For surfers & the adventurous, the beach is a one mile walk away along a well-maintained path through a park-like setting with unsurpassed views of the Bay. Enjoy big wave surfing in winter, and small, rolling waves in summer. The historic town of Hanalei is a perfect place for strolling, dining and browsing through shops. There is also a fish market, shave ice, smoothie and juice bars.

This Hanalei Hideaway is in a small complex of 20 townhouses surrounded by tropical foliage and estate homes on large properties. The neighborhood is exceptionally clean, safe and quiet and on the edge of Princeville Resort that sits atop the bluffs overlooking the ocean and Hanalei Valley.

On the ground floor is a kitchen, dining area, living room, lanai, bathroom and washer/dryer. Upstairs are two bedrooms and a bathroom. Small private yards in front and back of the home are part of the well manicured landscape. Lush tropical foliage can be viewed from every window. The newly renovated 27-hole Makai´ Golf Course, tennis courts and Princeville Shopping Center, with the only major grocery store on the North Shore, are close by.

Nice location and beautiful beaches nearby. I was just concerned that the listing was advertised as a two-bedroom unit, which was accurate in terms of sleeping space, but one of the bedrooms was locked and this made us uncomfortable, as we didn’t know what was behind the locked door. While the rest of the stay was generally fine, not disclosing this in advance felt misleading and affected our sense of safety and trust. Transparency is important, and I hope the host updates the listing to clarify this detail for future guests.

When we arrived, inside and outside the unit smelled like urine. May have been the cat wandering around. Inside the unit most of the time it smelled unpleasant either because of garbage from the last people, the laundry machine, or just staleness since there is no AC and all the furniture is very old/worn. The main level toilet is too cramped for an adult to use comfortably. There were a lot of items in the unit that were worn or broken - no handle on microwave, kitchen table very worn, kitchen faucet handle broken, screen not attached, burnet out fan light in spare bedroom, burnt out light in upper bathroom, broken kitchen cabinet, dirty oven burners, and area that had not been cleaned (stuff behind the living room table). The traffic noise along the road was also pretty constant between 5am-midnight. We will likely stay elsewhere next time.

This is a really nice place. Extremely quiet. I don’t think we ever heard another neighbor. But the place needs an AC. I spent two sweaty nights trying to fall asleep and it was miserable. Especially in the master bedroom. It took hours to cool the house down and sometimes it wasn’t cool enough outside for that to happen until the wee hours of the morning. I was also really bummed that there was no coffee. The worst after a night with no sleep.

Clean, spacious and safe place to stay. Host reply promptly! The property is along the hi-way so a bit noisy but not a big issue!

Lovely condo in a cool location, not in the main part of Princeville but a little closer to Hanalei in a spot that feels more tucked back into the rainforest. Nice and clean, beach chairs, towels, cooler and umbrellas provided. Great beds & pillows. Comfortable accommodations except the bathrooms desperately need to be remodeled/updated. Downstairs toilet configuration makes it so if you are taller than average you have to straddle the bowl or sit sideways. Good and quick communication with property management company who showed up immediately to replace a coffee maker that wasn’t working and help with tv questions.

The house is very well maintained. There was only just enough towels. They certainly didn’t go overboard here. The listing states there are trade winds that help cool off the house. Well that’s if they are blowing. When we arrived the upstairs was very hot. The house had been closed up until we arrived. Opening the windows and turning on all the fans only did so much. We were tired after a day of travel and the bedrooms were not cool enough to be in. It was down right hot. Yes the listing does not include A/C, but it saying trade winds sufficiently cool the house is NOT correct. For the cost of this home, there are others with A/C for just a little more if any more. I would recommend one of those over this home. Also the downstairs bathroom is shoehorned in there. There is no way to sit on the toilet without sitting sideways. The shower there is just as bad. It’s just a poor design for a bathroom. I’ve never seen anything like it before. I believe just from looking at other places there is better in this area. It’s not horrible, but it’s not great either. We did end up complaining to their new management company and did get a window A/C unit for the bedroom to be able to sleep at night. It was an extra $150.

This place was a perfect location to explore the north shore. Property was clean and We like the fact that there was nobody above or below us. Princeville shopping center just around the corner and Hanalei bay just a short drive away

My husband and I visited Kauai for the first time last year and fell in love! Especially with the North Shore. We stayed in Poipu last year, but I knew I wanted to stay somewhere near Princeville or Hanalei when we returned this year. I just loved that area so much! This townhouse was clean, comfortable, well decorated, and had all of the supplies we needed to cook meals or enjoy some time at the beach. I really appreciated that it had a washer and dryer in the townhouse as well. There’s a Foodland close by where you can get groceries. The location was super convenient to all of the things we wanted to do in the North Shore. It was a bit of a drive to some of the other things we wanted to do near Poipu, Hanapepe, or Kapa’a, and especially to Waimea Canyon, but I didn’t mind the drive. It doesn’t have air conditioning, but I found the temperature to be pretty comfortable at night if you opened up the windows and turned on the ceiling fans. I appreciated that the hosts had beach chairs and coolers that we could use while staying there. We did find a few cockroaches in the townhouse, but that’s probably a pretty common issue on the Hawaiian islands.

Our stay in Kauai could not have been more amazing. The property was exactly as detailed in the listing, plus more. They had beach chairs, boogie boards, extra coolers. The house was so well stocked. We prefer to cook at home versus eating out 3 meals a day for our vacations, this can be hit or miss when renting a property. This home had everything we needed. Including a blender for our morning protein drinks. Our trip was myself, my husband and our 22 year old daughter. The home was perfect for us!! The hosts checked in with us several times and gave us suggestions on places to go and eat. We took their hike they suggested that leads down to a very secluded beach. It was perfect. We would definitely stay at this location again!!
