Walden is always a great place to stay. On our first morning we had a coffee maker that had picked that day to stop functioning. Contacted the host and he came by very quickly with a brand new coffee maker.Beautiful view of the river for a quiet peaceful weekend!

My husband and I stayed at The Walden from November 21st to November 23rd, and it was an unforgettable experience. The home was spotless, beautifully maintained, and thoughtfully designed inside and out. The views from the property are absolutely stunning, adding to the peaceful and romantic atmosphere.We especially loved the hot tub, which is conveniently located right off the primary suite—perfect for relaxing and enjoying the scenery in total privacy. The short walk to the riverfront is another highlight. The area is set up with Adirondack chairs, a picnic table, and a grill, creating the perfect spot to unwind by the water. Although we didn’t get to use the grill this time, it’s at the top of our list for our next stay.The location is also great for exploring nearby Front Royal. Talk of the Mountain Crab Cakes served the best crab cakes—we loved it so much we went twice in two days! We also visited On the Cue Sports Bar & Grill, and you won’t be disappointed there either.Overall, we had a wonderful romantic weekend at The Walden. The host was incredibly accommodating, the property exceeded our expectations, and we truly can’t wait to book again. Highly recommend!

Great Cabin! So beautiful! It would be nice, when traveling from out of state, to have linens and bedding provided. I am new to Vrbo and didn't see the extra charge for these things. It seems like a hidden charge, although the point was made on the listing that there are not hidden charges. We still had a good experience overall.

What a wonderful cabin. Our family of four stayed here very comfortably. We made memories that will never be forgotten. There’s so much to do with the fire pit, jacuzzi and river front access. It was exactly what we wanted in order to unplug and be in nature. It’s such a beautiful spot.

The property is wonderful, and the cabin has just what you need, nothing more and nothing less. The fields and river provide a variety of outdoor activities, and Walden was an overall perfect experience for our small family of 3.

Had a wonderful stay at the Walden. Found the cabin to be neat and clean. Check in process was simple with lock box and code provided just prior to arrival. The location feels secluded although there are neighbors you can’t see them and rarely hear them. The private spot on the river is perfect for fishing, floating and wading. Can’t wait to go back.

Property was clean and well maintained. Plenty of room for the family to spread out. Walk down to the river was easy and path was mowed. Hot tub could use some maintenance, the jets did not seem to be working to full capacity, but it was clean and relaxing.

Well appointed home. Location is gorgeous, extremely private, quiet, close to the river with 2 seating areas by the water, one with a fire pit and grill. Owners quick to respond.

Walden was exactly as advertised. We loved the cozy atmosphere and creature comforts. Due to rainy weather we did not get to utilize a lot of the outdoor and riverside amenities but recognized them for being available had the weather cooperated. Derek was very responsive to any needs we had. We loved the screened porch and ate their and enjoyed drinks despite the weather. We are already planning a return visit.

The main thing I want people to know is how private this property is. It is accurately listed, comfortable bed, nice shower, kitchen was equipped with almost everything (needed a potato masher and one or two more mixing bowls would be great), and the property itself is so soothing, quiet, and relaxing. Many properties say they are private, but when you get there you realize you are facing another house or someone’s backyard or business, but this place offers ultimate privacy.

we were looking for a quiet get away, loved having our 16YO boy more interested in fishing and hiking then sitting on his Xbox! We all really loved how quiet and calm it was, definitely plan on going back

This was our second visit to Walden and, as with the first time, it did not disappoint. We were there for 3 nights and had the property all to ourselves. It was very relaxing watching the river flow by slowly and the dogs had a blast playing in the field. Deer were everywhere in the morning and at dusk. We will be back again for sure.

The property was on a beautiful valley right next to the Shenandoah river. Everything was about as perfect as it could be. Would definitely recommend.

The stay was very pleasant. Everything was very clean including the outdoor furniture! Be sure to bring your own bedding. Luray is about 15 minute drive with some shops, and a Walmart for last-minute items. Recommend and would visit again.

This cabin fulfilled all my needs. Simple, clean, and efficient. The location was secluded and quiet, just what I needed. Will definitely return!

The cabin is excellent, it is very well equipped, in addition to an excellent space for a campfire and being close to the river. Very confortable space for a relaxing vacation.

My husband and I have stayed at Walden several times and had another terrific visit. The fall leaves are beautiful addition to an already great view. Cabin is perfect private, quiet, peaceful place for us to getaway to. We've made many fantastic memories :-)

Walden was the perfect choice to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. My husband and I loved the peaceful environment, including the walk to the river and being greeted by deer each day. Hiking, Luray Caverns, and Skyline Drive were just a short drive from the cabin. There was plenty of firewood and the hot tub was clean and ready to go. This place has it all!

Nice, clean and newer cabin. Not easy to find at night. Everything is fairly new and working well. Many deer to see in the mornings and evenings. We had no issues at all.

This well-appointed cabin sits on a quiet spot right next to the Shenandoah River. We had planned to go hiking in the National Park but it was so nice at the cabin we never left except one time to get tasty tacos in Luray. We are planning a return!

This is simply a lovely cabin, very comfortable with every little detail in place to make your stay enjoyable and easy. The windows and view are peaceful. My little dog and I enjoyed the quiet and sitting on the screened in porch. The owner was very kind and helped me get set up with the new TV. We hope to return again soon!

This was a lovely place to getaway from it all for my wife and I to spend our anniversary of 8 years. When we stepped into the cabin we both agreed that everything looked better in person than what was shown in the pictures. We both love the seclusion that this cabin provided and especially enjoying nature around us as well as the hot tub in which we made regular use of. We appreciated the cookies left for us as a welcoming gift to the cabin. Enjoyed the walks to the river and just enjoyed our stay overall even on one rainy day. We look forward to coming back soon.

Instead of a 10/10 we would give a 20/10. It is more beautiful, more wide, more lovely than pictures can show. The home is clean, one level so easy to get around. Most places put in dim lights so it's hard to see when cooking etc., this has so many windows during the day you need no lights. At night they have great lighting. The area by the river is so private and park like setting. Just can't say enough about this beautiful place and the owner Derek who made things easier all the way around. Thank you.

We really enjoyed the privacy and the property met all of our expectations. Even though we didn't spend as much time at Walden as we would have liked, it was a great place to start and finish each day. We enjoyed the well stocked kitchen and the grill for preparing meals and we also enjoyed the restful evenings in the hot tub.

For Vrbo kept making me get codes to send any type of message. It would send it to my email which then would take me out of the message box. Has to have laptop and cell phone to make it work. Which I don’t always. ( I know who does). For the place it was very nice. Absolutely loved the sycamore tree down at the river. It was the most amazing tree I seen in a long time. The bark looked like an artist came in and painted silver camouflage patches on the limbs. Setting on the porch and watching the deer from a distance…taking our chairs and setting in the river laughing and having a grand time. It was a much needed relaxing weekend. Even though we don’t live far I don’t have that tree or the river and can see us coming back. Thank you.
