It was an amazing home like a castle. Lots of things to do there.
Owner was great answering questions. We will not stay again unless the cleanliness is improved greatly
Interesting theme home that needs a deep clean. No access to river. Kids enjoyed themselves.husband was allergic to the bath towels and broke out in hives.
Awesome concept home with space and the place was as advertised. This close to the water, bugs were definitely a thing and we got our steps in moving between floors. The upstairs was divided into sections with a decorative partition, but the space worked for us.
We absolutely loved staying at this one-of-a-kind property and discovering its little quirks. The kids hunted geodes down at the river and found a lot! Owner was very helpful and responsive. Would absolutely stay again or recommend to a friend.
My teenagers LOVED staying in a castle! There's just something about a turret, right?! Favorite things: 1) the castle, obviously. 2) The views of the Mississippi River were gorgeous, especially at sunset. 3) There was a mess up with our welcome email so we didn't have the door code, but communicating with the owner was super fast and easy and we were in right away. 4) Plenty of TVs and viewing options. Less great things (not necessarily things the owner can fix): 1) The oven burns the bottom of everything before cooking it all the way through and there are NO food staples in the kitchen - so bring everything with you. 2) There are 3 kinds of beds: a U of bunk beds, a queen bed in a private room upstairs (meaning, it has a door), and a king bed in the upstairs living room set apart with a screen. The queen and the king share the upstairs bathroom. Luckily, my kids all slept down in the bunk beds so my husband and I had the upstairs private to ourselves (no door, but our kids are old enough to not come upstairs), but if someone was sleeping in the queen, there's no privacy. 3) There are showers in the two downstairs bathrooms, but the upstairs bath only has a clawfoot tub and a shower wand, which is great for baths, less so for showering (no curtain). We just showered downstairs.
We really enjoyed our stay. The house was well stock and had everything we needed creating the comfort of home. Love the peaceful environment overlooking the old man Mississippi River. Such beautiful sunsets. We will be back
A beautiful and unique home, with an amazing view and all the amenities to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable.
Beautiful location. Beautiful home. Kids loved vacationing in a castle. Loved the piano. It was put to good use. Saw at least one eagle almost every morning perched on dead tree by the river. Bunk beds were a hit with kids. Tastefully decorated and very comfortable. Very nice hot tub. Great location to ancient burial mounds.
My family was visiting the Mormon/LDS history area and watching the pageants and enjoyed our stay. My kids liked the bunk beds and my parents and I took the two beds upstairs. This is a great property to stay with family but I would keep in mind, it’s not private enough that I’d want to share the rental with a friend. The two beds upstairs that an adult would sleep in, one is a private bed room, the other is in a screened area of like a lofted sitting room so that room is traveled through to visit the shared restroom or to access the stairs. Since I was traveling with my parents, it was fine for us. The bunks are on the bottom floor, so it was good for my kids who are old enough not to need me for anything at night but this probably isn’t a good fit for a very young family because the parents would be two flights of stairs away from little kids in an unfamiliar home and would need close supervision for safety since the home is on a steep hill leading down to the river. Many roads in this area are steep and unpaved gravel so keep that in mind if you are traveling in a rental car…you may prefer an SUV. Friend of ours were in a Toyota minivan and rented a house just up the road from us and the steep gravel roads really beat up the rear end of their van! Also note that the roads are not only steep gravel but very narrow too, so knowing that now I’d plan your arrival during daylight hours! (Sorry if all that is too much *extra* but I was traveling here from out of town so I was unfamiliar with the area!
We really enjoyed the views of the river and all the separate spaces to relax. Each of the three levels has its own space to relax or watch TV. We could let the kids be loud in the basement and have two other levels to relax away from the kids. Great space for all of us.
House is really beautiful, and has a beautiful view of the Mississippi. Location to Historic Nauvoo was great. House was very well stocked with trash bags, soap, dish detergent, towels, etc. I did have to call to get the code for check-in, but that was easy, and I never receive checkout instructions, so I wasn’t really sure what those were. There is also a weird smell upstairs, maybe the carpets need cleaned. The oven on the main level did not work. Overall, great place, very unique, and we enjoyed our stay!
Enjoyed our stay!
We loved everything about the home from the location to the look, to the games and the spaces. The kids had a great time downstairs. The main floor was a great place to meet and eat. And the upstairs was great for the adults. We would have loved to have spent more time at the house. If I were to do it all over again, I would plane another day or two just to give us time to hang out at the house!
This property is beautiful and was perfect for 8 of us. We especially enjoyed the large deck and the wonderful view of the Mississippi River. It truly is a castle, with 2 beautiful kitchens and multiple bathrooms. We will definitely stay here again, if we get back to Nauvoo. It is located conveniently to LDS Church history sites
Great
The property was perfectly situated to enjoy the beautiful serenity of the Mississippi River, and was spacious enough for a large family group.
This place was amazing the decorum matched the ambiance of the region. Loved the property entirely
This property is great. The house/ castle is awesome. Kids loved it, especially bunk beds. The owners thought of everything. You just need to bring some food and yourself. Great view also
