The Foodland “Pau Hana” Checklist
The nearby Princeville Foodland is famous for more than just groceries. These three items are Kauai staples that guests can enjoy on the lanai while watching the sunset.
• Fresh Ahi Poke: Often called the best on the island, the poke counter at the back of the store offers dozens of varieties. Order the California Crunch or Spicy Ahi and grab a bag of wonton chips for the ultimate ocean-view appetizer.
• Warm Musubi: Located in the heated grab-and-go case near the deli. This classic island snack (grilled Spam and rice wrapped in nori) is perfect fuel for the Sealodge Beach hike. Look for Teriyaki or Egg versions for a quick, affordable breakfast.
• Anahola Granola: A premium, locally made treat found in the cereal aisle—handmade on Kauai with local honey and macadamia nuts. Mix with Kilauea-grown papaya and Greek yogurt for a fresh island breakfast on the lanai.

The property location is beautiful. We didn’t realize it was located in a kind of Florida like retirement community. There was one centre near by for food and coffee. Overall the accommodation was quite dated. Bed was a bit small but comfortable. Bathroom was very dated, old shower curtain that didn’t prevent water from seeping out so we had chronically wet towels sopping up fluid that would never dry as it’s so moist in the condo. We were there during a pretty rainy time which was disappointing so our hiking things never really dried. No air conditioning. Kitchen was updated and functional but no stove. No washer and dryer and despite us inquiring into an on-site option, we could never find it. Hanalei was the highlight, nearby beach community with good beaches, stores and restaurants but the highway was often closed due to flooding. Overall, expensive for what you get. However we may have felt much different if we got better weather. Lots of hiking near by. No beach access from the condo, despite the description of a trail to the beach (this was quite treacherous and we turned around as muddy and we fell, despite us being fit!).

It was the perfect location, with ocean views and snorkeling within walking distance.

This was our second year staying here. This year, we unfortunately had much louder neighbors than the previous year, with people stomping above us during quiet hours (9pm-8am) and people talking loudly on their patio below us at 4AM which was super inconsiderate, rude, disrespectful, and downright idiotic. We both woke up very bothered by all the noise that the fans couldn't drown out and we had to close our window just to try to go back to sleep so we had to sacrifice listening to the ocean waves that we paid for. There were also tiny ants that we experienced inside the property this time that we did not experience last year. We love this place for the price and ocean view, but I don't think we can stay here again due to the thin walls and ants.

My wife and I loved the property. A couple things I would do to make it a better stay. The bed was very uncomfortable and hard in some spots. We didn’t get a comfortable nights sleep. I would fix the curtain rod and draperies, especially in the bedroom. The curtains wouldn’t close so there was no privacy in the evening. Other than that, we loved it! Hopefully next year we can book it again.

Location is fantastic, sometimes pictures make things look better than they are but in this case the pictures don't do the view justice. Excellent view of the ocean beautiful place to watch the sunset. The condo is nice for two people. My only suggestion would be to update the bathroom area. It's not as nice as the rest of the condo but certainly sufficient. We had a great time and enjoyed to stay

The pictures of the apartment is out of date. And the laundry machines were out of order.

Laundry was not in the unit and dryers were not working. BBQ grill was 3 buildings away and required charcoal. View was spectacular.

My husband and I enjoyed our stay. We were worried about no ac in August but the coastal breezes and fans kept us cool. The place had everything we needed and the friendly managers made it feel homey!

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We loved staying here. Sealodge is removed from the main road and feels more secluded, even in Princeville. We loved the easy access to the Sealodge trail to the beach. Our condo view was amazing. It has everything you need for a week+ stay including cooler, two beach towels, and chairs. The bathroom does struggle with older plumbing but worked great for us. My only suggestion for improvement is the mattress. It is barebones and even for me (I sleep on a firm mattress) it was too much. I could feel the individual springs in it. It is a rental and not someone’s residence so it doesn’t have a super homey feel (no cling wrap, scissors, baggies, etc) but was everything we needed for the stay. There is construction happening all around the complex and that did mean sometimes right outside of our door, but it was only during the day when we were mostly not home.
