Murphy, North Carolina
Fish and relax just feet from the Nottely River! One of a kind riverfront property located on the beautiful Nottely River and next to a 25 acre meadow. We have upgraded the internet to Starlink. No more unbelievably slow HughesNet or DISH internet! We also upgraded the Wi-Fi and added two brand new Roku TVs. Enjoy the wild turkey, deer, and abundant wild life, or go trout fishing just feet from the chalet. Relax on the rockers on the covered porch or the riverside gazebo as you listen to the rapids from the fish trap that was made by the indigenous Indians in times gone by. The property is located at the end of a mile long dirt road on a level 1 acre fenced lot. True end of the road privacy!
The property includes two 1,200 sq. ft. chalets and is located just 15 minutes from Murphy NC and Blairsville GA. Antique shops and flea markets are just minutes away. Rent one or both chalets for the perfect getaway! Combined, the two chalets sleep 10. The Tranquil Chalet sleeps 6 and the Trout Chalet sleeps 4.
Our family spent years camping. We always hoped to get one of the camp sites next to the creek at Vogel State Park so we could relax to the sounds of the rushing water. That rarely happened…
As my wife and I grew older, we got tired of the walk to the communal bathroom, lousy showers, lack of privacy, and the not so great sleep in the camper. As our kids grew older, the allure of sleeping in a tent with no WiFi faded so we set out in search of the next best thing that allows us to enjoy all of the outdoor benefits of camping, but with all the comforts of home. We found it at River Run!
We chose this property because it is very unique and incredibly relaxing. You can rent one or both chalets depending on your needs. The covered wrap-around metal roofed porches are just feet from the Nottely River. You can fish, hike, go antiquing, sit by the fire and listen to the river, BBQ on the outdoor grill, watch the cows graze across the river, or just sit on the porch in the rockers and enjoy the sights and sounds of the Nottely River.
The two chalets offer something for all members of the family to enjoy while on vacation:
• Husband can trout fish while the wife goes antiquing. The best of both worlds!
• Rent both chalets and give your teenagers the privacy they want and the privacy you desire.
• Ideal for two families to vacation together and still give each other privacy.
• Ideal for a family reunion.
• Do the adults want to sleep in a real bed and take a shower in a real bathroom but the kids want to camp We have tents and sleeping bags for the kids so they can sleep in the great outdoors next to the fire. Kind of like camping but much better for the adults!
• Kayak or tube down the Nottely River. The property is 2.5 miles downstream from Nottely dam. You can get into the river at the base of the dam.
• Rent a pontoon boat on nearby Lake Nottely.
The fish themed Trout Chalet is designed to be giant game room with beds. It includes WiFi, vintage Xbox, Ping Pong, and air hockey. Got a moody teenager with friends who want their privacy Or wants to play their music too loud Or wants to watch something different on TV No problem! The Trout Chalet is the perfect kid’s getaway while you enjoy the peace and relaxation of the Tranquil Chalet. They are happy and you are happy! Perfect!
The Tranquil Chalet is more refined and is ideal for those looking for a more relaxed experience with just the adults in mind, but the kids are welcome! They just won’t have as much fun as staying in the Trout Chalet…
Tranquil Chalet (Red Metal Roof):
• Sleeps 6

It was a perfect relaxing spot and just what we needed. Will definitely stay here again!
Overall it was a great trip! The reviews on the water there are 100% correct - bring bottled water! I also recommend bringing breakfast food and snacks… we usually eat out the whole vacation so we don’t have to cook or do dishes, but everything to eat is 20 plus minutes out. The husband and kid loved fishing the creek and the fiend was gorgeous to just look at and drink coffee. Would absolutely stay again.
The cabin it self was excellent, the road to it was terrible, good thing I had a 4-wheel drive, I don't mind a dirt road but my god.access to the water was very limited especially when they opened the dam, no way to use a fly rod. also if you could get the grounds keeper to mow a path to where you get in the water your guest would not spend time picking off hitchhikers, but we still enjoyed our stay. Please trim the cedars so they don't scratch larger vehicals.
My husband, 11 year old son, and I stayed here over Labor Day Weekend and it was just what we needed! The property is beautifully maintained and so comfortable. It’s off the beaten path but a short drive to downtown Murphy, which was super cute! We kayaked through the Riverwalk area during the day and relaxed on the porch at night. Communication with the owners was fantastic as well. We will definitely return!
Went for sone peace and quiet and it is what we got. Chalet was clean, great amenities, and well appointed. Had a wonderful time sitting on the porch rocking and watching the river go by. Will say that the road to the property is a single car dirt road. We arrive in the evening and the road was intimidating with the fog and darkness, but once there it was wonderful. Also, the water was hard so be aware when washing. Other then two very minor things will be booking our next trip, possibly for the fall next time.
The property was great! The house had everything I needed and was decorated beautifully. I really enjoyed sitting on the porch listening to the river and the rain on the tin roof!!! Definitely enjoyable, relaxing much needed moments!
Great place except the driveway.
The property is lovely and there is a lot of room for family fun on the grounds. Beds were comfortable but bring your own pillow for best comfort. The dirt road leading to the property is a mile long and rather rutted out so we would leave once and come back once. Not a location to come and go often. The river entrance is on the adjacent property and is good for fishing or getting in the river only.
We loved our stay and had a great time. So very peaceful on the river So beautiful. Would stay there again.
There are a few warnings I'd like to give to anyone renting this property. One, the road is a single car dirt road with man curves and takes about 10 mins to travel down. Also whomever stayed before us clearly did not follow instructions and left the doors open leaving us to battle at least 50 flies in the house. Cell service is nonexistent and the wifi is quite spotty due to sharing it with the other cabin. The downstairs bed is awfully uncomfortable, we slept on the couch the last night. If there are fish in that river, both us and the neighbors are the worst fishermen ever. Also would encourage everyone to really check the TVA website, they ran generators from 3 to 7 daily and the water rose 4 feet quite quickly. If you're a poc and are uncomfortable with people staring, I wouldn't suggest visiting the town of Murphy. Overall the property is beautiful and has everything you could need to enjoy a glamping sort of experience. We kayaked up the river and enjoyed nature and saw multiple deer and turkey in the field next door. If you are in search of things to do outside of the casino you'll need to travel a bit. Also another warning .. if you decide to visit Hiwassiee Dam Joe Brown road is about an hour and a half circle where you'll have zero cell service. I would recommend this property if you want a beautiful place to sleep at night and a plan to visit neighboring Blue Ridge Mountains.
