Luxurious, rustic, private vacation home with great view.

Everything was really top notch. The view was fantastic. Very comfortable place with nice layout. Neat decor and antiques. Something new to see everywhere I looked. Easy to feel at home. Great hot tub, fire pit, and balcony with grill. Nice lakes in the development. Owner Jim made several great recommendations for stuff to do in the area. Close to Blackwater Falls, Seneca Rocks, and horseback riding in Canaan Valley State park. Smoke hole caverns was not too far too and pretty cool. We even did an enjoyable day trip to New River Gorge National Park and Babcock state park (2.5 hours away, but easy drive for us). Had a great vacation.

Absolutely beautiful location. We spent a week here for our honeymoon and loved it! Very private with no neighbors. We were next to the creek and opened the windows at night to hear the birds and water. Enjoyed taking our kayaks to the lakes onsite and caught lots of fish. Cabin was extremely well maintained with beautiful architecture throughout and nice stone showers. Fireplace was perfect for chilly evenings. Would highly recommend, and hope to come back for an anniversary.

Voyager Rest is a truly unique house. It is situated on over 7 lovely acres with amazing views. It is a secluded, quiet (except for birds singing), and relaxing location. The kitchen is particularly well equipped with most anything you would need. The covered deck off the living area was a favorite place to be for all of us.

This was a charming and comfortable base for biking and hiking in the Canaan Valley and areas beyond. We appreciated both the privacy of the bedrooms and the ample space in the living/dining room and kitchen. Nice views off the balcony, easy to use hot tub added to our enjoyment of the property.

We loved everything about this cabin and would highly recommend it. The cabin was very clean and exactly as pictured. We enjoyed hiking trails nearby that had beautiful waterfalls as well as canoeing and fishing at the lakes in the area. The hot tub was amazing! The home owner Jim was very friendly and informative about things to do in the area.

The property is lovely and peaceful. We can't wait to find a way back in the Fall. The owners have collected and created such an interesting and comfy space to relax. We'll be back for sure.

The home was the best vrbo choice we have ever made. Stunning Mountain view, secluded but accessible, and ample space for such a comfortable stay. The beautiful kitchen was a treat. We so enjoyed the world travel artifacts that the host has generously shared as furnishings. Spotlessly clean. Great hot tub. Convenient laundry. Unique cavelike stone showers! We would have enjoyed the firepit if not for inches of beautiful snow that fell. during our spring break stay. The driveway was plowed before we woke up! We would love to return!

Incredible views and amazing sunsets over the ridge from the hot tub! Not to mention a history lesson and discovery of antiquities from your world travel collection. We had a fantastic time, loved the chess board and great working kitchen. Would liked to have hand soap in all of the bathrooms when applicable. Thank you again.....

We have stayed at Voyager's Rest several times now and always enjoy our stay. It is comfortable and clean and the setting is gorgeous. We skied, hiked and enjoyed the hot tub. Jim is a great host and has given us grace on our arrival and departure times - which we appreciate! Looking forward to returning in 2027.

Voyager Rest was beautiful, had everything we needed, and the host provided a very helpful guide to the place and the area before we arrived. We were also very impressed with how the driveway was maintained and accessible, since we arrived in the middle of winter and after a snow storm!

This property checks all the boxes. It was ideally located for skiing Timberline. The house is beautiful with loads of room and a gourmet kitchen. The fireplace is great and the hot tub was prefect! Couldn't ask for a better place to stay. 5 stars all the way.

This place is absolutely perfect! There is so much charm and character, you have to see it to believe it! The beds are comfy, the showers are great and the hot tub was very clean and enjoyable. This place is amazing. The host has truly captured the feel of the Yorkshire Dales in England. The house is filled with notable and interesting antiques and collectibles that add charm and interest everywhere you look. We fully appreciated that the community is gated. There are deer everywhere. And the view from the deck is expansive and beautiful.

This was our fourth or fifth time staying at Jim’s place. We are repeat guests for a reason. As always the house was awesome. We celebrated our anniversary spending time in Thomas and Davis, frequently at the Billy Motel and Purple Fiddle. When we were at home we had a fire going constantly. The ambience is awesome. It snowed A LOT our last night and I thought we’d be in trouble. Jim had a plow truck come out that morning and cleared the driveway for us. As always, thanks Jim!

