Stayed Jun 22, 2025The property was very VERY small, and despite the pictures showing a driveway, the day we were arriving I received an email with instructions that said the driveway was NOT part of this unit and we needed to park on the street. The property is much smaller than it looks in the photos, so much so that my daughter felt claustrophobic from the moment we stepped in, let alone when we went upstairs to the very small second bedroom. Tried to get at least some of our money back but the Host, a company called Hoste, refused, saying that VRBO wouldn't allow it. I contacted VRBO and they said this was NOT true, that Hoste could issue a refund or partial refund at their own discretion. There's no way to know just how small this place is without looking at it, so hopefully our experience will at least help someone else not lose money with Hoste in the future. We rented another place in Palmer Lake which was thankfully available, had a much better refund policy (lesson learned!).

Stayed Jul 9, 2024The first night I was going to cook dinner, and opened the silverware and utensil drawer on the island to find many dried mouse droppings in both drawers, and underneath the silverware in the silverware organizer. These were not fresh, quite old and dried out. The silverware organizer still had the label on it, so it had clearly never been washed. There were crumbs and dried food pirces in the drawers. I had to pull everything out and wash it all, and wiped down the drawers with lysol. The dishwasher was also full of clean dishes, not unloaded. Glasses on the shelf were covered in fingerprints. The beds and floors were clean, but you cant rely on tenants to clean thoroughly. We did enjoy our stay, and the house was otherwise lovely, but please make sure the kitchen gets checked and deep cleaned regularly. Its an old house, so I understand that mice are inevitable. I used to live in an old farm house, but you've got to stay on top of cleaning. Someone could get seriously sick.

Stayed Sep 17, 2023Great location, beautiful home, well-equipped, great communication, enjoyed front porch. Even though street parking, never had a problem parking directly in front the entire 3 weeks, weekdays and weekends. Would stay again.

Stayed Aug 31, 2023Small but had all of the essentials covered. Weekend was extremely hot but the addition of the portable ac units made the home perfect. Quiet neighborhood with nearby restaurants. Would recommend

Stayed Aug 11, 2023It was a nice location for what we were doing in the area. The place itself was nice , although we did have an issue with a mouse but it was handled. Super comfortable beds. Ample street parking. Neighborhood was quiet. Kitchen was well stocked.

Stayed Jun 23, 2023The property was clean and easy to find via Google Maps. Instructions for entry and amenities were clear. Stairs are steep, but manageable, however not recommended for anyone with knee issues. Beds were OVERLY soft and brought my girlfriend and I to the middle each night (we slept in 1 bed each night). We rafted in Royal Gorge (1:05 drive) and the drive up was beautiful. Would recommend this house, but know how soft the beds are.

Stayed Oct 7, 2022This was a great value and short drive from Colorado College. It was well appointed with everything we needed to cook/bake and had all new appliances and flatscreen TVs in every room. The property is charming and unique. Things to know: 1) The living room area does not seat more than 2 comfortably on the small couch so this is not the place for a group to hang out. 2) The house was originally built in 1890 so has a narrow steep (carpeted) staircase that could be challenging for someone not steady on their feet. 3) The neighborhood is a bit run down. It felt safe, but there is nothing to walk to nearby so plan to drive to restaurants/shopping. 4) It has great closet space in the bedrooms and lots of hangers. 5) The property manager was very responsive. We had a minor issue with the refrigerator and when we contacted the manager maintenance came in less than half an hour to fix the problem.
