Lucaya Freeport, Grand Bahama
Welcome to our Beachfront Bahamas Condos!
We love the Bahamas and enjoy our time there. When our apartment is empty, we offer it for rental to people who we hope will enjoy it as much as we do!
Our names are Liz & Don. We are the long time owners of unit #1503 VRBO 35737.
Please read our online reviews for units 1603, 1605 and 1503 (search Liz and Don Coral Beach) to see what our valued guests' experience has been! We take great pleasure and care in providing a clean and comfortable vacation rental to nice people. We enjoy getting to know each of our guests and we have established a friendship with many repeat guests!
1603/1605 is the unit that we have always wanted to own!! When it came up for sale we had to grab it! This property is unique at Coral Beach because it is two units that are rented together. They perfectly complement each other and offer double the space!
We have made several improvements since we bought it. It is the perfect location on the top floor of building one, facing the ocean. It features two large terraces. It also has a smaller balcony with a bistro table that's perfect for coffee or cocktails.
The pandemic created a unique situation where a location that normally would be bustling with tourists felt like an exclusive and private getaway. Grand Bahama/Freeport is taking covid very seriously so we felt the risk was very low during our stay. The beach out front was beautiful as was the weather. It rains but never for very long and only two times during a 10-day stay. We had two amazing authentic eating experiences (the fish fry and fresh conch salad) but other than that we were very happy to cook in the condo and go daily to the beach to relax. The naps were great too ;) Highly recommend. Wish more people could have this experience. Truly magical.
These 2 studios were perfect for my family of 4. Accessing the condo was simple and everyone in the building from the security to the other tenants were amazingly kind. We were blown away by the amazing views, the pristine beach, the great onsite restaurant (Sand Pipers) and all the fun times we had in Freeport. The 2 studios have everything and anything that you could possibly need from beach chairs and toys, to dishes, books and towels. The beds are very comfortable and we slept like logs all 4 nights. There is not enough room on this form to tell about all the great experiences we had in Freeport, but I will say the high lights were this: -Beautiful beach right there at the Condo Complex -Great Service and fun at Sandpipers (all the food is great) -half day charter with PK and his first mate Dante (highly recommend we snorkeled, fished, saw turtles and sharks) -Smiths Point Fish Fry and after dinner dancing with the DJ there -Dinner at Pier One and the shark feeding there--Pricey, but good -Fish pizza at Pisces in Port Lucaya, Zorbas in Port Lucaya grilled up the tuna we caught with PK and that was awesome -All the amazing and kind people we encountered in Freeport. Such an amazing place that we are already planning on visiting again soon! Coming back to reality was tough as I am still on 'Island Time'! Thank You for allowing us to stay at your place! The Gobena Family
This was our first visit to the Grand Bahamas. The below made the trip wonderful: Excellent communication with the owner, Don. Don's detailed information regarding arrival, food shopping, restaurants, etc invaluable. Our unit was very clean and stocked with necessary items. The staff were pleasant and helpful. Safety was never a concern. The pool area, private beach area, and pool deck restaurant was wonderful with pricing normal for the island. Walking on the beach was better than Turks and Caicos. Port Lacaya restaurants were awesome, however, it appears the island is hurting and some are closing. We rented a car to experience all the great places and restaurants on the island. We hope to return next winter and stay longer than 7 days.
We loved staying on Coral Beach! This was our second time and it is the perfect spot! The beach is gorgeous, the pool is refreshing, the snack shack is fun for drinks and lunch! If you rent a car, you can get all over the island and Coral Beach is centrally located. So close to the airport and Port Lucaya where you can do all the water excursions, shop and pick from many restaurants and bars. Since you have your own kitchen, you can save some money and hit the grocery store for breakfast foods and snacks. We would love to come again!!
My sisters and I have been taking our world traveler (now 95 year old) Mom to someplace south/warm for 9 years and she praised this island and Don & Liz's condo as her most favorite. We had both units which was perfect for 4 of us: lent easily to being together as well as having private space; Tv watchers could enjoy while non Tv watchers did not have to be in same space; it worked for early risers and late sleepers. Most of our time was spent outside on the condo decks, the magnificent beach, the local market, and touring the island. My personal favorite spot was the condo deck and balcony from which we experienced island breezes, beautiful view and BOTH sunrise and sunset with one step out the glass doors! This island is filled with the most generous and gracious people. We were fortunate Don's sister Karen was vacationing while we were there because she became our instant friend and island expert. Condo staff went out of their way plus Don and Liz were responsive to every question. One more huge benefit was the phone provided for unlimited calls to anywhere in the states. We toyed with buying a condo so that we could return regularly but this unit is the one we would want!