What a unique house! The location was beautiful. But the best part was all the crazy Knick Knacks. Every nook and cranny had some kind of doll or statue or things I had no idea what it was. So many beautiful things from around the world. Half the fun was trying to find them all. The bathrooms all had full stone showers. Not tile, but stone slabs. This was such a fun house to stay in. I wouldn’t recommend it if you have small children, but it’s a must for adults. The kitchen had top of the line appliances. Beds were comfy.

The owner's incredible taste, attention to detail, and obvious insistence on the highest quality construction and components is evident everywhere you look . . . absolutely wonderful place!

Our second time staying at this home. Very nice. Love the accessibility to Dolly Sods. Very unique home! The hot tub is an added bonus. Great way to start your day and a great way to relax at night.

Overall impression of Voyager Rest is there's no other place like it! This was our 2nd stay. We originally came with only a few family members a couple yrs ago and knew we wanted to bring the rest of our family for a future visit. We finally made that happen! This unique location is still a family favorite! We've been visiting the area for over 30 yrs. Jim's place is full of so much charm & peace it feels like a home away from home. The few days we were here we adventured to Dolly Sods for a day of hiking, climbing & foraging for blueberries & huckleberries. We enjoyed cooking our meals in the well equipped kitchen but also enjoyed a meal out at the Canaan Valley BBQ (highly recommend). The day we arrived was just after 2 days of camping at Blackwater Falls. We had lots of fun visiting the usual sites: Pendleton Point, Falls, etc. We were sad to see that the Sawmill Restaurant had closed! Though Milo's Cafe was lovely, we do wonder how the local lumberjacks like the avocado toast w/ goat cheese, lol. We did enjoy the day strolling through the galleries of Thomas & Davis before we arrived. The view from the deck as you sip your morning coffee or enjoy dinner with the sunset are breathtaking. The hot tub is a lovely treat. The layout of the whole place is just cozy & enlightening with stories for the senses. We had some great visits to both the nearby lakes. Thanks for allowing us to take in a little piece of your heaven, Mr. Hopkins. We look forward to our next stay!

Lux home base for outdoor fun. We enjoyed our summer stay at this lovely home. It was perfect for adventuring outdoors and then coming back to a relaxing retreat with luxurious amenities, including a state-of-the-art kitchen, hot tub and stone shower. WiFi pretty good for a mountain, but keep in mind if you have work to do remotely, it may not be able to handle intense applications. Owner was very communicative and easily reachable for any issues that arose. Another plus was that our dog was welcome. I think he might have had even more fun than us.

Nice property with beautiful and private surroundings. The eclectic decorations from all over the world make it feel like a museum. Jim was a helpful host and easy to get in contact with. We cooked most meals at the house. The kitchen is well equipped. Beds were comfortable.

We’ve stayed there for about 7 years and will be back next year.

We love this VRBO cabin so much that we’ve stayed multiple times. Its eclectic decor adds to the enjoyment of our stay. It has plenty of space for our family and is located near some of the most beautiful natural sites in the world. Blackwater Falls, Seneca Rocks, etc. The views from the cabin are perfect for watching deer, sunsets, and enjoying nature.

This cabin was awesome and filled with unique treasures from the owner's world travels. The view was beautiful, the beds were very comfortable and the hot tub was wonderful. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to make our meals. They even had hummingbird nectar and we filled the feeder and were able to see the hummingbirds a lot during our stay. We went fishing in the nearby Sand Run Lake and caught some bass. This was a great location since it was close to Canaan Valley and Blackwater Falls State Parks.

You have to see it to truly appreciate it! This place will fill you with awe and motivation. The views, both in and out of the cabin, will make your mind wonder on and on. The place has everything you might need and the customer service, both from the owner, and from the staff, will make you feel like you’ve all been long time friends. I cannot recommend this place enough and I can’t wait to be back!

This was our second time at this property. This time we took our two boys. They loved it just as much as we did. The location is perfect for hiking during the day. And the house is perfect for enjoying each others' company in the evenings. The host has always been super helpful. My youngest son didnt want to leave and is making plans to return in the future.

