Stayed Aug 7, 2025If you’ve ever dreamed of paying top dollar to babysit a cleaning lady’s toddler while marinating in the sweet aroma of raw sewage congratulations, your dream rental exists. We arrived after the requested check-in time (because we’re those annoying “on time” guests) and were greeted not with keys, but with cleaners still scrubbing and a request to watch their 3–4 year old child for two and a half hours. Cute kid, honestly. Still, not exactly in the booking description.Once we were finally “checked in,” the fun continued: bugs crawling around, a grill with no propane, holes in the wall exposing live wires (shocking!), and the overwhelming stench of the actual septic tank wafting through the house like a nightmare-scented candle. The tap water tasted like it came straight from a rusty pipe that held a dead animal, and the pool table was missing balls — perfect if you enjoy games of “imaginary billiards.”We politely told the owner about all this and, instead of an apology, got accused of stealing a lamp and a tub of Folgers coffee. Newsflash: we have photo proof the lamp never existed, and no one in our group touched the coffee. The owner was never in touch only to claim that we stole their items, neglected property, and a “customer experience” that could double as a case study in how not to run a rental. Book it only if your vacation fantasy involves septic smells, bug infestation and gals accusations!!!

Stayed Apr 9, 2025This was a unique home that offered games, and entertainment for the whole family in a nice simi secluded neighborhood. The view from the deck was lovely. And the house has lights strung around it for nice ambiance. The electric fire table was super nice for one cool evening. Beds were comfy and lots of space. We could not find a wine opener at the house and there were no wine glasses. The coffee pot is a small 4 cup pot. The water tastes funny out of the faucet but there was filtered water in the fridge and next to the coffee pot. The sliding back door was not closing properly. Everything else was great! Loved the house and would return! Host was very responsive. We paid the 5k deposit to avoid the 119.00 insurance coverage.

Stayed Feb 5, 2025I choose this site because we were attending my nieces wedding. A very an important day for her and she means the world to me. The site was near the venue. We were pleasantly surprised with the views of the hill country. It’s an older home but kept very clean. There were some unpleasant smells outside which made hard to enjoy the views. The amenities need some updating. Like cookware needs to be updated and towels had a moldy smell.

Stayed Jan 2, 2025I rented this home while visiting family in the Austin area. We had 5 adults, 2 teenagers and had plenty of space for eating, entertainment and lounging. There are 2 den areas with nice, large TVs, pool table, foosball and classic arcade. The house was clean and all beds were very comfortable. FYI, there is no bedroom on the main level. Unfortunately, it rained a few days and we only got to enjoy the decks one day and take in the amazing views. The kitchen is stocked for basic needs for preparing small meals and huge plus was the air fryer. Another awesome feature of this home are the amazing murals. They are even more vibrant than in the listing. All of the decor is very cool and eclectic and gives the home such a fun, warm vibe.

Stayed Jul 17, 2024The house was beautifully decorated and they went out of their way to add little extra touches. There was something for everyone to do and the view was spectacular. Was able to get a perfect view of the sunset and sunrise. Would highly recommend this place.

Stayed Nov 15, 2023We really enjoyed our stay at the Austin Mt Chalet! It's a spacious house with plenty of room inside and out. From the pictures, it looks like there is a garage, but it has been reclaimed for the game room and 4th bedroom. This was fine, though as there is plenty of room to park in the circle drive out front. We loved the location as it was very quiet with a beautiful view of the hill country, but still close to Austin when we went to Q2 for a game and UT for a college tour. Next time we will bring our telescope as the skies are very dark and there is a great view of the eastern sky from the decks! We had some excellent Tex-Mex at Bajo La Luna, but also loved being able to grill kabobs on the back deck. Overall, it was a very enjoyable property!