First impression, stained and very old and out of shape bedspread. Even the pillowcases have stains which is disgusting...Futon cover was nasty looking. When I pay to stay somewhere it should be pretty and inviting. I will not stay at this property again. Very dissatisfied. Also wasn't aware of how much we would have to pay taxi drivers every time we went somewhere.
This was our first time vacationing in the Bahamas. We were celebrating my sister’s birthday and looking for a place to relax and enjoy the sunshine. We certainly accomplished our goal at this condo! We rented both 1305 and 1303., there were 3 of us traveling together. The view was spectacular. We enjoyed easy access to the beach and convenience of the pool and pool side restaurant and bar. The island is definitely still recovering from Hurricane Matthew (2016) however that worked to our advantage. There were just enough people and we did not feel overcrowded at restaurants in Port Lucayan marketplace shops and restaurants. We walked to Port Lucaya marketplace several times and used taxi service other times. We found the local people friendly, reliable, and helpful. Don, the owner, was so accommodating and so helpful with questions as we prepared for our trip and while we were there. I highly recommend this condo if you are looking for a great escape and want to enjoy the beautiful beach and island.
The condo was beautiful and well stocked with everything we needed. The employees of Coral Beach hotel were so awesome! The elevator was broken and the condo is 70 steps up to the sixth floor. The security guard and a construction worker jumped right in and helped us carry our baggage and groceries up all those stairs! We highly recommend the 7 hr. jeep safari tour. Our tour guide and the adventure were well worth it! The beach off the condo is crystal clear and gorgeous! Thank you Don & Liz for helping us to have such a wonderful vacation! Don even called us a couple of times while we were there to make sure all was going well! Awesome vacation!
We stayed at Liz & Don's place the week of July 4. What a nice place. Sure the hurricane has devastated the island and took out the elevator, but this was the most relaxing, low stress vacation we were looking for. Don's restaurant recommendations were great (Zorbas, Pisces). We spent our days fishing(Native Son experience)and diving (Sunn Odyssey) and snorkeling. Our taxi driver (Michele:242-442-6068) was our personal tour guide. She would wait while we shopped for groceries, while we ate at the restaurants and hauled us to our dive boat. No extra charge! Don & Liz's condo was very nice with the best views from the balconies. It was comfortable for all five of us and was nicely furnished. The island is certainly hurting, but we were not without anything we needed or wanted to do. Actually, we felt satisfaction to be able to help the local economy. I highly recommend Grand Bahamas and if you go, try to stay at Don & Liz's place.
We stayed at Don and Liz's from 12-31-2016 through 1-5-2017 and both rooms were great and met all our needs. We have a 20 year old boy, an 18 year old boy, and an 8 year old girl, so we definitely enjoyed the space of both rooms and used all the sleeping arrangements available. The accommodations were comfortable for all and the views were fantastic. With the 2 older boys, I don't think they could've survived without the wireless internet which worked great. The island is still recovering from the Hurricane, but that worked out for us because the restaurants in the Marketplace were never too crowded so we didn't need reservations. All the staff at the Coral Beach are very friendly. The beach is great and water was perfect for swimming. Nothing like swimming in the ocean on New Years day when you live in Michigan. The food and drinks at the bar/restaurant were very good and probably better than you can get at the Marketplace. The location is very good and we walked down the beach to the Marketplace just about every day. After walking up and down the beach, you could tell which property was Coral Beach because that's where the people were. Some of our recommendations are to use Queenie for cab rides (she took us a number of places and by the end of the trip, seemed like family). We swam with the Dolphins through Unexso and would definitely recommend that. We've done that other places, but this one gave you the most individual time with the dolphins. It was a too windy on the days we were there to snorkel except for the day we had to leave, so I would recommend that if you think about going to Paradise Cove, wait until the day you want to go to see if it's calm enough. I think the snorkeling at the Condo would have been great had we had a calm day to try. Restaurant recommendations in the Marketplace are Cappuccino's , La Parrilla, and Sabor. All were excellent. I would definitely recommend staying at Don and Liz's at the Coral Beach. Our family had a great and memorable vacation.