Despite the chilly weather, we enjoyed our stay tremendously. Or perhaps BECAUSE of the chilly weather? While we did get out to explore (Blackwater Falls and Canaan Valley State Parks) during the sunny days, we slept in late each morning and returned in the afternoon to curl up by the fireplace with books and music. We cooked all of our meals in the well-stocked kitchen and dined together “at home.” The beds were very comfortable and made with high quality linens. Showering was even a treat! The collections on display kept us entertained throughout our stay. I’m sure we didn’t take in everything over the three days. At night we relaxed in the hot tub, under the stars. We look forward to visiting again during a different season so we can see more of the local area.

We had a wonderful time with dear friends in this one of a kind amazing house! This property is gorgeous, it has an amazing view of the valley, is very well maintained and is truly unique! I would recommend this house for anyone looking for a place to relax, unwind and enjoy the area an friends!

Beautiful, secluded and comfortable home. Home was unique and decorated with treasurers from around the world. We only left to grab some dinner take-out in the town of David. Spent majority of our time watching movies next to a warm fire. Loved the surround sound and the large stone shower downstairs. Slept in the loft room-super comfy! We plan to return next year! The location was very close to Black Water Falls were we visited the falls and Cannan Valley were we went tubing!

We enjoyed the many unique items throughout the home collected by the owner through their travels. The cabin was clean, well stocked, and very private with wonderful views. Communication was a little lacking, but there were no major issues. We would definitely stay again!

This home is so so special and we enjoyed another fantastic stay. Had great skiing weather a couple days, one day of rain but we played board games and enjoyed the hot tub. My 80 year old Mom slept till noon and I had to go wake her, the beds were so comfortable. Thanks again to Jim for such a fun place to take a wide range of people. We hated to leave!

Voyager Rest was perfect place for our quick trip to introduce our grandchildren to skiing. They loved exploring the rooms and the unique decor. The place is in a perfect location to the slopes at Timberline Mountain Ski Resort. It was easy to check in at the security gate and access the home. Very clean and well stocked with items you might need while away from home. Jim, the owner, was quick to reply with the front door code when VRBO didn't send it. He sent detailed instructions that covered any questions we might have had while there. The hot tub was a huge family favorite. Our dogs loved running around in the snow around the home. We didn't have trouble driving on the snow packed road to the place. we will definitely be returning!

My family and I loved this place. Location is just minutes from timberline, the cost was good and it had more character than any VRBO I've rented before. The views were top notch and the owner was very communicative. The pics do not do it justice. Would recommend to anyone and I can assure you we will be back

Three years in a row, and every time we visit Voyager's Rest we leave with a smile! Such a warm, cozy, and unique property to return to after a day in the snow.

My family (2 adults, 2 kids) and my parents had a fantastic time at the house, Voyager Retreat. The home is beautiful, very well built, which was reassuring during a winter storm with strong winds, and cozy. The decor is eclectic and enjoyable. The home amenities were perfect for our group and kept in great condition. The location is fantastic, secluded with a great view but also convenient to the local resorts. Hopefully we can return to enjoy a different season as I’m sure the summer and fall would be amazing.

Jim is a lovely and responsive host. The property is just as pictured on the website. The home is a treasure trove of objects from around the world. The bedrooms are comfortable and the kitchen has most all conveniences that we needed to prepare meals. We were there in early November, I'm sure it is even more beautiful during the summer and autumn months when you can enjoy the outside features.

The entire stay was fantastic! Voyagers Rest is a unique and beautiful place full of cozy treasures. It was well equipped with everything we needed to stay comfortably. Kitchen was full stocked with cooking essentials, beds were super comfortable and a soak in the hot tub was an amazing way to end the day! We enjoyed beautiful scenery, adventures hikes and plenty of family time and relaxation! We will definitely be back!!

Voyager Rest is a beautiful mountain retreat which possesses a timeless charm and a sense of privacy, peace and permanence that we loved. The lodge is filled with fascinating items from Owner Jim’s travels, both antique and simply unique, which fire the imagination and beg to tell their respective stories! We felt a bit like honored guests in a magical museum and we can’t wait to return!

This place was very relaxing. We enjoyed sitting on the deck and drinking our coffee in the morning. Also, the decor was a constant source of conversation as the house has art and knick knacks from around the world. I especially enjoyed a soak in the hot tub and the very excellent cave shower in the master bath. My daughter found a bunch of kid's toys in the room we put her in and the owner was not only okay with her playing with them but happy they were getting used. Overall, the owner was very responsive to my messages.
