Unionville, Virginia
Nestled in the scenic rolling hills of central Virginia, Camp Shangrila on the Rocky Run creek will not disappoint. The campsite is situated on a beautiful flowing creek. The creek bed is a mix between sand and smaller river stones. Across the creek, you can explore the 200+ acre cattle and horse farm belonging to the Altman family for several generations. The area is graced with an abundance of wildlife, including deer, wild turkeys, fox and the occasional black bear.
It’s very cold at night, and electricity is broken. No shower room, and no rest room. The host showed their shower place, but it’s just outside with net sheets and water for shower is muddy and dirty. The toilet(?) also has only nets and even no water. Kitchen utensils are very old like from 70’s. The grill is dirty but ok to use with foil. And beds are not bad but very cold at night because the stove last only one hour with full firewoods. The tent was fully covered with mould. The host is kind but didn’t help inconvenience from lackage. If the price is 1/3, it can be worth to experience. But around 100$ are too much overcharged.
Love the location! Beautiful views!
If you are looking for a peaceful place to unwind away from your everyday grind this is it! Our host was amazing, you have everything you need to camp! We stayed with our 2yr old German Shepherd and she loved it too. Set behind a beautiful pasture with a campfire couldn't be better. Thanks for a great time.
