The Moko Jumbie house, which once stood as the Danish Armory, boasts characteristics of early nineteenth-century residential buildings of Christiansted. This historic property is over 200 years old and has been restored with much love and care as a 4-unit building. The added interest is in the placement of the stepped site and the double-curved grand stairway leading to a masonry bay centered against the front gallery. The original yellow Danish bricks throughout the exterior have been preserved and allocated with great attention to detail, providing a unique experience. The Guardians a bronze artwork by sculptor Ward Tomlinson Elicker, is permanently located just steps from your front door.

Inside, the Moko Jumbie House - Historic Suite, it welcomes you with a charming kitchenette showcasing historic Danish brickwork from countertop to ceiling, framing the beautiful large windows. The bathroom is a retreat in itself, featuring floor-to-ceiling Carrara marble, a sleek glass shower, and a serene view of private greenery. With a split A/C unit to keep you cool and all your essentials covered, this suite blends historic charm with modern comforts.

We want to share that due to the historic preservation design of our building, wheelchair access is not currently available. We truly value accessibility for all our guests and are actively working on improvements to better serve everyone. Additionally, please note that our units do not have backup power at the moment, but we are diligently exploring solutions to provide uninterrupted power supply in the future.

    A unique , modern apartment in a historic site a short walk from the boardwalk, shops, restaurants and harbor. Our hostess, Keisha, was more than welcoming and accommodating to all our needs. A great place to stay and relax.

    What an amazing stay! My wife definitely gets weary when we stay new places and This was our first time to St Croix. we booked this stay with as much research we could find which was little to none, so needless to say, it was booked on a prayer! The price was great and the photos looked very nice! We were pleasantly surprised with the place when we arrived! It is a beautiful property with great history! Our little unit was very updated and quaint! We loved the gated property and felt very safe! Super easy walking distance to great Coffee Shops, Restaurants, Shopping, Historic Sites and the Boardwalk! The area around this place is a bit dilapidated and dirty, but we never once felt unsafe and made the walks daily! Tons of age and history in this area, so we didn’t mind and just soaked it in! I highly recommend and will definitely book here again! Great location and great place to stay!

    Beautiful renovation, clean, safe and great location. If you choose to stay in the historic room please note this is down stairs and has a tendency to be loud sometimes from upstairs.

    The address on the listing is incorrect and the only way we were able to locate the property was with the help of a US Postal driver. An email was sent with the correct address but I had trouble with connectivity with my phone/accessing emails and only had the address from the listing. I called VRBO to try and contact Marianne for directions but had no luck. There was a thin coverlet on the bed but no blankets available. If you’re new to Christiansted you should know that chickens and roosters roam the town freely. We were awakened bright and early the next morning by a rooster. After a long day of travel the previous day I was really looking forward to getting some sleep. Fortunately we were only there for one night.

    My wife and I stayed here, and it is just as good as advertised. The property is beautiful, and is within walking distance of some great restaurants, and the boardwalk in Christiansted. Marianne is so nice and easy to reach (via VRBO, email, etc.) and helped provide easy instructions for checking in and finding the location. Clean, cozy, and the A/C works great!

    I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at one of the beautifully renovated spaces in the Moko Jumbie House. The bright and airy unit features all the amenities I needed to feel right at home, and it is conveniently located within walking distance to downtown restaurants and attractions. There's plenty of on site parking right by the gated entrance, and the host Marianne is wonderful. I will definitely stay here again.
