Mahina Kai, Princeville Oceanfront Luxury, Steps to Hideaways

Nice, spacious condo. We had a couple minor issues and the management agency was very responsive. The only complaint is that the beds are insanely uncomfortable. Our entire group - from four years old to forty-four years old struggled to sleep because the mattresses were particularly hard and the pillows did not even seem like real pillows but rather prop pillows? I've never had this experience anywhere we have stayed, but they were laughably bad. Everything else was nice (good linens and towels!) so I'm not sure what's up with the beds. The condo is very private feeling and the pool at the property is lovely too.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: It was a bit disappointing that there was construction above the rental property throughout the day. Couldn’t access the outdoor space due to this, rented the house for the view, but couldn’t go outside and enjoy it. My senior father fell down the stairs in the suite as the flooring is all the same color and hard to see level changes. He ended up needing medical due to this. The location of Princeville is nice, but the suite was hard to access the beach (although this was accurate to the posting). The building is very old, with modern furniture. The kitchen seems like someone dumped all the items they didn’t want anymore and was missing some of the basics like a mixing bowl. The resort was great at responding to any questions and were able to accommodate a bed for my infant. Overall a nice place, but unfortunately the cost and product don’t match.

Pu’u Poa 114 was exactly as pictured and is a beautiful layout and unit. All of the finish out is fantastic. There are a total of four couches/sitting areas inside, and they are all very comfortable. The bed in the primary bedroom was a little soft, and the bed pillows were quite high and stiff, but we still slept well. The air conditioning worked very well, and the view is pretty. Unfortunately, there was significant construction directly above our unit going on, and during the day, we heard a lot of hammering/drilling from 8-4. We were also not permitted to enjoy our private yard and view outside from the hours of 8am - 4pm (signs were posted as such). We called the property management company, and after the second phone call, Chris, the owner of the management company called us and took great care of us. We were moved to another unit in Pu’u Poa, which was nice. Not nearly as beautifully decorated or large, but it did have a beautiful view of Bali Hai and the ocean. We were comped one full night at the Pu’u Pao unit price and refunded the difference between the new unit’s nightly rate for our remaining nights. We were so impressed with how our situation was handled, we’ll seek opportunities to stay at other properties managed by the same company. Chris provided the gold-star of customer service, and while moving units during our stay was not planned, it helped make our trip a beautiful one. I’d just inquire about construction prior to booking this unit if visiting Pu’u Poa in the coming months (Nov 2022-Feb 2023).

It was difficult to see and multiple people missed the step and almost fell. We moved a rug to the lower part of the step and it wasn’t a problem the rest of the stay. Other than that the place was everything we needed to enjoy our stay. Would definitely stay here again!

This was an outstanding property. The pictures really do not do it justice. Spacious and lots of room to spread out. It appears to be professionally decorated and the view is spectacular.

You can also hear the ocean if you are out on the patio or have the doors open. Very private for a condo. Two nenes visited a few times, and you could see and hear several other interesting birds and frogs. The kitchen was roomy for a condo and was well-equipped. Everything was in working order. It is nice to be a short walk/hike down to Hideaway Beach, as it was never crowded, there were honu, and the snorkeling was great. Hosts/management were responsive to questions. Would definitely stay here again.

It was clean and well stocked with everything we needed. They have every kitchen item you could need. There is plenty of toilet paper and soap and laundry supplies. There is a hair dryer. The location is close to all of the North Shore attractions. I would definitely recommend this property.

This rental is located in a fantastic spot in Princeville. Situated right next to Hideaway Beach to the left and a the most beautiful sunset lookout to the right. Several delicious food options within a 15 minute drive. You can be on the highway to reach the south side of the island or west side in just a few minutes. The rental is spacious and beautiful inside with a very clean minimalist vibe. We felt very comfortable and at home upon arrival. The rental has all of the appliances, dishware, and pots/pans needed to make all your meals. There were trash bags, toilet paper, paper towels, coffee filters, hand and dish soaps, and dishwasher pods stocked for our stay. The viewfrom the lanai each morning as we sipped our coffee and planned our day is spectacular. We loved lounging on the couches near the sliding glass doors in the evenings while taking in the views for the last part of the day. We are so glad we chose this rental for our stay on Kauai!
