The space
The Castle at Lake Livingston Village was inspired by the German Medieval-Gothic castles of the old world. Built to provide our family, friends and guests a relaxing experience, in a wooded camping setting, where memories are made enjoying the gentle outdoor surroundings with access to Lake Livingston, where you, your family and fiends can boat, fish, swim and enjoy the amenities of the area.

The Castle has an upstairs bedroom loft and open seating area with over 420 square feet of living space. The area boasts an antique, Medieval-Gothic styled canopy king size bed, separate King and Queen old world throne chairs and two chaise lounges fit with lyon heads and paws made to serve the pleasure of the Royal Highnesses. A knight in armor keeps a watchful eye over the King and Queens quarters. There is a wood burning stove (not for use) in place to accent the room, providing and quiet and majestic ambiance to relax, read a book or visit with family and friends.

With access to the entire castle property, you also have access The Castle Guesthouse, which was designed to replicate a German-Style Guesthouse that would have been found in the old ages in the town village. It is approximately 325 square feet & includes a small basic kitchenette (no stove or oven), hot plates, refrigerator, breakfast nook, shower, toilet & second floor Studio Loft with double and twin beds, accommodating 3 people.

Outside you have access to a charcoal grill, a wood smoker, fire pit, outdoor seating, picnic table in a camping atmosphere. If you seek a simple get away with basic amenities to enjoy the outdoors, the wooded forest and have private access to Lake Livingston you have found the right oasis!
Guest access
You will have access to the entire 4 lot grounds at the property, the Castle Guesthouse and, of course, the majestic Castle.
Other things to note
The Bedroom Loft is accessible from the outside staircase leading the balcony of the Castle overlooking the property.

The Studio Loft in The Castle Guest House is accessible by a fixed ladder and requires climbing the ladder to get upstairs.

There is no Bathroom or Kitchen in the castle dwelling. You have to go to the guesthouse for bathroom and kitchenette access.

The Castle at Lake Livingston is meant to be a getaway in a rustic almost “rough it” setting where you can unplug, skip the TV and enjoy the lake and outdoors.

If you have questions or concerns, please message host before booking.

We really enjoyed the outside part of this place. The inside left much to be desired. The most “castle like” bed was up a spiral staircase and no restroom. All of the beds were in a place that made it difficult to get to unless you were a small child like my nephew. We had to sleep on the 2 pullout couches in case someone needed to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night because it felt too dangerous to descend at night. There was a bandaid practically glued to one of the blankets we planned to use and the couch mattresses were quite dirty. I understand the location and the “old castle” vibe but it really could use more thorough and deep cleans and new mattresses. Another thing that was a bit too much was that we had someone come to the door at 9:30 at night and knock as we were all in bed and it did scare us quite a bit. It was the host that wanted to give a beanie baby to my nephew because we were staying for his birthday, but 9:30 PM is late for a 4 year old and it was very unexpected and a little scary. While we saw flaws, my nephew did have An amazing time with the theme of the castle. He even had his knights cape and inflatable sword and shield. We roughed it out for him, but it truly does need better upkeep.

This was by far one of our most unique and fun stay! We’re a family of 5, kids ages 8, 10, 13. I read the reviews and there seemed to be a lot of complaints about the roads in the “neighborhood”. It’s unpaved but you definitely don’t need a 4x4 to get through. Trust me the local Dodge Charger had no issues flying around us. The pictures didn’t clarify if there was an oven/stove. I’m here to tell you there is a full size electric stove/oven in the castle. The German style guest house does not have one. There are pots and pans and I had no issues making omelets for breakfast or chili for dinner. Unfortunately during our stay the town was under a burn ban so no fire pit dinners for us. Thankfully my husband packed a small camping blackstone that he set up on the bar behind the castle. Thank goodness it’s covered because after we unloaded the car a cold front blew in freezing rain. There’s a big screen in the castle bedroom. We logged into our movie app and piled the kids into the king size bed for a movie night each night. One of my most favorite memories of the trip! I was worried about my boys staying solo in the guest house. So the first night we all stayed in the castle bedroom. Piled on the chaise lounges and sleeping bags on the floor. By the next day they were brave enough to stay alone. If you love camping this is a great find! Highly recommend.

Fun stay, unique no frills property. Nice new deck to sit and enjoy morning coffee. Cute, clean guesthouse, comfortable king bed in main house. Wi-Fi spotty at times, full size mirror would be nice. Overall nice time.

The spiral staircase and full kitchen in the main house was unexpected! Along with full bathrooms in both the main house and the guest house. Temperature could be acclimated to be comfortable. It was crazy wonderful! It was like an adult adventure - we highly recommend it! . This is fantastic for a family or friend get-away.

I really wanted to like this place but boy did it leave a lot to be desired. Please note that you cannot access the bedrooms without taking stairs/ladders - and the stairs are kind of dangerous. I should have paid more attention to the other reviews mentioning this. The outside looks like the pictures but the inside is poorly made, dusty and dirty. It is also very dark in there (which I guess is part of the ambience) - I wouldn’t mind if it wasn’t that one of the lamps had no bulb and the light up candles remote had no batteries - we couldn’t make the place brighter even if we wanted to. The bathroom has no sink nor mirror. The sink is located by the kitchen and it was dirty. Want a cup of coffee? The hosts didn’t clean up the previous tenants’ pods. Ew.They ask you to strip the beds before leaving - in doing that you would notice how absolutely filthy the mattress is. The place smells musty and the doors, whilst looking cool and very castle-like, are extremely unsafe. The locks aren’t very sturdy and there’s gaps between the door and the floor and wall, so if you hate mosquitos this place would be your nightmare.WiFi? Unreliable. It’s a pity that they require a two night stay minimum. This place is cool for pictures to take on a quick daily stay but if you actually want somewhere to feel safe, comfortable and clean it missed the mark by a mile. Again, I wish I could give this place 5 stars. Unfortunately there were too many things wrong with it.

The place is as fun as a place could be for an 8 year old with plenty of extras like Dragon Toss games.

this place reminded me of some places that I stayed many years ago. The owner went out of his to fix the heater. He drove two houts away to accomplish this task. We were very impressed and will be back in tye future

Stayed at this property during winter break. The “Castle” did have an electric stove oven, plus full fridge, plus a full bathroom. But it is rather old just like an old “castle” if that’s what you are looking for. The guest house has simple sink, full fridge, and full bath, but climbing to loft required physical fit. Neighborhood was a bit unsafe and may get flooded or with mosquitoes, be aware.

Was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. There are steep stairs so if you have really young children or bad knees it might not be the best option for you. My kids loved it and thought it was the coolest experience. The castle itself does have a bathroom with shower, a full size refrigerator, and a full size stove/oven which was not on the listing. The guest house also has a bathroom and kitchenette but no stove/oven in it. Host had everything needed in the kitchen, pots pans utensils etc…and was very responsive. Would definitely recommend staying here.
