Gardiner, Montana
We are located on the banks of the Yellowstone River, 10 miles north of Gardiner, Montana--the oldest entrance to Yellowstone Park.
Our lodge is 4300 square feet, with seven bedrooms, three full bathrooms, a large dining room, full kitchen, large family room with stone fireplace downstairs and a large living room with stone fireplace upstairs. There are two decks, one overlooking the Yellowstone River and beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. We have a very large lawn with shade trees also. It is a good place to relax after a busy day of activities.
It is a beautiful and convenient location for visiting Yellowstone Park and the surrounding area. The Park is only 10 minutes away. In addition to seeing Yellowstone, there are many other activities to do and see in the area, such as: horseback riding, hiking, fishing, river rafting, snowmobiling, cross country skiing and hunting. All of these activities are available in the nearby upper Yellowstone Valley. This area is a beautiful place to visit any time of the year.
Winters in the Gardiner area are usually pretty mild. The road through the northern part of Yellowstone to Cooke City is open year-round. This most scenic part of the Park offers unlimited wildlife viewing, particularly of elk, bison and the famous Yellowstone wolves. There is snowmobiling and cross-country skiing in the mountains above Gardiner, Cooke City and in the Park. Downhill skiing is also available nearby at Bridger Bowl and Big Sky. We recently installed a new propane furnace for comfortable wintertime stays .
We built the lodge ourselves with hand-hewn logs, cut and pulled out with our team of Clydesdale horses from the mountains within site of here. The stones for the fireplaces were picked from nearby fields.
The lodge is also available during hunting season. The trail heads in the vicinity offer good elk hunting on the National Forests of the Gardiner area.

We generally have no trouble rescheduling the summer months unless you cancel a week or 2 prior to your stay. We will also give a refund If Yellowstone Park is closed for any reason, during your reservation dates. We highly recommend guests getting trip insurance as precaution for the possibility of a natural disaster, such as the unprecedented flooding we had this year. We are also willing to transfer your deposit to a date within the next year, if you had to cancel for some reason.

Perfect Location
This was an incredible property for our large youth group. Dru Anne was extremely welcoming and had so many options to make our stay more positive. From the well- stocked kitchen to the plethora of towels to the rollaway beds and mats. This gave us the option we needed to have a very comfortable stay on the beautiful Yellowstone river. Incredible opportunity for all of us!
This was the ideal place for our extended family to hang out while we visited Yellowstone. There were plenty of rooms, a well stocked kitchen and chairs set up looking over the river. Great vacation stay.
The house was in the perfect location for our visit to Yellowstone and the surrounding Gardiner area. Our group of 11 sadly turned into a group of eight and there was plenty of room to gather as a group yet still have privacy when needed. This would have been the case even if all 11 would have made the trip. Dru being the perfect hostess was the cherry on top. We would definitely recommend staying here if you get the chance.
The house was great except the screens were broken or missing. Because it was hot, we had to open the windows which allowed hoards of bugs in. The screens need to be fixed and the fans cleaned. Then the house would be perfect.
Great cabin and location. Owner very helpful and accessible. Right on the Yellowstone River
Perfect
We had my husbands cousins and their adult children stay here while visiting us. The time flew by and they wished there stay had been longer. Communication with owners was easy and they were so accommodating! Beautiful spot for our large group!
It was a very nice time.
The location was amazing and size of the house was perfect for my family. The house does need some deep cleaning and maintenance. Cobwebs in multiple places, window screens missing or broken which without AC makes it difficult to keep windows open due to flies. Outdoor fridge is missing a seal on the door making it hard to keep things cold and fridge is constantly running to keep up. Otherwise the home has great potential.
We had a really nice vacation to Montana. The lodge is in an excellent location! We also really enjoyed the outdoor space overlooking the Yellowstone River. The lodge has a really nice layout for a large group. Beds we’re comfortable and there were lots of common spaces for us to gather. We had 11 people and there was still room for many more! Upon arrival, we did have to clean the whole kitchen space and wash lots of dishes before using. If I’m being honest, the lodge needs a very good cleaning overall and some routine maintenance. Also, some in our party were missing A/C (Lots of fans were provided) and we were surprised by the self-trash removal. We didn’t remember seeing that in the description. We may have missed it. Thank you for a fun family vacation! Montana is absolutely stunning!!!!
The lodge was perfect for our multi-generational party of 13. Plenty of sleeping rooms for everyone, and the kids enjoyed playing games in the wide open space out front. We enjoyed sitting outside and having meals by the river. It was a convenient 10 minute drive to the North Entrance to YNP and to downtown Gardiner which has a grocery store, restaurants and shops. No cellphone coverage but there is good wifi in the property. The lodge itself is pretty rustic and could use a deep cleaning. Some items (shampoo, laundry soap) were missing so we had to make some unexpected trips to the store. Otherwise everything was great! The owner was very communicative and accommodating. You can tell from the little touches in each room that the owners do their best to make it a great experience for their guests. Thank you DruAnn for a wonderful stay!
great property with plenty of room to gather yet room to be alone if desired; plenty of utensils in kitchen for large group; beddings ample and cozy;
Beautiful property and excellent accommodations!! See you next year!!
Had a great time and loved hearing the elk at night.
Although we were unfortunately limited to organized tours for YNP due to closure of the North Entrance, the Yellowstone River lodge was a perfect setting for our family reunion. Beautiful river-side setting, close to Gardiner & YNP, impressive log construction, and plenty of bedrooms and group spaces to allow privacy and not feel crowded. Although three conditions (1.Cleaning prior to our arrival could have been better; 2. Kitchen is in need of up-date or at least some TLC; 3. June flood and subsequent bank erosion have made river access extremely challenging), the beauty, convenience and physical layout of the lodge far outweighed any negative concerns. Our family group of 13 people had a truly great time, creating memories that will be looked upon fondly for years to come.
Rented this house for a wedding. Check-in process was easy and house had everything we needed. Views from the house were beautiful. Would stay again.
Excellent Place to stay. Even though we didn’t get to go into the National park every day this was still a great place. Seen different wildlife while we there and just great scenery. Would recommend if you’re staying here with a large group to consider bringing extra wash cloths and towels. Even without ac we were able to open windows and turn on fans and it was pleasant. Host was great!
Beautiful setting next to River and Outdoor covered picnic area; very nice. Very spacious and rustic decorated with animals and antlers; just our style.
Great space for large group.
The property was very clean and had everything we needed. It was just a little over 10 miles to Yellowstone National Park so was very convenient to get to. The views from the front porch and side deck were beautiful.
We had a great time, the cabin was great for our family of twelve, would definitely come back and recommend
