Stayed Feb 17, 2019Stayed from mid-February to mid-April. The condo was absolutely lovely and the view from the lanai over the cove and ocean was breathtaking. I couldn't have been happier with the service from the owner, he went above and beyond anything I could have imagined, and I went on to make many friends during my stay. Being on the quieter side of the island made getting around a little challenging but the bus service is phenomenal. The sunsets were astounding and watching dolphins, turtles and seals from the lanai was the icing on the cake! Thank you Ken for making this a truly memorable vacation.

Stayed Jul 8, 2018Ken's place was very nice! We spend 5 weeks there with our kids and loved swimming in front of the condo where the beach was safe for the kids. We swam with turtles almost everyday, we snorkelled and saw a lot of beautiful fishes... We had to rent a car a few times to visit the island and to go to the grocery store (there are a few grocery stores near the condo, but they were expansive) but we also take the bus and it was perfect. Ken was there to help us everytime we need him. It was easy to join him during our stay.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969This place had everything, the kitchen was well equipped with a full size fridge, stove, and microwave. All the dishes, pots and pans. Almost better than home. Lots of space in the large bedroom for all your clothes and to store your suitcases. The lanai overlooks the lagoon where you could watch the turtles or if you looked out you might see dolphins or even humpback whales. And then there is the sunsets. We took some stunning sunset pictures. This was to be our last trip to Hawaii but after finding this beautiful spot we are rethinking that. We met great people here and everyone is so nice. We swam daily in the lagoon as well as one of two sparkling clean swimming pools. My only negative about this place is that we had to pack up and leave at the end of our holiday. Seriously, if you book this condo you won't regret it.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969I would highly recommend this property to all of my friends and family. There were plenty of towels for the beach and for the shower. There is more than adequate silverware and dishes including all types of pots and pans and cooking utensils. The view was second to none! The condo is on the top floor and has a beautiful view of the lagoon with the turtles in the morning in the afternoon and whales and dolphins way out in the ocean during the day.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We spent a month at Makaha Surfside. The area is not touristy, so there are few stores and facilities for tourists but it's between some of the most beautiful beaches on Oahu. Makaha State Beach Park is 5 min. by car or half an hour walking distance, for example. The property has two well-maintained pools but to me the best part was a small bay right in front of the condo (literally few yards from condo buildings) where you can snorkel and see tropical fish. The mountain and valley behind Makaha condos is splendid to look at and you can hike there too. The interior inside the units probably depends on the owner. Although the buildings are far from new, Ken keeps his unit ideally clean and in the best condition. It had everything we needed and Ken was always reachable by phone and email. But the best part is that his unit has the largest lanai and best view in the entire condo complex. We could see whales out in the sea and turtles in the bay in front of the condo--all from our lanai. The people working in the condo management office are nice and ready to help. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay here. It's not a newly built, luxurious condo but it's cozy and a good place to relax and enjoy the nature and it's more affordable than the majority of other places on the island. Some tips: 1) You can got to a supermarket or post office on foot; bus transportation to Honolulu is convenient; but to travel around the island you'll need a car. We stayed in the condo for a month and rented a car three times a couple of days each to do sightseeing. 2) I'd definitely recommend hiking the trail in Karena Point Natural Area Reserve (10 min by car north of the condo). The most beautiful seascape I've ever seen. We also saw some albatrosses nesting there. 3) If you'd like to go diving, there's a diving shop called Air at the Waianae boat harbor. The owner and dive-master, Steve, is very experienced and professional while still quite an easy-going person with a good sense of humor.
