Please note you are within nature. Geese can be loud as the lake out front is their home. In June/July there are gnats on the lake (they are harmless) so bring adequate clothing and close windows when the evenings are approaching. Please do not send mail to the unit we are not responsible for any lost, stolen or misplaced packages. We suggest routing them to a local Postoffice and picking up packages there.
As the pictures show, there have been some nice updates done on the main level of this property. The location is great between Aspen and downtown Carbondale. Unfortunately we were not given any check in information. We realized this an hour before our check in time and began calling. We spent an hour and a half on the phone with VRBO who couldn’t reach the owners either. It was a mess and not how we thought we would start our vacation. Once the owner finally responded (30 minutes after our check in time) we were able to get inside just in time for dinner. We had brought some Christmas dinner leftovers to reheat. The kitchen was decent on the outside but once you opened a cabinet everything was a mess. There are stuffed full, cluttered junk drawers, rusty colanders, stained linens. Also a two baskets on the counters just stuffed with papers and random items that look like they have literally been there for years. Upstairs there were layers of dust, dirty lampshades, stained towels, and again drawers in each bathroom STUFFED full of random junk- one of them actually had 15 (yes we counted on disbelief and good humor) bars of USED soap. Used bottles of shampoo, shower pouff, a SOCK?!, just a bunch of gross garbage. The worst part was opening the sofa bed for a good night sleep just to discover mouse droppings and a stained mattress pad. So two of our guests slept downstairs on a couch that didn’t pull out rather than on that sofa bed. The washer and dryer also had random clothing including men’s underwear stacked on top of it. There were no check out instructions in the unit or sent to us. We did at least do as we normally do in other VRBOs and cleaned and removed our own recycling and garbage. The owner offered us $100.00 when we told them about these issues. We declined as we think it is better for our fellow travelers to be made aware of the issues with this place. It does have potential with some serious decluttering, deep cleaning, linen replacement, kitchen utensil replacement. Replacing the random, unevenly cut strips of paper taped up with notes on them and then written over where they wanted to change information on those notes. It was really a disappointment because we are building a home in the area and are excited to find a regular place to stay while we check on our home’s progress- this is definitely not that place.
4 of us were skiing at Aspen & stayed in this Carbondale rental. It was very convenient to the slopes (note that there is free parking in Aspen on Sundays). The view out the sliding doors was gorgeous & we certainly enjoyed the animals on the pond: geese, buffleheads, muskrats, etc. The unit was very spacious and the kitchen was well stocked. We appreciated the cloth napkins, as we try to limit our use of disposables. There is a bit of deferred maintenance in the unit, keeping us from rating it 5 stars. We were disappointed that there was no wood for the fireplace. Overall, a great spot!
Very peaceful, great fishing and close to fun activities,
Lovely area, view and pond behind the condo. Excellent bedding, bathroom and kitchen setup. We woke up to swans swimming and a family of ducks. I could hear the coyotes in the early morning communicating.
This vacation location is amazing! Loved the views! (ducks, swans, we saw a fox, fish, hawks, etc.) We stayed here from Sun-Fri and the check in was a breeze. It was quiet and fully furnished which is awesome. Usually you don't see soo many amentities with a kitchen in a vrbo. The only cons were there is no A/C and it was a scorcher of a week. (Nothing to do with the owner of the property) We tried to have windows open to cool off at night but one of the bedroom windows had a screen missing, which would have been fine since we could just keep that window closed and open other window. Except the other side of the window, the screen had a gap to where each night we had a problem with bugs filling the room that we ended up vacuuming up. There was animal hair and lots of cobb webs/dust which I am very allergic so we didn't end up hanging out at the house. I spent quite some time trying to vacuum the cobb webs, dust, animal hair. If I had no allergy, it wouldn't have bothered me. Otherall, with a little better deep cleaning, this place would be a gem!
Comfortable quiet condo with a pristine private fishing pond steps from the back porch. Caught some beautiful trout on fly rods, including a 22 rainbow, and released them back in there for you to catch! Enjoyed biking and blading on the Rio Grande trail, dining in Carbondale, and disc golfing at the nearby Colorado Mountain College campus. Plenty to do in the gorgeous Roaring Fork valley, and this property is an ideal hub for summer or winter exploration.
Great location to explore the ski hills and trails in the Aspen Snowmass area at an affordable price!
We stayed at this property for a long weekend of bike riding. The location was great -- easy access to all we wanted to do. It was really nice having a view of the lake as we hung out in the living room. The kitchen, living room and dining room (downstairs) were great and laid out nicely -- open design that let the cooks feel part of the action. The two bedrooms upstairs were comfortable and spacious, and it was nice that each had their own en suite. Each had a problem or two that turned out to be annoyances. The master bedroom's shower hot water never got above luke warm (though the sink hot water was hot), and the screen was damaged in a way that we were hesitant to leave the window open in fear of entering mosquitoes. The second bedroom with twin beds (which were not made into a king as asked for) had a very slow drain in the shower so by the end of a not-long shower you were in ankle deep water. I reached out to the owner during out stay but since it was the weekend and our stay was brief there was really no time to correct these items; I assume they have since been fixed. Overall, with some TLC to the upstairs, I would stay there again.
This place was as advertised. Plenty of room for the 4 of us. It was nice to have the pond out the back door with the patio table and chairs. The fishing at the Ranch was great and we enjoyed walking the trails - lots of wildlife to see! It was close to Basalt and Carbondale and all their shops and restaurants.
The property was clean and the outdoors was beautiful. Close to everything we needed. Thanks
