Stayed Jan 9, 2025The unit is managed by Traverse Hospitality (who, apparently, sits heavily on the short rental market in Leadville). They state in the listing that you will receive a weblink outside the platform that directs guests to our guidebook for check-in procedures and others, but they DON'T tell you that the payment is to be made outside the VRBO platform.Back to the stay - we did not expect much of the unit, but we were somewhat disappointed with it. What they don't state is that you have an almost 1-foot step down to get to the bathroom and shower and that the shower is so tiny you can hardly turn in it (max 2.5'x2.5'); another issue is that it takes forever for hot water to come to shower and faucets - and prey that the other people haven't taken showers yet, as you otherwise would run out of hot water mid-shower.Cleanliness was also disappointing; though the unit wasn't dirty per se, quite a bit of dog hair was found - well, due to static electricity, the dog hairs found our clothing.Traverse Hospitality, though, was responsive when contacted. When we arrived, the unit was only 54 degrees, and within 30 minutes, someone got to the unit building and fired the boiler up again. They were also very responsive when we asked for extra blankets. However, the bottom line is that this unit is not for occupancy; it seems to be an old garage that was rebuilt somehow to accommodate people. There is no extraction from the shower or toilet, and the unit very quickly feels stuffed.

Stayed Jul 5, 2020Hiker's Haven was perfect for what we wanted! I picked up my husband from the CO Trail to give him a night of respite and resupply. The apartment had everything we needed for cooking and the unit was spacious enough and very comfortable. Looked like the pots & pans, dishes, cutlery, linens were all brand new. Pricey for just one night with the VRBO/cleaning fees added on but definitely worth it. Great location as well. Thank you, we enjoyed our stay!

Stayed May 25, 2020The checkin process was easy. The apartment was located in a trekker/mountain climbers dream area. When you left the front door of apartment you were looking at Mt. Elbert and Mt. Massive. In morning both mountains were a pink in color from the snow caps and morning sunrise. The apartment was a great base camp location! The apartment was very clean, good decor, with great amenities. After a day on the mountains or trekking Interlaken/Willis Gulch (short drive) the apartment was a haven for r&r, and downtown shops was a easy walk. The open concept made cooking, relaxing on couch/TV, and bed time easy. It is a older building. The apartment is very functional for the individual/couple who want to be close to great outdoor activities, but want to return to comfort. I am looking forward to another stay in the future when I climb/trek other 14’ers in Lake County, Colorado. Scott
