Penzance, England
Although this beautiful Lodge is in a very private location, nestled close by woods and overlooking sea and stream, it is very centrally placed to all west Cornwall's best tourist locations. The 3 bedrooms and private, safe location make it perfect for extended families, couples and groups of friends. We pride ourselves on keeping the Lodge clean and welcoming and are on hand should you need any help or information. Inside the Lodge is a lot of local information including recommendations for places to eat and visit, as well as where to get some wonderful local food such fresh fish straight from the boats in the little fishing port of Newlyn. The pretty village of Gulval is 5 minutes walk away with a good pub with a child friendly menu.
The Lodge is very suitable for children with a large walk in shower, lots of books and many games, including a table tennis set that goes on the large dining table, this proves very popular what ever the weather! In the single bedroom is a good selection of toys for younger children. We also provide a travel cot and high chair. The kitchen area is well equipped with a fridge freezer, microwave, electric cooker and washing machine. There is plenty of crockery, cutlery and utensils so you should have everything you need. It has verandas to the front and back and an enclosed garden with a barbecue. There is private parking for 3 cars. Although the Lodge is all on one level there are 8 wooden steps up to the front door.
As we are half way way up a steep hill it is probably best if you have your own transport although we have had several groups of visitors who have come by train and had a very successful stay using public transport, taxi and walking. It has panoramic sea views to the front but to the side and rear are woods and orchards giving it a rural feel, you can often hear owls at night.
Penzance is a 5 minute drive or 30 minute walk with its range of restaurants and nightlife. We are in a perfect position to explore the wonderful beaches of Penwith and the famous coast path which passes by St Michael's Mount through the idyllic fishing village of Mousehole onto Lamorna Cove before reaching the towering and dramatic granite cliffs of Lands End. If you enjoy surfing then we are 15 minutes away from Sennen, Hayle and St Ives. We are spoilt for choice when it comes to culture with the famous Tate gallery in St Ives and excellent galleries in Newlyn and Penzance. Penzance has it's own thriving theatre and cinema. Penwith also has more ancient sites than any where in the country with many stone circles, dolmens and fogous.
Loved the views and tranqulity of the lodge, that comes at the price of being a little further out at the end of a bumpy track. Would have preferred the main bathroom window to have been at least half obscured. If the lodge had a hot tub it would be perfect!
First class! Well provisioned kitchen; large and comfortable bedrooms; quiet & beautiful location (rustling trees, bubbling brook and birdsong!); fabulous morning & afternoon sun decks... Helpful communication from Mandy with directions. Hope to come back one day soon. Definitely recommend :0)
We loved our week at the chalet - the house is perfectly set up with lots of thoughtful extras to make it homely and easy. My children loved that it was a tree house! Thanks for having us
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the lodge is very well located for exploring the local area and provides clean and comfortable accommodation which is a joy to return to, whether relaxing on one of the two outside decked spaces or inside in the comfy living areas. The lodge is very well equipped, the views good from its elevated position and the hosts very welcoming and helpful - thoroughly recommended!
We loved the chalet because it was warm and cosy throughout. We liked being able to sit outside - breakfast on the terrace on New Year's Day morning was especially fun. The children loved their snuggly beds. There was loads of room for our three adults and two children to spread out. Mandy (our host) was so welcoming - Flynn says she was amazing. If we can, we'll definitely do it again.
We had a marvellous stay at Helnoweth Lodge. Mandy was welcoming and helpful. The chalet was equipped with all necessities and many extras. I would highly recommend.
We had an amazing stay at this property, located off the beaten track with fabulous views of the sea and only a short walk into Penzance. We were greeted by Mandy who had left fresh flowers, a bottle of wine and milk in the fridge. The Chalet was beautifully equipped with everything you could need. The weather wasn't great for a few days but the place is so cosy we all just relaxed and played the vast selection of board games, much needed chill time. We will definitely be returning for another stay here.
Lovely lodge! Beautiful setting and well supplied with essentials and comfy beds!! Perfect location for exploring!
This is a quaint and cosy lodge, within easy reach of numerous sights such as St Michael's Mount, St Ives, Mousehole and Land's End and has its own view of the sea. The owner, Mandy, was very helpful and accommodating. We had a great time and would come again.
