wonderful place to stay

Location is convenient & has pool & parking. They need to update their arrival paperwork;almost everything was incorrect about keys, WIFI, TV, & Parking pass. Keys were not located as described; WIFI info wrong; TV remotes not the same as pictured/described; Parking pass not in location that it said it would be. I figured all of this stuff out on my own. Also need to update pool safety contract; it says The home you have rented includes a community outdoor pool and a Jacuzzi; we were excited about the Jacuzzi even though one is not included on the listing. There is no Jacuzzi. Nice Hemingway theme throughout the property. The kitchen had everything we needed. The biggest issue was the freezer. It was tiny. We bought a bag of ice for drinks, but it would not fit. It only fits a few ice trays--not enough ice for 6 people. Rain and windy our entire stay; if I could have predicted that, I would have gotten a bigger place. A bit small for 6 people to hang out and use one bathroom; one bedroom did not have room to put luggage. Due to rain and wind, couldn't use larger outdoor porch. Was able to sit on the small covered front porch somewhat so that was nice. New washer and dryers were nice, especially since every trip outside required us to dry our gear upon return. Girls rented bikes around the corner and that was nice. Husband liked the short walk to bars, esp. the Green Parrot. Love the area and will stay in vicinity again as I have at several of this compound's rentals.

The apartment has a great location - walking distance to several tourist attractions like Duval street, Mallory square and the beautiful Fort Zachary Taylor State park and beach. The place is somewhat old in a charming way. It's very well maintained and neat. There are two baclonies with sliding doors making it bright and airy. There were plenty of towels and beach towels provided for our trip. The beds were comfortable. We liked that it's in an enclosed/gated community with assigned parking spot right in front of the door making it easy to load/unload luggage especially for families with kids. We enjoyed our stay here and thank the host for providing exactly what the description is on Expedia.

The dishwasher was broken, we had to wash dishes and pots by hands every day. The white blankets have brown big stains , very disgusting. There were roaches walking on the walls at night: their “ home “ is behind the pictures on the wall. One single bed and the sofa have so many bugs, it bit us all three nights long. It was very bad, we have marks all over our bodies because of that bugs bites. My money back would be a fair thing to do, honestly.

This condo really needs some attention. Paint needs touch ups, knobs on doors and kitchen chairs are wobbly. Everything looks worn and the upholstered furniture needs a good wash. After the first time we ran the dishwasher it had standing water in the bottom. The ceiling fan in one bedroom had a missing pull for the fan. We had bugs in the kitchen and bathroom. It took several calls, messages to get a response. We did finally get the fan and dishwasher fixed and the exterminator came after 4 days. The notebook with instructions for the condo is falling apart and obviously outdated, for instance, the phone numbers for help aren’t correct.

We enjoyed our stay. The condo is in a great location. There was neighbor noise, and the units are close. But, pretty comfortable.

The condo was very clean. The location was close to beaches, bars, and restaurants. The Hostess was very accommodating. Our vacation was perfect.

We loved our long weekend getaway. My family of 6 stayed for 3 nights this past weekend. The location is perfect and lots in walking distance. No worry about parking either. The pool and pool house were nice. Very quiet and clean. Condo was great for our shorter trip. Thank you!

We had a nice stay. The beds were very comfortable, and it was conveniently located to many walkable restaurants. The pool area was quiet, and we had everything we needed for our stay. We enjoyed the double balconies too. My only negative comment would be about the overall cleanliness. The bathroom, kitchen and floors were in need of more attention to detail by the cleaning staff. Overall, I would recommend the property, however the cleanliness was lacking as mentioned above.

Spring break with my husband and two teens. Great proximity to everything old town has to offer. Comfy beds. Fit the 4 of us perfectly.

Great location with use of the pool. Loved the second floor porches on front and rear of the unit. Tight bedrooms with one small bathroom. Cleaning crew was at our door at the 10am checkout time.

The Writer's Retreat was conveniently located near all of the Key West attractions we wanted to visit. Once we were checked in, we didn't need to move the car again until we left. The community pool was a great amenity and was located close to the unit. The apartment was the perfect size for our family of four.

We loved our stay! It was myself, my husband and my in laws.Clean, convenient and as advertised. We hope to return next year.

First time to KW and the location is great and we comfortably walked everywhere. Condo owner was very responsive to questions. Comes with small kitchen and fridge for cooking but we did not use it because we were only there 4 days. Condo did accommodate our family of 6 but it was small and tight. Would be perfect for 4!Thank you for the opportunity the place was great.JP

We had high hopes when booking this property-- write-up and reviews looked great, location was ideal. On the plus side- the location of the condo was great--close to everything Key West has to offer within walking distance! Nice community with a pool. Parking is right out front. Condo itself was another story-- definitely didn't live up to the description- it needs some updating/up-keep. Check-in was an hour after contracted time (apparently the previous guests had a late checkout, to our detriment); freezer needs a serious defrosting; the bathroom towels (ostensibly white) were dingy and stained; many of the light bulbs were out; TV remote batteries were dead; the backs of the dining chairs were so loose they are a safety concern; porch furniture (on either deck) not as depicted- torn cushions on the front deck furniture.

The property was in a great location to explore old town on foot. The complex and unit were comfortable. The unit could really use a deep clean and it would have been nice to have a workable freezer and ice machine. Otherwise the unit worked fine for our week stay.

Decorated nice. Did not like the broken bathroom faucet. I called to notify and was told it works but due to future bookings, it has been broken for awhile but still not fixed. Not pleased with the frost filled freezer.

Property is in a perfect location to all key west has to offer. Clean and modern condo, we will be back.

My sister and niece and I came for a long weekend at Key West and had a great time! The location of the condo is so perfect- walkable to everywhere and the property is just as described. The pool was a great way to relax on the hot afternoons and all the bars and restaurants were so fun and convenient in the evenings .Would definitely recommend and stay here again.

The unit was very clean and nicely appointed. The owners have provided (as far as we needed) all the utensils, dishes, etc. you will need. Although the ad says that there are no beach chairs provided, there is a big basket of them- perhaps left from previous visitors. Two things we had problems with: The freezer is TINY. It needs defrosted for one and a small bag of ice leaves no room for anything else. The key box on the outside door is not reachable for a vertically challenged person. If I hadn't had tall friends, I would have never been able to gain entrance. Other than that, location is ideal. I've stayed in the Truman Annex every time I've visited Key West (10-12 years). The fact that you can have a quiet place to go back to after being in the night life, I feel, is wonderful. Book the Writer's Retreat. You won't be disappointed!

Perfect location for getting around! Nice quiet neighborhood/street and just a block away from the party. Make sure to rent bikes, best way to get around town.

Property as described. Very comfortable, nice amenities. The host was very responsive and accommodating, would recommend.

The property was nice and the community was fairly private with a little traffic. Unfortunately the unit below us was under construction and the contractor was a little loud and turned off the water at one point not knowing we were there. They were quick to turn it on when we informed them. There were painters that were working on the outside of our building including the front balcony so we did not use that area. We understand it is the off season but a heads up would have been nice. Otherwise the property was comfortable for our family.
