Georgetown, Colorado
Our “Georgetown Spot” vacation rental is a 2 bedroom, 2 bath chalet-style duplex with office and garage. It has an open floor plan with vaulted knotty pine ceilings and numerous custom copper touches and original artwork. The main living area features a sun-drenched, south facing wall of windows that looks out at the Clear Creek and the entrances to Guanella Pass and Loveland Pass. An old mine and the Clear Creek are visible out the west facing wall of windows at the bottom of the stairs that lead to the balcony level. There is swivel wall-mounted 65" smart TV next to the gas fireplace. Both can be enjoyed from comfortable leather furniture. The TV is visible from anywhere on the lower level and balcony. There is also a granite counter bar with swivel stools. The beautiful, fully equipped granite and stainless kitchen has a walk-in pantry. The dining area has a pine table and four leather cushioned chairs.
A beautiful master bedroom with ample closet space and bathroom with tub/shower complete the main level. The bedroom is furnished with a huge, oak, queen sized bed and armoire and is high-lighted with a gigantic Tibetan hand-carved wall panel. The ceiling is vaulted. This bedroom is located on the opposite end of the unit away from the open balcony suite and is quite cozy and private.
The balcony of our Georgetown Spot features a custom copper pipe and beveled glass paneled handrail and copper stair banister. It has a balcony suite with a queen-size canopy bed and bedside refrigerator. There is an antique dresser and large closet plus a sitting area with two comfortable chairs. Relax and read a book or gaze out at the beautiful Georgetown scenery. The glass slider lets you out onto the private, exterior, second floor deck for an even better look at the Clear Creek and the surrounding mountains.
A small office is located off of the balcony hallway. It has its own skylight in the vaulted ceiling and a door for privacy.
The chalet has been recently renovated inside and outside. All reviews are for before the renovations occurred. It is ideal for one or two couples or a small family (although we have had quite a few single individuals have stayed here). A washer and dryer under the stairs to the balcony makes longer stays a breeze. Step out onto any of the three lower level decks - grill on the back deck or watch the Clear Creek flow past on the other two. The creekside deck has bar stools and a granite bar/railing. The creekside side yard shown in the photos is elevated above the road and creek providing a wonderful place to hang out under a mighty fur tree.
The Georgetown Spot was built in 1973 by speculative investors looking to cash in on Colorado’s 1976 Winter Olympic bid. However, the Olympics were not awarded to Colorado. The project, which included all of the duplexes along the Clear Creek on Clear Creek Drive, went bust. Eventually the structures were made available to the public and sold off.
Parking is easy right next to the entrance or in the garage. There is a ski rack and sitting area in the garage that looks out at the creek through a huge picture window. Minimum stay is 30 days. Rent the Georgetown Spot for the ski season and live the dream!

Summit County
While we love living in Georgetown, we often head to Summit County for action. Besides the 4 major ski resorts, magnificent golf and fishing the Blue River, Lake Dillon and the myriad of restaurants never disappoint. Just 20 minutes west on I-70 through the Eisenhower tunnel
had everything i needed in this classic yet modernized chalet
Had great stay at Toms place in Georgetown. Has everything you'd need for an extended stay and the owners are always available to answer a question or address a concern. The river right out front is a nice feature. Some locals even showed me how to spot and pull trout out with just a stick and a lure. The village is charming and the train ride is a relaxing 80 minute trip through the old mountain tracks. Two thumbs up!.
The chalet was set up comfortably, clean, kitchen well-stocked. Ideal for those who like to fish. When we drove up to the duplex, we immediately noticed the exterior needed some TLC (nothing major) but the inside is in good condition. The interior was comfortable, pleasing, and clean. You may notice some car noise from the freeway but it’s not overwhelming. The night sky was beautiful. There are many hummingbirds in this area. There is nice hiking very close by-consider giving yourself at least 24 hours to acclimate to the altitude before attempting any moderate (or greater) hiking. I saw a seasoned hiker with altitude sickness at the peak of Guanella Pass. The chalet has a nice path along the river that takes you to restaurants, Georgetown market etc. it’s an easy walk to the main area of town. The town is known for its Victorian homes. Some are nicely restored. Shopping in the main part of town was fun (summer). There were cute shops and it’s a nice way to spend 2-3 hours. We didn’t try the loop railroad but it did look fun. We found the visit to be relaxing and fun.
This place had one of the best floor plans for our family we have experienced in a VRBO home. The climate certainly justifies no air conditioning, however, more ceiling fans would be a great help when afternoon sunshine leaves the air pretty warm and stuffy. Opening windows helps a lot, but fans in the bedrooms would have helped improve air movement. Overall, it was a great place for our family to stay while exploring the area.
We stayed at the Georgetown Spot for a week and do not have enough positive things to say. Everything in the house was as described. We spent days just taking in the views, meandering around Georgetown, or exploring other nearby sites. With this house and location, you can make your trip whatever you want it to be. Wonderful and we will be back.
The unit was spacious and well-equipped. Access was easy off of I-70 in Georgetown. Access went smoothly, and the stay went without a hitch. Two things would improve the experience: 1. Firmer mattress in the master bedroom. My wife couldn't sleep as she sunk into the bed. 2. First level bathroom lock needs a little bit of lock-eze to allow users to exit without a struggle. Otherwise, the stay was pleasant.
We loved our stay at the chalet. Beautifully decorated place with beautiful views, walking distance to charming historic Georgetown and close to so many Colorado attractions. Kitchen had everything we needed including a crock pot! There was plenty of room for everyone to spread out and yet it was cozy and comfortable to gather as a family. We will definitely stay here again!
This space is great! When we weren't out exploring, our two small children loved playing in large open living area and the front deck. Everything was very clean and the kitchen comes fully stocked with all the pots and pans you need to make some homemade meals. It is under a 10 minute walk to the Georgetown Market which has a great selection of for being relatively small store, and about a 20 minute walk from the historic downtown which has some great restaurants and cute shops. This couldn't be better suited for a family getaway!
The rental was as described. Had everything we needed. Interior extensively updated recently. Very comfortable for our two week stay for two adults and two adult children. Dog friendly with a fenced in yard and poop scoop included. Very attentive owner. The dishwasher died and was replaced within a day. Lower altitude of Georgetown was a plus. Very laid back historic Mountain town away from the busyness and traffic of Silverthorne / Dillon. Convenient enough to the ski areas. Will be staying there again next year.
We had a wonderful time in this small town. The house was Perfect and the scenery was awesome.
