Redwoods Cabin is a Lakewood Lux property. Check us out on our website or on social media!
Built by hand in the 1930s, Redwood is an authentic rustic property with old-times vibe. With modern amenities and upgrades, Redwood is the perfect getaway that provides a unique cabin experience with all of the expected comforts of home. A large screened porch is the ultimate place to spend time and embrace the location, nestled within mature trees on a large, private lot. Redwood is a quick drive to downtown Saugatuck/Douglas and a short walk to the lake bluff or Douglas public beach.
Note: You may notice reviews mentioning a plumbing issue Fall 2023 in which we housed our guests in the property next door. This issue has been fully resolved with a new septic tank as of October 2023. We look forward to hosting you at Redwoods Cabin in 2024!
Although the cottage we rented was not available due to a plumbing issue, the owner of this rental honored our booking and provided an alternative and upgraded (larger with more space, rooms, and bathrooms) homestay that was adjacent to the cottage. Both the cottage and next-door home are located a block and a half from the lake (and Douglas Beach Park which is excellent for sunset viewing) and one of my favorite areas to stay in the Saugatuck/Douglas area. Expect a quiet wooded street in an area that is great for walking—either along the panoramic views of nearby Lakeshore Dr. or the Beach to Bayou trail which can take you right to Woosah coffee or the Root Beer Barrel. Plus, also an expect immaculately clean space and a very responsive owner! Thank you for a wonderful, relaxing (and spacious) weekend stay!
This was our second time staying at this cabin. It was a perfect weekend getaway for our family. Very close to Douglas beach and downtown Douglas. Short drive to Saugatuck and other area locations. The screened in porch is wonderful and relaxing. Beds are very comfortable. The only thing that might have been nice to have is a few more kitchen basics, such as salt and pepper, to make cooking at the cabin easier.
We didn’t stay at the property listed as there was an issue with the plumbing however the host was kind enough to let us stay at her other home around the corner. We greatly appreciate her kindness since it was Labor Day weekend and finding another rental last minute would’ve been a challenge! The area is gorgeous and the beach is less than a 10 min walk away. Downtown Douglas and Saugatuck are a very short drive from the property as well so lots to do in the area! Hopefully we can come back and stay in the home listed, it looked adorable from the outside and had a great yard as well. Host was amazing and went above and beyond. Thank you again Erica!
This place was just what we needed for a low key family getaway. We did some hiking, boating, exploring Saugatuck, and a beach day and never had to drive more than 15 minutes to get where we wanted to go. At the end of the day it was nice to come back, put our baby to bed, and have a drink while listening to Lake Michigan from the screen porch. The cabin was very clean and had basic amenities provided (toiletries, dishes, pots/pans). There were some weird quirks, like the door to the second bedroom didn't shut completely from the outside and it was right next to the bathroom, so we did end up waking the baby once or twice when we flushed the toilet. The host was extremely responsive and resolved issues quickly.
This is the most charming, sweet spacious little cabin. Quiet and cozy. Super clean. Huge screened in porch with sitting area and table. Beds very comfy A doe and two fawn frequented the yard. Cannot wait to come back!!
Great location on wooded lot in quiet residential neighborhood. A short walk to a lovely beach where Lake Michigan shows its beauty. Spacious large screened in porch for coffee in the morning and enjoying the end of the day facing the sunset towards the lake. Clean and comfortable with nice linens. Erica made sure I was perfectly happy throughout my stay. I’ll definitely be returning!
The property is in a quiet neighborhood with the privacy and vibe of staying at a cabin in the woods and conveniences of being centrally located to Saugatuck, Douglas and Fennville. I stayed here in July 2023 with my husband and 6 year-old daughter and it was the perfect size for us three and could comfortably fit a couple or family of four. The location is ideal, no more than 10 minutes from any place we wanted to go or explore in any direction. The beach entrance is right around the corner. The cabin is equipped with modern comforts - there are plenty of outlets in every room for charging devices, good wifi signal, video streaming, bright lights in every room and hooks all over for added storage. The water pressure is strong and the hot water comes on quickly and the AC works well. And, there are plenty of extra towels. The cabin is very clean and well maintained. A couple of tips: The beach by the cabin, Douglas Beach, has some extremely rocky sections where the waves meet the shoreline. I strongly recommend wearing water shoes to ease getting in and out. Second - the cabin itself has a basic set of kitchen tools - pots, pans, and utensils, but if you cook in the cabin, remember to bring your own salt/pepper and seasonings, and a stainless steel scrubber to clean the pans.
Our stay at Erica’s cabin was just lovely. Very clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. Super close walk to Douglas Beach and Rootbeer Barrel. Beautiful walks along Lake Shore Drive. Thank you, Erica! We won’t hesitate to return!
A wonderful cabin. Very clean, a 5 minute walk to the beach, responsive owner, and a great screened in porch. We watched deer from the porch nearly every day. Highly recommend.
This cabin was perfect for what we needed! It was cozy and clean. The kitchen had everything we needed to make simple meals. The screened in porch is huge and the yard was perfect for the kids to play in. Douglas beach is a quick 5 minute walk (less than 1/2 mile). We would definitely stay here again.
My family and I absolutely loved this property!! Very clean, and cozy. The beach access was a very short walk, and the sunsets are a must! I will definitely recommend this property to my friends, and family. Thank you Erica!
This was a cozy place to stay with a nice screened in back room with a 3 to.4 minute walk to a small beach. It had everything we needed to cook meals and four recliners so we could all.put our feet up in the evenings. It is a quiet neighborhood where we took morning and evening walks. Very comfortable! We enjoyed being a few minutes from downtown Douglas's art galleries and downtown Sagatauck's art galleries and restaurants. Also from great hotdogs at tue Douglas Rootbeer Barrel! This is a great location to use as home base while exploring many areas!
10 / 10 very comfortable, clean and enjoyable.
Lovely, rustic place close to Douglas beach! Our family enjoyed relaxing on the enclosed porch and the outdoor swing. Erica, the owner was super responsive to questions!
Pleasant, comfortable getaway cabin near all the attractions. Beach, food, wildlife and dunes. The cabin was clean, comfortable beds, climate well controlled inside, water pressure was excellent. Everything functioned as expected. Wildlife right outside the door. Many deer.
Cozy cabin on a beautiful property. The screened in porch is perfect for morning coffee while watching the deer, or for evening candlelit dinners. The location is ideal. A short walk to the lake allows you to view spectacular sunsets.
Perfect little cabin for a lovely weekend in Saugatauk!! It was immaculate and so comfy! Thank you Erica!
The cabin was clean, comfortable and as described. We enjoyed relaxing in the 3 seasons room between visiting the Douglas beach, the dunes and downtown Saugatuck all of which were a short walk or drive away. The air conditioners kept the cabin very comfortable and the shower was incredible. We visit every Summer and would definitely stay here again!
