Fairbanks, Alaska
This warm and cozy log home features Alaskan art work, detailed hemp rope work, and a gas stove to enhance the ambience. It is within walking distance to the International Ice Carving Championships, Creamer's Field (a popular aurora viewing spot and migratory wildlife refuge and trail system), and the Tanana Valley Fairgrounds. It is also a short block to the bus stop, a mile from the railroad, and 6 miles to the airport.
Two huge picture windows face north, and lucky winter guests may watch the aurora from the comfort of the living room. This log home is located in a quiet neighborhood. It has two bedrooms with queen-size beds. The kitchen is well-stocked with baking and cooking utensils and has plenty of counter space to prepare meals. Coffee, tea, seasonings, and many other basic kitchen staples are in stock.
There is a counter style bar that seats two and the nearby dining table that seats six. The living area is graced with a gas fireplace that you can view the flames from all three sides. Though the bathroom is small, it boasts a huge Jacuzzi tub for two. There is a deck in the back yard with a gas grill and outdoor seating.
Great location and as advertised! Would stay again!
This was a wonderful place to stay for our 5 day/4 night trip to Fairbanks. We were visiting for work-related activities and had full wifi access, great restaurant recommendations, and a cozy and friendly place to relax. The owner is lovely and has many great suggestions for visitors. I will definitely return!
Kathy greeted us and made sure any questions we had were answered and gave us great suggestions for local activities
Loved this cabin. It was so cozy and homey. Kathy keeps the decor beautiful.
I would recommend this cabin to everyone! It was absolutely perfect. The owner was especially welcoming. She has compiled lists of activities, and excellent restaurants. We were so comfortable staying there for a week. Thank you!
Adorable cabin. Very clean. Well stocked kitchen. Only appliance that wasn't there that would have been nice was a toaster oven. Property owner very responsive
This was a SUPER place to stay and Kathy our host was the best. She gave us great advice on where to go. From site seeing to eating choices. Kathy was an integral piece that made our vacation wonderful. She answered everyone of our many questions and gave great suggestions. We could not be more pleased. We will be back for sure.
Went to school at UAF 45 years ago. I have stayed at rentals all over the world and this one is the first to feel like home- dark and quiet, clean(immaculate),warm and very well-maintained. A joy just to sit here and relax. The neighborhood feels like a university student ghetto with a lot of military personnel too, but this is not meant as a detraction. Walkable and safe, with easy auto access to major highways. Fairbanks is a lot smaller than I remembered. This owner provided everything one could want in a vacation cabin, with all the frills. The jacuzzi was especially nice. My wife and I agreed that this is the very first time in our 30+ years of marriage that we are returning home incredibly relaxed and sad, no very sad, to leave.
This little cabin in Fairbanks could not be better! The place was spotless, extremely well decorated and provisioned, and fulfilled all our expectations. The owner was extremely responsive and clear in all communications. We would definitely stay here again when next we are in Fairbanks.
Kathy is a great host and her rental exceeded all expectations! It was extremely well equipped with anything we could possibly need and the outdoor space was immaculate. If I could give more than 5 stars for communication I would. She offered tons of helpful advice beforehand that assisted in planning out getaway. Highly recommend and would return if our fortunes allowed.
Cabin was great and had anything you want/need. Kitchen well stocked and even had milk, eggs and cereal already. Washer and dryer a nice bonus. Kathy was always available and great host. Close to things we wanted to do - museums, riverboat, restaurants were all within 10-20 minutes. Quiet neighborhood and friendly neighbors. Highly recommend.
What a great cabin. The location could not have been more convenient. The experience was 1000 times better than a hotel
Super comfortable! Had everything we needed to enjoy the soccer state cup just down the road a bit.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Lead Dog Cabin! It had everything we needed and it was a perfect home base to return to after our adventurous outings around Fairbanks. I highly recommend and would definitely stay here again on our next trip north.
This property is amazing!! Great communication with Kathy!! We will be back!
We loved our stay here. The cabin was perfect for what we wanted and is very cozy. It has everything you’d need for your stay. We were visiting Fairbanks and it was in a great location, because we were pretty close to most everything. Kathy is a great hostess, and I’d definitely recommend staying at this cabin if you’re looking to visit Fairbanks.
The best stay, wonderful owner.
Very cozy, comfortable and clean! I would stay there again in a heartbeat.
I never leave reviews but this surpassed all expectations. Not only a beautiful cozy cabin experience but the host goes above and beyond. We stayed in late April but there was still 4 feet of snow outside and still snowing for days. The host had the long driveway freshly plowed and offered to maintain it for our several day stay. She's a wonderful communicator, her advice helped us on multiple occasions and she provides tips only the locals know. Everything was spotless and so well stocked to feel like home. The fireplace was lovely, beds were so soft they felt like heaven, and the Jacuzzi tub was such a treat. Probably the easiest instructions ever to check in and out at guests convenience. We were amazed we actually saw the Aurora when everyone said we needed to go further from the city, but we admired them from every window of this house. So close to everything in town, but still felt like a vacation get away. I'm sure I'm forgetting more, but i really have nothing bad to say. It was spectacular and the only con was that we had to eventually leave. I would absolutely stay here again.
Beautiful cozy cabin, we watched the aurora from the living room windows. The kitchen is stocked with everything could possibly need. Kathy is a great resource for all the best things to do in Fairbanks. Can't wait to come back in the future!
