Our stay in Marlinton's Main St suite was very good with only one problem. The lack of shades on the windows and limited parking spaces were addressed in other reviews. The problem we encountered was lack of towels for a three night stay. Two bath towels and two very thin wash cloths were all we had. There were no hand towels or dish cloths provided. We had to use one wash cloth for a hand towel in the bathroom and one for a dish cloth in the kitchen. We contacted the manager, but nothing was done to help us. Fortunately this did not prevent us from enjoying West Virginia, but should not have be fixed.
Refrigerator, microwave, and oven were not clean. Pet food on kitchen floor. Bathroom rugs had not been laundered from previous guest.
The location is a perfect hub for going to snowshoe and located right above a great Italian restaurant. The space had all the basics, however was missing bigger pan or cookie sheet for cooking. There is a grocery store nearby to make you own dinner. Overall for the price the place met the expectations and we would be coming back in the future.
This was our second time staying at Zach's place. If you love to bike, it is the perfect place. You can hop on your bike and go north or south on the Greenbrier River Trail. We parked our truck when we got to Marlinton and didn't get in it until a week later when we left. We rode our bikes to eat, buy groceries and for recreation. Zach responds quickly if you need to speak to him.
Loved staying here! Very clean and comfortable. Location was great as well.
The stairs are a bit much with luggage and groceries but who doesn't need a little exercise. Zach is great with communication and very accommodating. We had to alter plans and thankfully he had flexibility and was willing to work with us. The only real negative is that the furniture could be better quality but that's being picky. It's simple and nicely located. The tavern and restaurant downstairs was a big plus for us.
Outdoor patio is a dump, we were greeted with another tenant drying his laundry and later smoking dope. Inside was basic , some of window blinds broken, light from street very bright at night , couldn’t block, trash bins full at access point, the town was depressing
No communication for check in process from property manager until day of arrival… The VRBO listing had this place as apartment four, to include pictures of unit four, and yet there was somebody in that unit while the property manager texted we were in a different one. Received attitude from the property manager during the phone call to figure out the confusion. Ran into the cleaning lady on site that stated this happens all the time. The unit number three was dirty with no trash bags in the garbage cans and dirty linens on the bathroom floor, walls needed scrubbed, broken picture frames. I do not recommend this VRBO unit to anyone!
It was great having the restaurant and bar just downstairs. This town is very welcoming! The unit itself is spacious and has what you need for a comfortable stay! A nice table for work or meals, and a recliner for relaxing and watching the tv. Loved my stay! Thank you.
Perfect location for three days of riding on the Greenbrier Trail. Trail acess was only 100 yards away. Accommodations were straightforward, comfortable and very clean. The deck was a plus. Excellent dining and drinking establishments on the first floor of the building. A coffee shop and grocery store only a short walk away. We would definitely stay here again.
The studio style apartment was very clean and centrally located. We really enjoyed our stay. The only thing is it is located over top of a restaurant and bar that doesn’t close till 2am. We could hear the karaoke singing and then when it closed the patrons were peeling out of the parking lot and cussing one another out. That was Friday night. Saturday night was very quiet. The walls are thin and you can here loud mufflers from cars pass by. We didn’t mind it though. Really enjoyed our stay. Thank you Zach.
We came down to WV to fly fish, so we knew we would be spending a lot of time outside and didn’t need a big place to stay. This little condo was the perfect spot for our stay! It had everything we needed and then some. I’ve stayed in some places where it took forever to get in contact with the property manager - not this place. Excellent communication the entire time! We plan on coming down next year and will most likely book this place again.
We’ve stayed in Marlinton multiple times, and this place is the best. It’s directly upstairs from an Italian restaurant with excellent food. It’s also upstairs from the Mountain Tavern which means you can have a few drinks with the super-friendly locals and walk home. The unit is clean with an open floor plan and very spacious with overhead views of town and a nice back patio. You can’t go wrong by staying here.
