The driveway is very difficult to find, particularly in the dark. If it weren’t for google we might not have found it. Glow in the dark numbers on the mailbox would help. House was quite nice, roomy and comfortable. Extra quiet!
This is a very suitable place for family bonding and at the same time enjoy nature.
Great location to Schoodic side of Acadia. Internet was a bit tricky at times
Very peaceful property. Short distance to many places. Enjoyed Bar Harbor’s amenities and everything around.
The house we perfect for a little family getaway. Private little area for us to all hang out and visit Acadia NP. The property is closer to Schoodic Peninsula than the main area of Acadia but the Peninsula was beautiful and peaceful! The house was clean, organized and matched the description!
This house was even better than the description. Great deck for star watching. Very clean and spacious for our family. About a 50 min drive to Acadia.
The cottage was located in a quiet area and was very close to the Schoodic Peninsula. It was clean and everything was accurately described.
Everything we needed was there. Minutes from Acadia park on Schoodic point. 40 minutes from main Acadia park on Mount desert isle, Bar Harbor and Cadillac mountain. Very secluded. Weather was perfect.
As soon as we stepped foot into the house, we were very pleased. We loved the open floor plan and the beautiful deck. We enjoyed playing baggo on the deck before the mosquitoes came out. It was also nice getting up early and sitting on the deck with coffee. My sister rented nearby and visited and we had a nice lobster dinner as the kids played video games (my nephews brought from home) downstairs on the large screen tv. The open floor plan allowed for us to enjoy one another with conversation, board games, and laughs. The host, Amy, knew we were in the area on the day of check-in and told us we could check in early which was greatly appreciated. She also told us of some fishing spots. Our day trips included walking along Winter Harbor/Schoodic Point, antique shopping at 1A Relic, shopping in Ellsworth boutiques, meeting up with a lobsterman for local lobsters and crabs, and of course, Bar Harbor & Acadia (Cadillac Mountain for sunset & Jordan Pond). People on other reviews mentioned that the house was hot and that the sun came through the livingroom windows which they felt should have blinds or curtains. Let it be noted that there is now an A/C system throughout the house and the air was very comfortable. And I love that the windows are kept uncovered as the scenery is beautiful in the back woods. We were constantly looking out the windows for wildlife.
Great location and high quality residence!
The property accommodated my family and small dog very well. We enjoyed our stay. The fact that it was August in the Maine woods meant that mosquitos were everywhere outside, but, that was expected. We spent most of our time in Acadia National Park by the ocean, so, it wasn’t a problem.
Beautiful chalet with view of the woods. Privacy, birds, trees. Near Schoodic Peninsula. Relaxing, clean and comfortable. We loved it and will be back.
What we loved - the interior of the house was clean, plenty of linens, spacious enough for 4 adults and two teens, appliances all worked well, individual cooling systems for different rooms allowed people to set rooms to their comfort levels, beds were comfortable, the kitchen was stocked with all of the equipment we needed and it was back off the road making for a quiet setting but close enough to make getting around easy. Loved being on this side of the park and Schoodic Point at sunset was my favorite part of the trip along with the close trail at Taft Preserve that I drove to so I could walk the dogs. What could use some help - the bright afternoon sunlight through the large windows in the living space (not sure how the owner would get around that though due to the size of windows and shape and it was only an issue on an afternoon or two when we weee home) and the early morning light through windows with sheer curtains or no coverings in the bedrooms. Bring your masks to sleep or pickup some souvenirs ones in Bar Harbor - worked like a charm for my teens. There was also a vast amount of bugs including mosquitos that made it impossible to enjoy the deck or walk the dogs on the property. The pictures online did not show the overgrown vegetation outside the basement slider or around the property (I think they may have been taken when it was new). I would not recommend this property during seasons when the bugs are bad if you have pets or if you plan on sitting outside with a book or playing outdoor games. The grill was also small and needed a good cleaning. When cooking for 6 people we had to cook in shifts which worked out ok, but due to the bug situation we only used it twice. Overall I would stay here again, but not during the part of the season when bugs are bad, especially mosquitos.
