Perfect mountain getaway for your home base while you're exploring all that Colorado has to offer in the summer, or if you're looking for a quiet place to relax. The Trail House is a wonderful mountain home conveniently located just outside the quaint town of Woodland Park. Activity choices are almost unlimited so whether you want to explore the great outdoors, visit the nearby Dinosaur Resource Center, head into the nearby towns, or just sit and relax on the deck it's all up to you.
The space
The Trail House is a great mountain getaway located just 15 minutes from the small town of Woodland Park. Guests enter through the front door which is three steps down from the parking area. Our home is comprised of 3 levels - the main floor which includes the living room, bathroom, kitchen, and dining area. Upstairs is a loft with a queen bed and downstairs are a full and twin bed, another bathroom, and utility room, with a washer and dryer, and a place to hang clothes. There are two decks the larger of which is located off the main floor and includes outdoor patio furniture along with a wrought iron table, umbrella and set of chairs. The other is located outside of the sliding door on the lower level. There is a private backyard but often it is covered with native plants.
On the drive up from Woodland Park you will have the chance to see some of Colorado's iconic wildlife such as elk, mule deer, fox, and wild turkeys. You'll also have some spectacular views of Pikes Peak.
From the summer festivals in Woodland Park, to the eclectic shops in Manitou Springs, to world class trout fishing, hiking and ATV trails, to numerous state parks and national forest recreation areas, to the excitement of casinos in Cripple Creek (which boasts the highest casino in the world!), not to mention all the activities in nearby Colorado Springs, highlighted by the Garden of the Gods, Cave of the Winds, and Manitou Cliff Dwellings. We are confident that there is something for everyone to enjoy!
Guest access
Guests have access to the entire house.
Other things to note
***4WD or AWD is recommended during the spring, fall and winter since guests may experience winter conditions at any time, and Host is not responsible for guest towing.

Also, when using water (flushing the toilet, bathing, washing hands, laundry, dishes, etc.) you will hear the motor-type sound of our pump as it refills the tank. This is normal, and typically runs in short bursts. The pump is located in the laundry room under the stairs.

Loved the cabin! It had everything our family needed from cookware to toiletries and fans and blankets etc. it is just far enough out of town to see wildlife and have a great view of pikes peak. It is a short drive to town give or take 5-10 minutes depending how bumpy the dirt roads were. I was grateful for my husbands truck as it was rainy and muddy while we were there. I would stay here again!

This was a great location. Away from the city, but close enough to be convenient. The house was in great shape and clean.

We had a great stay here! My only concern was that there were no baby gates to block the stairs. But otherwise a great location.

Quiet, somewhat secluded from neighbors, and beautiful area. Roads did wash out with heavy rains so appropriate vehicle is a must.

The property was great. Very clean and set up well. However, the drive and finding it was not so great. I screenshot the directions but not the address (bad mistake). The directions were fine until the end where it said no more turns from this point maybe no turns but several curves. The roads are not continually marked, so it's hard to tell if you are on the correct road. It wouldn't have been such an issue, but we ended driving past the house and proceeded up two very steep hill where the road had been washed out in long ditches When we get to the top, we realize we have to go back down the very steep, washed out road. It would have been nice to have had the address in the directions as it was written, by the time we realized the directions were not clear, my friend was searching for the address. Just a total fiasco and really glad we didn't suffer damages to my vehicle. And, yes it is an all-wheel drive with off-road settings which you definitely will need if it should happen to rain. We were very lucky it stayed dry.

Lovely stay, clean home and a real cabin on the woods. It wasnt snowing but we had plenty of snow in the back yard that the kids played with and enjoyed. The road isnt a gravel road just not pave so it wasnt to bad coming and going from the cabin. Walmart is 15 mins away. The kids loved their room plenty of toys and things to do.had a great trip over all.

We loved our stay here with friends. So peaceful and not too far from civilization. The home was very well stocked and well appointed. It worked great for two couples each having their own bedroom and bath. We had a minivan for June/July which worked fine but a 4x4 during the fall through spring would be highly recommended!!
