Long renowned as one of the nation's most unique buildings, Sugar Top is a 10-story, mountaintop high-rise with gorgeous views of Grandfather Mountain to the east. The grounds include a heated indoor pool, two large hot tubs, dry and wet saunas, a gym, and a tavern that's great for drinks and snacks - all in a community of wonderful staff and owners. Sugar Top also offers unbeatable access to Sugar Ski and Country Club (less than half a mile), Sugar Mountain Golf and Tennis (three miles), Grandfather Mountain State Park (nine miles), the Blue Ridge Parkway, and the nearby towns of Banner Elk, Boone, and Blowing Rock.

Step inside to find a polished, comfortable space that has been completely and thoughtfully redone. Enjoy new furniture, new appliances large and small, new pans and accessories in the kitchen, new smart TVs in the living room and bedrooms, new ceiling fans, and custom ceilings with shiplap and wood beams.

Begin each morning with coffee, breakfast, and a lovely mountain and valley view outside on your private balcony. End each evening with a homemade meal prepared using stainless steel appliances, card games played in the light-filled dining room, and movies streamed from the comfort of leather sofas. As an added bonus, each bedroom is paired with a full bathroom of its own.

During any high peak time, renters have to park in the lower lots and be shuttled up to the top. Guests are allowed to load and unload at the building before parking in the lower lots if they prefer, especially during high peak times and holidays. Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s, Fourth of July, Highland Games, Willy worm festival, Land of Oz. Parking up top is for owners or with approval from Sugar Top Resort. Sugar Top Resort makes these decisions based on the occupancy.

Parking notes: There is free parking available for 2 vehicles.

    We loved this property. Everything was very up to date and clean, very spacious, and incredible views. However, please be aware that the unit does not have air conditioning. Maybe with the elevation, it isn't usually needed. We stayed in July/80-90 degree weather and the room got up to 76 degrees, but cooled down pretty well in the evenings. The bedroom ceiling fans were wired so that the lights had to be on if the fan was running, so we couldn't use those at night. These were only minor inconveniences and we would stay again, but they should be noted for future renters on the listing.

    The unit itseldf was great but: Per the information on VBRO it appears that the unit would be on the Grandfather mountain side. It seems that all the information is making a point of not letting the renter know it is actually on the ski slope side. The 3 images of the outside 2 show the front of the property facing Grandfather mountain, the last image shows Grandfather Mountain as if it were taken from the unit balcony. There are no other images of the balcony or even a window indicating that the condo is on the ski slope side. looks like this was purposely constructed to leave out that information. We called Vacasa 106 Sugar Mountain Dr, Sugar Mountain, NC 28604 to see if you could check to see if there was another Grandfather side condo we could change to. It didn't matter to us, we just wanted that side if possible. The answer we got from Vacasa was that the local rep looked at it and said that the information was not misleading and that no they would not look to check to see about moving us.
