La Costa Luxury Condo | Fully Remodeled

This unit is nicely renovated, clean and comfortable. The location adjacent to the Omni La Costa resort provides a number of amenities in short walking distance. There is a sunny patio with a firepit, airconditioning, and laundry facilities in the unit. Kitchen and bathrooms have been fully remodeled. There is a study nook with built in desk between the living room and bedroom which was perfect for setting up laptop. Perfect place for a single traveler or a couple. Communication with the hosts was easy, mostly via text message - they were very responsive. Only 'negative' was that I found the remote control for the TV to be difficult to understand with the various streaming services (the remote operates similarly to a mouse moving across the screen, so requires some focus/attention - not great for older generation). The unit is very sunny and bright with a view across the swimming pool towards the tennis courts and hillside community beyond.

First of all, the condo was beautifully updated, modern and comfortable. Loved the location overlooking the pool/tennis and private balcony. The problems were with electronics/appliances. There was no cable availability on the TV - just apps. During the presidential election, we wanted national cable news to keep us updated. Spent literally hours looking through all the apps and basically there was no live news anywhere. The few apps we had - we had no memory of passwords and the cable purveyor we have at home was not listed on the Apple Smart TV. Finally had to find Fubo to subscribe to get news and sports, and twice a day Fubo expected us to update with an email. Next problem was no instructions for anything. The fireplace did not work and had no idea how to turn on the gas for the outdoor table fire. We asked for a repairman, a handyman was promised and never showed up to fix them. Also, when trying to use the stove top did not know it was an inductive appliance that only heated when pans were on top. Another 30 minutes of our vacation time. Loaded dishwasher with pod detergent, but the pod did not dissolve and all dishes were still dirty. Washed dishes every time by hand - another time waster. I strongly suggest the owners have all appliance how-to's in their notebook for guests. Did not even attempt to use the washer/dryer, not trusting that our clothes would get clean.

Unit very high end and modern. Just feel all vacation properties should have cable tv in addition to streaming access.

Everything was just fine excepting the 3 remotes needed to get the living room TV working. Way too complicated and instructions were poor in my opinion. However, the huge TV and sound system is very nice when you finally know how to work it.

This resort was very nice! A great place to stay in Carlsbad for solo travelers or families. I will preface this review by saying, the location/resort was beautiful and I would stay here again. However, the check-in process/communication with the property manager could have been better prior to arrival. This was my first time traveling to California, and I rated the check-in process and communication with the property manager lower due to my multiple attempts to confirm my check-in time. After my first inquiry if early check-in prior to 4pm was possible, I was asked what time I would like to arrive and when I provided a response of 1pm, I didn’t hear back. I received a follow-up text with more instructions the morning of my check-in, and when I asked again if I was confirmed to check in early, the property manager told me they would be in touch after their inspection, but I never heard back. Regardless of if early check-in applied to my room or not, I would have appreciated if the property manager would have communicated more clearly and confirmed/denied my request instead of making it seem like it was a possibility only to never confirm. I would have more than likely adjusted my schedule accordingly instead of sticking close by “in case” I was contacted early. I would recommend this resort for those interested. However, I would encourage the property managers to be more upfront with guests if early check-in is not available so they can plan appropriately.

Great property with an updated remodel. New appliances and lighting. Clean and complete. We would return if we visit Carlsbad again.
