Stayed Jun 8, 2025Our stay was relaxing.. The condo was clean, just needs some dish towels and adequate silverware, not enough. The condo has been re-done or updated. We like that the condo didn't have carpet and the floor was spotless. The TV's are HUGE, a little too huge for the master bedroom but everyone is different on their TV size. Bathrooms are lovely with amazing shower heads, no tub just shower. There is a Bidet on the toilet if needed. The master bedroom w king mattress is wonderful, so comfy and relaxing. . Second bedroom has a great memory foam mattress. The bedrooms have nice blinds, but our daughters condo had black-out curtains. We are up at 6-6:30 every morning with the sun so it never mattered to us to have blackout curtains. The weather was perfect while we were there. We did not need any AC, There was a wonderful cool breeze. Great sleeping weather. You are up in the clouds so they come in and then it clears up. Really beautiful to watch the clouds come in and leave. You can see Grandfather Mountain right off the balcony, literally right in front of us. Our daughter had a condo on the other side and had a view of the ski resort. There is an in-door heated pool and hot tub on the property, but we never used it. There were kids in it a lot but that's normal for families. The pool stayed open quite late which is nice. We did like that they had shopping carts you can use as you come in building for taking your grocery bags to your condo, very helpful. Just remember to return the grocery carts for others to use. Luggage carts were nice to have on hand as we had a lot to take up. It's very quiet and peaceful up there on that mountain. I imagine during ski season it's quiet busy and maybe not as peaceful. We just happened to go at a slow time and so busy at all. Because it was a slow time and only had 1 car, we got to park at the top by the condos. During busy season there is parking below and shuttle to take you back and forth to your car. There is a Food Lion grocery store and Lowe's food not far away. Nice coffee shop, Italian restaurant, and Chinese restaurant beside the Food Lion. grocery store. There was some construction in one of the condos while we were there but very minor. There is a quiet time at the condos, but they did their work after that was over. All in all we will come back as the view is just amazing. We will get the same condo again.

Stayed Dec 20, 2024The view was beautiful. However the staff was not friendly except for the shuttle drivers. They were great. The condo was dirty. We had to rewash all the dishes and bedding. Human hair was on the pillow. They will not allow guests to park at the building so if the shuttle is not available you have to walk up a steep hill. It was also 18 degrees that night. The TV did not have any stations so we could not watch much. For the price it was ok but I will not stay there again.

Stayed Jul 26, 2024Excellent spacious and clean unit with an amazing view. Unit owner is very helpful, and quickly responsive to texts and emails. The Unit is very quiet. It was a great convenience to have a full-size washer and dryer inside the unit. Very nicely furnished and decorated. There were just two of us and we loved it. Nice full-size kitchen appliances, including a dishwasher. There is both a Keurig, and a regular brew coffee maker. The showers were roomy and very nice. Nice large-screen tvs in the living room and master bedroom, but no instructions as to how to use the remotes. We golfed at the nearby Sugar Mountain Resort golf course, which is a very nice and fairly inexpensive course, at least off-season. FYI: The “air conditioning“ consists of a Hisense portable fan cooling unit in each of the 2 bedrooms. It helps, but it is not air conditioning. However there are ceiling fans in every room and during the summer months, the outside air is still fairly cool. It is wonderful to have a king sized bed in one of the bedrooms. Just a note however that it is a very firm, hard mattress with no pillow-top to cushion your body. It affected the quality of our sleep. The floors are all vinyl planks, and no carpeting, except for a few non-slip throw rugs. Front desk and shuttle staff are very friendly and helpful. The hot tub was just okay and the gym is extremely small and limited. Shuttle- You must park in a lot just downhill from the building and shuttle back and forth. It is not as convenient as parking at the building, but it turned out to be no problem, and staff is quick to pick up at both the lot and the condo. We had a great stay and would come back to this unit.

Stayed Jun 12, 2024The mountaintop view was amazing, our side had a spectacular view of Grandfather Mountain. The drive down the mountain isn’t bad, and it’s close enough to the major attractions. The room itself is great. The only opportunities here are that the dryer is currently being vented into the room, but with the health risks that poses I’m sure that will be taken care of soon. Also, this whole Sugar Top property only allows parking next to the building during the week. On the weekend, you have to park in the lower lot next to the gatehouse and take a shuttle up to the property, which is not a big deal, only a short 1 minute drive and the shuttle drivers are VERY knowledgable about the area and can provide great suggestions. I’ve also never had to wait longer than a minute for the shuttle either way. Overall, this is a great property and room I’d recommend to anyone with the given caveats above.
