Cross Village, Michigan
Our sunset chalet offers a quiet setting on 40 acres of woods and farm fields. Sit on the deck while enjoying panoramic views over Lake Michigan including Beaver Island continuing north towards Wilderness State Park, four lighthouses and the sanddunes in the Upper Penninsula. Wildlife such as deer, wild turkeys, cranes, eagles and many other birds are abundant in the area. The dark sky is perfect for star gazing and not far from the "Dark Sky Park" near Mackinaw.
The chalet has a complete kitchen, full bath and a spacious living room on the main floor. The upstairs has two bedrooms each with a queen bed, a sitting room with twin trundle beds, a full bathroom and walk out deck.
Cross Village has a local beach with swimming and a small boat launch. More public beaches are located to the north at Sturgeon Bay with miles of beach and hiking trails which include the North Country Trail. Cross Village is located at the north end of the Tunnel of Trees on M-119. There are three nice restaurants near the village, Legs Inn, Petoskey Brewing and the Crow's Nest. Cross Village is only 20 minutes away from Harbor Springs and Mackinaw City. A day trip to Mackinac Island is a favorite for visitors. Boyne Highlands, Maple Ridge and Hidden River are available for golf.
This is a great place for hiking , biking, swimming or just relaxing and curling up to read a book.

The property was fabulous and as described! The chalet was wonderful, so peaceful and quiet and serene!! We will look to come back again! Thanks so much!!!
Beautiful spot very quiet get-away!
Wonderful!
Property was as described, very serene and beautiful. Check in check out was straight forward. Either just enjoying the quietness and privacy of the place or visiting nearby attractions this place checks all boxes. Place was stocked with all appliances and utensils in the kitchen. Sleeping areas were cozy and comfortable. The whole place was clean on top. Will stay here again and recommend to any one looking for seclusion and quiet. Thanks for letting us use use this property. If opportunity comes would love to stay again!!
This is the 2nd time we stayed here. The house is very clean and Margaret is just wonderful. What we like about it is the seclusion. So quiet and peaceful. Deer in the yard every morning and evening.Close enough drive to all attractions. Hope to stay again. Highly recommend.
Overall the property is quite nice, but not as described. When we rented, the property was not described as an active farm. All of those photos of lush, green rolling hills are currently barren, tilled, corn fields. Many acres of forest were recently clear cut and fenced off. There are now a couple herds of cows on the property. The owners claim the rental has 60 acres, but that's split between them and their child whom lives on the property. (This also wasn't listed.) This property also has weird rules about trash disposal, they want you to compost the food scraps, carry some materials to the local fire department, leave other things on site etc. It was literally a 10 step process. They also don't allow any fires. This is hidden on the post... you have to go to house rules and click show more. I guess that one's on me, but what kind of cabin doesn't support camp fires? The building itself was in alright condition. You can see a sliver of the lake from the house and the property was relatively quiet.
We had an outstanding experience staying at this place. We loved the large windows, French doors, the views of the property and Lake Michigan. We saw several deer including two bucks rutting. The kitchen was spacious and the island convenient. There was pots and pans of all sizes available, more than one could need. So close to Leggs Inn. We were lucky enough to watch northern lights, two nights in a row, from the upstairs balcony. The quiet outside and inside the cottage was so comforting, nurturing and rejuvenating. Only Nature sounds. We saw turkeys, sandhill cranes, northern flickers and even a bald eagle. We are hoping to visit this lovely property again, soon and enjoy the beauty, peace and quiet once again. Thank you Margaret.
My mom and I stayed for a week in August. The home is comfortable and clean and had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable. The views were wonderful and at night the stars were so big. It was our first experience with this heating and cooling system and it worked perfectly. If we come back to the area we will see if this property is available!
This was our second time staying at this home. We love how tranquil and beautiful the property is and Barbara is wonderful!
Wonderful as always!
The house was clean and perfect for our family vacation. Close to Mackinac Island, Legs Inn, and Harbor Springs, yet we still had the privacy and remoteness we wanted. The host met us there to show us around and gave us tips on the best beaches.
We had a wonderful week at the chalet. It had everything we needed as far as necessities, and then some, while maintaining a laidback cabin interior. Everything was comfortable and clean! The home has so many wonderful views of the surrounding fields and woods. It was easy to just enjoy the sounds of birds and frogs from the wraparound porch or inside with the doors open. Margaret responded to any question quickly and let us know of fun nearby outings. We spent many late afternoons at Lake Michigan on Sturgeon Bay which is part of a State Park and undeveloped. This was our favorite place to be. Perfect for kayaking, swimming, rock collecting and just being in the sand with the woods surrounding the beach. The family all agreed that this was a place to come back to. Thank you, Margaret and Stan, for sharing this wonderful, peaceful place with us!
Our host Margaret was very friendly and accommodating. The property was one of the best we have ever stayed at. House very clean, location's peace and quiet is a rare find, and the property around it is beautiful. We loved it and will be back.
I truly enjoyed our stay here...It was extremely clean, very comfortable, and just beautiful. The kitchen had all we needed, the beds were very comfortable, and the location was superb. Wifi was easily sufficient for all 5 of us. The views and wildlife were wonderful, and the stargazing was great. I wholeheartedly recommend this stay to anyone wishing to get away without sacrificing comfort and convenience.
Great property, gorgeous views, and awesome host. My family had a great stay. Margaret communicated very well from booking to arrival. Will definitely stay again when in the area.
