold sweats and chills, but yet no heater. I was wearing 4 layers of clothes at one point. And by day 3, my wife was as sick as I was. So, we went on what was supposed to be a great trip, ended up sick and pretty much stuck in our room..I contacted with Steve and letting him know what all was going on. He stated that's some of the reasons the room was at a highly discounted price. I requested a refund and was told it should be refunded by the 15th, and no refund as if now. We expect, and deserve better than this.

To be honest, the place is nothing close to a 4 stars hotel and needs a lot of improvements. I am still rating it 5 stars though, as the host has been very transparent from the beginning and also very responsive and accommodating. Also the price is aligned with what you get.If you are looking for a 5 stars experience, this is probably not for you though. There are numerous things that needs to be improved such as the water pressure in the shower, or the overall cleanliness / state of the resort. That being said we were there mostly to sleep and that worked out well - the bed was large and confortable and the room had a great view on the ocean. For the price, it was definitely worth it.And Steve (the host) was super accommodating and responsive - overall I would go back.

Rented twos room from Steve. Overall great location and trip. The rooms were identical so it was very apparent that one of the room's shower handle, water temperature and water pressure were not working properly and needed some attention, so much so that we were not able to use the shower in that room. Steve was very prompt and helpful in responding to this concern, however property staff were difficult to get a hold of for addressing the issue. When they did come to look at this issue while we were out for the day they reported that the water temperature was fine and I just needed to let the water run to warm up, they did nothing to address the water pressure issue. By this time we had a day or two left on the trip and a packed itinerary that simply did not leave a lot of time to track down and go back and forth with staff so we put up with going to the one room with the working shower. According to the booking description updates are anticipated in 2024 so assuming this issue will be one of them.

The view was spectacular. Saw turtles and lots of fish. The food was good at resort, but a little costly to eat every meal. Think at least 50 for 2 per meal. You will need to rent car because you will need to drive for most excursions. The owner was very attentative to our neeðs. We would recommend this condo.

West end has always been a great escape for us and it’s so easy being 59 miles from Jupiter. Communication was great and the room was nice with a perfect view of the ocean.

We were a bit hesitant about coming to this area in August, due to possible bad weather. We were very lucky and while we were there were some very hot and some very rainy weather, we were able to do everything we wanted to. We opted to stay on the property for the most part, several of our party took a diving trip out of Freeport, this time of year do you have to go there and not from the resort. The overall property of these units are a bit dated, but in the end, we all decided that was part of the charm. The natural beauty is what really sells this place. I’m not sure if anyone actually pays the rates the hotel charges, but these units are very well priced. We had 2 adjoining rooms, as we had our college aged twins with us. The kitchenette facilities are extremely limited, we made do, but it would be nice to be able to be provided with a little package of dish soap, a sponge and paper towels, there was no real way to clean up. We were also surprise there was no place to get ice, but then found we can get a large bag at the marina, but then had no place to put it. We never went offsite for dinner, and really enjoyed the dockside restaurant and the teasers bar for food and drinks. The staff is incredibly friendly, and helpful. Harold and Briana are to stand outs. Our kids took amazing underwater photos snorkeling, right on property. For those that can bring their own gear, that will probably be preferable as what the Hotel provides is pretty limited.

We've stayed at OBB many times previously and these rooms have the best view and layout that we've experienced. The owner is easy to interact with and is responsive. As usual, the fishing and diving were great and the resort and marina staff were extremely welcoming and helpful. Thank you for another great trip.

We stayed 11 Nights at this Wonderful Resort. It is Private and the beach was truly steps away from the room. We swam with sea turtles and saw many beautiful fish . The Staff was amazing and very welcoming and helpful. The Resturant service was excellent and food was delicious . We never felt the need to leave this wonderful resort . We read, snorkeled , swam at the pool and had delicious conch salad every day!
