Hemingways Atlantic Retreat overlooks Smathers Beach upgrades galore Key West

Room was clean. Covered gated parking lot was wonderful. Great pool and hot tub.

The hot tub was cold. It would have been nice to have a map of the property. My poor old dad had to walk all the way down the hall, then all the way back to the pool... Until we found the shortcut. Property could use some electricity for the go-karts. None in the garage and the one outside didn't work. It was a nice place don't get me wrong, but for the price it had hiccups.

We felt some of the furniture could have been a bit more up-to-date, including bedding and linens. We expected the decor to be a bit fresher and that dishes, cups and glasses would be in matched sets. Having stayed in a number of other VRBO’s, this one seemed to be a bit mediocre—especially for the price we paid.

The description showed two king beds but one room had twin beds. Reading further down in the text description it even says 2 Kings and 0 twin beds but finally way down buried in a THIRD paragraph it does mention the twins could be put together to make a king “upon request”. I feel this was not evident and very misleading for the price of the unit. Also, VRBO has commercials with Lou Saban. I felt this property has more rules than Lou Sabans rule book.

We loved the location and the morning sun rises! So wonderful to explore Key West and return to home.

Great vacation. One of the warmest pools I have ever been in and was great. Hot tub jets not working but pool is so warm it is not needed. Apt. was awesome. Had everything you could possibly need. Only 2 of us but could have had 4 and been comfortable. Huge balcony which we thought we would spend a lot of time on but no! It was too hot outside for us old folks. We left 17 degrees in Ohio and 80's is quite hot so we stayed inside with the nice air conditioning. Beds were comfy and plenty of towels and pillows which is a nice surprise. We had 1 problem that the owners made right. We had no car but used uber and we added it up and was less than 100.00. I'm sure a lot less for younger people because we can't walk as far in our 60's. Some people even walked to Duvall from our place but not for us. Make sure you are ready for the high prices for everything!

Loved our stay! Would like the ceiling fan fixed in 1st bedroom. (Now only on low, no chain, to increase it, so was warm)Fix small shower head in 1st bathroom.Explain more clearly the garage situation.

This was our second stay in the same unit, and we absolutely love the whole complex.

We picked this resort because of the ease of access to beach & pool. Easy to uber to downtown, enjoyed all the nightlife without the noise. Room has a fantastic view.

We loved everything about the condo. It had everything we needed. Helpful tips, the condo does have a washer and dryer and beach towels. These were not listed in the original listing. The views from the balcony are amazing. If we ever come to Key west we would stay there again.

The property was very well furnished, clean and comfortable. Secure and quiet. Updated kitchen, baths and floors. Beautiful plantation shutters and sliders. Giant east facing balcony which gave us views of the ocean and morning sunshine. Large, shimmering oceanfront pool with plenty of lounge chairs. Very nice biking, walking lane along the ocean. Needed a taxi/Uber to go to town but they are plentiful. It was a bit noisy with jets and road traffic during the day. Highly recommend if you don’t need the night life of Duvall Street area.

To get down to Duvall Street day one we walked then realized bikes would make a better choice. The pool can’t be beat other places have small pools with no view while here you get a huge pool and hot tub with a beach view. We will definitely be back.The only down side was the condo had maintenance power wash the garage and our car was a mess afterwards. Would have been nice for a head so we could have moved it since it was detailed.

We rented this unit for our son, his wife, my husband and I a get away. The unit is beautifully decorated with an ocean view. Very spacious and comfortable. I would definately stay here again!

Property was lovely. The kitchen was well stocked although having some coffee/tea there would have been a nice touch. Had a bit of trouble entering the building to get to the lock box. Also had trouble locating the pool but we did find it. Great balcony space!

The location is right on a busy road and the traffic made sitting on the balcony less enjoyable but not a deal breaker because we were out most of the time. The dining room table and chairs are very uncomfortable but again not a deal breaker, just sharing for future renters. The employees were responsive and helped with any questions we had.

The master bath shower is to die for! We were so happy with our choice of where to stay! Our only issue was we rented an electric golf cart for our 4 day stay and their wasn't a single plug anywhere to charge it at night. So we did have to go to the rental place and change out golf carts everyday. But other than that I highly recommend the 1800 Atlantic Blvd Condos!

My only problem was the mold and dust and just lack of cleaning. I was only able to stay one night since my throat and eyes swelled so much. The AC in-take door is completely caked in dust. The vent in the kitchen has black mold and dust covered every louver door. Jack (maintenance) spent time dusting after I called Diana but it just wasn't enough. The kitchen counter has a receipt/sticker stuck/corroded to the counter top. The beds were all very uncomfortable as well. The pool is lovely and we caught some sleep on the lounge chairs. I'd hire new cleaning crew for sure! I'd definitely stay at 1800 Atlantic again but perhaps a different unit.
