Property was as described and clean. Stocked with cookware, utensils, etc. The view of the creek was so picturesque and we enjoyed a bonfire outside even if it was 30 degrees! Inside wood burning fireplace and outside fire pit were amazing! House is easily accessible from main roads. Several grocery stores within 15 minutes. The boys fished everyday and caught small trout. We enjoyed hikes in Highlands, NC and very close Mud Creek Falls. We made a day trip out of Tallulah Gorge State Park and Helen, GA. Good access to so many outdoor activities. Would recommend to 1-2 families as there is plenty of room.
We brought our “city kids” and suburban living elderly parents here for Thanksgiving and we all had a great time! The place was clean, the kitchen was well stocked with cooking equipment (first rental I have stayed where the knives were sharp and can chop all the veggies and meats!!), and the surrounding area was beautiful! Communication with the owner was easy and responsive! The location is a convenient drive from the Atlanta area which is great. But still close to the national forests for nature, hikes, and fire pit s’mores. We are from the Chicago area and found the temperature in the house to be fine and cozy. Having the outdoor fire pit near the creek was a pleasant way to while away the evenings with family!
When I think of North Carolina, this is it! Beautiful home and beautiful creek with trees all around. Access is also easy, with good roads and mountain valley views along the way. Awesome!
North Carolina is often a destination for our family. Our stay was made even more special at this creekside cabin. Our family was able to play in the creek, fish, kayak, make s'mores, grill out and enjoy nature in a tucked away retreat that offered privacy. It was quiet and peaceful. Our vacation was hard to leave thanks to this little piece of heaven. Thank you Scott for being a wonderful host and trusting us with your special spot which will forever be one of ours. Memories made!!!! Mark, Jodi, Owen and Ollie
We had the most magical time at this tranquil mountain house. A comfortable walk for all ages down to the river. Kids enjoy the short and safe kayak downstream while we can relax and stare at the beauty from the massive porch with rocking chairs. We really enjoyed all the quality time together playing games, cooking dinners and having firepit evenings while kids catch fireflies. The stars are incredible here late night. Scott is incredibly helpful and informative about the area, history of this home and things to do nearby. We will definitely make this a return trip!
Very nice house , very clean and had everything we needed. The owner Scott was very nice and accommodating also. The heat was on when we arrived which made the house very nice and warm. My grandsons loved the creek and having a campfire at night while roasting marshmallows. Lots of family memories made. Will definitely be back.
We had a blast visiting this property! It was a perfect family getaway. Our kids had a blast playing in the creek, and amazing hiking was just a short drive away!
So wonderful to be able to play with our Australian grandkids for the first time in 3 years! (Thanks, COVID!) We last visited in person in 2019, and they are now 7 and 9 and naturally sooo much bigger.... As we stayed in the cabin over July 4th weekend, the girls learned about why we Americans celebrate on that day --and had a great time watching the parade in Franklin, eating all the special junk food there, and later the sparklers and bottle rockets and cookout by the fire pit back at home. Of course, the main attraction was the creek and kayaks. And the chess board. Hard to get them away from chess to go in the creek, then hard to get them out of the creek for dinner.... There was a lot of reading going on, and some interesting geography lessons and discussions thanks to the world map and globe in the dining room. What a great idea! Monopoly and Clue practically took over the living room. Best of all (for me, Grandma) was NO TV was ever turned on!! We did manage to get away a couple of days for other adventures: the waterfall loop and lunch in Highlands, rafting on the Nantahala (reprise of 1986 trip with our then 9-year-old daughter --still great!) and a couple of trail hikes. Son-in-law got away for a day of fly fishing instruction and quiet time. All-in-all this stay was a great solution for everyone to get together finally. Weather was perfect (warm days, cool evenings, some rain at night, beautiful foggy mornings to have coffee on the deck.)
This house was in a great location. Day trips to Highlands, Sylva, Dillsboro, Franklin, Cherokee were all easy to access and be back before dark. The house had a beautiful view from the porches. The creek flows right through the yard. You are in the country and it is quiet, and serene. We enjoyed fishing , painting, or just watching the water go by. There are short and beautiful hikes nearby. Plus lots of breweries and places to eat. The house had all that we needed. Scott was very helpful. It is his family home and you can tell he loves this special place.
Property was as stated. Convenient to everything. Enjoyed seeing lots of deer. The most comfortable bed ever! The stream was great! Need to return in the summer so I can really play in the water. Thanks for a great vacation
