Overall it was a beautiful property with nice staff but here are biggest issues with this listing: 1. Resort fees: there were 3 digit $ resort fees for one night. To be fair, I later discovered they were on this listing but they are only seen if you hit “show more” at the very bottom in the more details sections. This is sneaky and deceiving in my opinion. 2. This isn’t a hotel or hotel accommodations - trash had to be taken out, products are not great, you don’t have a mini fridge in the room and your pool towels can only be swapped out at the front desk. You can’t get amenities like a rollaway bed. It is below the standards of a hotel. 3. The fancy restaurant is closed but the crazy thing is it’s listed as an open restaurant!! It’s on google as open, it’s on all the maps from the resort, etc., We went expecting a good dinner only to show up and see pizza. The worst part was the restaurant was closed 8 YEARS AGO. This is absolutely insane to me and inconvenient. 4. The hot tub - the pool is beautiful but the hot tub jets and below average and it closed at 10 and didn’t open till 8 or 9. 5. Most importantly, the listing doesn’t match the property! We didn’t have a kitchenette, let alone a coffee maker. Our room was a bed and a bathroom. It was many 200 sq feet not 600 sq feet!!

The property is beautiful. The sunsets were amazing. The location is a bit isolated. You have to drive to shops and stores. The room itself was very nice but the door to the lock off doesn’t keep noise out.

Entering unit, it was a strong moldy and musty odor. It permeated bedding. Opening doors and turning on A/C did little to help. A little exploring and we found mold spores in A/C and mold growing on headboard of bed. Notified rental agency immediately, but they took 14 hours to get back to us. We couldn't sleep well and were concerned about health risk to my wife who has asthma. Agency ignored our complaints, had no solution other than 1 night free. We still had to pay fees, and find another cleaner accomodation. Very disappointing.

The grounds of the Hanalei Bay resort were beautiful. The views were great as well as the pool, and the staff was friendly and helpful. The check in fees were steep and the unit itself was extremely dated. In need fo renovations and new furniture especially for the nightly price. The pictures are misleading. Also the unit was not entirely clean and the headboard had a smell that resembled the smell of urine. Would not book again

The location was beyond perfect! The room did smell pretty musty, and the carpet is in poor condition. There also weren’t trash bags provided. The balcony has amazing views, and the resort grounds as a whole were pleasant. The beach is phenomenal! I would definitely stay at this resort again, but I would look into different room options.

Overall, we had a good experience. The room itself was great and had an amazing view - definitely the highlight of the stay. The hotel is nice, with a couple of restaurants, two pools, and direct access to a shared sandy beach with a neighboring hotel. The room was not cleaned properly upon arrival - the bathroom was dirty and there were used towels - however, once we notified the host, a cleaner was sent the next day, which we appreciated. The hotel and room interiors are a bit dated, but you’re really paying for the location and the view, which made it worth it for us. That said, the service setup was a bit confusing. We received messages about checking out beach chairs in the middle of the day and before our departure, even though we had asked to keep them until the end of our stay. At checkout, we were told the chairs belonged to a homeowner, not the hotel, which made the residence/hotel system feel disorganized.Overall, a good stay with an incredible view. If the room were spotless on arrival and the service coordination clearer, it would have been excellent.

Hanalei Bay Resort was lovely. The common areas are well-landscaped, and we enjoyed the two nice restaurants, pools, tennis courts, and private beach access. The staff was warm, and the golf cart service (available via text) to go from parking to the unit and the beach was helpful, though you should plan for a 10-minute wait for rides. The unit itself was a spacious, hotel-style studio with a functioning air conditioner and refrigerator. The view was amazing, though I’d note that some units further uphill offer even more expansive views (rightly priced higher). While the price was fair, we encountered several maintenance issues: the linens had a mild unpleasant odor, the electric kettle was broken, and the provided beach chairs were broken. Fortunately, the timeshare office near reception makes some chairs available for free, which saved our beach day. We reached out to the host about the kettle but never received a response.Note for future guests: There is a coffee maker but no grounds are provided, and there is no microwave in the unit.Overall, a decent stay for the price because of the resort's location and perks, but the unit cleanliness and host communication could be improved.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had such an amazing stay here! The resort grounds are beautiful and impeccably maintained. While the unit is a bit of a steep walk from the parking lot, the resort’s shuttle service makes it no problem at all. We were pleasantly surprised by how quiet and peaceful the property felt throughout our stay. The landscaping is stunning and lush with both cozy nooks for small gatherings and open lawns with games and lounge chairs. The on-site restaurants were a convenient bonus: a bit pricey and the food was just okay, but the views and atmosphere were incredible. The unit itself felt more like a spacious hotel room than a full condo, with limited kitchen amenities, but it was clean and comfortable. The king bed was comfortable, and we appreciated the mini fridge, coffee maker, and blender. Beach supplies were provided in the closet (cooler and lawn chairs). The balcony offered a beautiful spot to relax with a drink and take in the sunsets and sunrises.Everyone we encountered, both guests and staff, was friendly and welcoming. We also loved the private beach and pool area. The snorkeling was surprisingly good for how close it was to the unit, and the hot tub and pool were a perfect way to end the day.Overall, this resort is a gem. We’d absolutely love to stay here again for the beautiful views, relaxing atmosphere, and wonderful amenities.

Had a great time! Resort was very clean and had great amenities including two nice pools. It is very hilly but they offer golf cart pickups for getting around. Wifi and cell signal can be spotty at times. Would definitely stay here again!

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was more than happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Overall, the room was about the same quality as you'd find at a Hampton Inn on the mainland. A little dated, but fine for a couple staying for less than a week. There is a mini-fridge, blender, coffee maker and some cutlery and plates. Doing dishes in the bathroom sink wasn't ideal, but we made it work. The room was not that clean at check-in as there was still a lot of standing dust on surfaces. Also, the television turned on but nothing would broadcast on it either via cable TV or my own device. The view from the lanai was great and this part of the property was very quiet. The unit is at the bottom of a large hill but HBR provides free golf cart service you can call or text 24 hrs a day. Be sure to tip! We also liked the pool area and the small beach at the bottom of the hill. We liked HBR a lot and would visit the property again, but perhaps stay at a unit with more amenities like a full kitchenette.

This unit was alright. I’d forewarn anyone staying here that the images and description feature choice omissions which can be confusing and misleading.Photos are strategically taken from the one exact angle that omits the eyesore of a wall which is really what you’ll see more of. Bed was hard, lumpy and for us very uncomfortable. Don’t expect what you pay on VRBO per night to be your total cost. You WILL pay an extra 50 per night on top of that in additional resort fees for each day you stay, which is apparently buried in “the fine print” but wasn’t clearly stated at the time we booked. In the room, everything is superficially clean. Behind/around furniture isn't so clean. We did come across 2 cockroaches. The fan didn’t work and the light for it was controlled by the other part of this Lock off unit so we were woken up at 5/6am to a light which the other unit could control. Be warned It is a LONG walk to the unit with steep incline, or you’ll wait for a golf cart. The HBR will not tend to your room. Only the property manager can. However when we contacted the manager they don’t answer their phones, only text, and it was at least a 24 hour delay or more. The responses were usually something like “we will look into it” but no actual solution or fix.I absolutely plan to go back to Princeville and possibly even this resort again, but I certainly would choose a different unit and property manager for my stay there in the future.
