Healy, Alaska
Welcome!
Our cute, quiet, cozy cabin is a real Alaskan experience! Our secluded, private cabin is definitely rustic but has all the features of civilization necessary - including electricity, hot and cold running water and a full kitchen.
And, it has a recently added on ‘half bath’ with an indoor shower that has hot water as well as a bathroom sink.
But no indoor toilet.
After all, who needs it, when surrounded by all of this majestic beauty
So we invite you to take advantage of the unique opportunity to connect with nature as only a few steps toward the back of the wooded property you can use the clean, insulated Alaskan outhouse that has the added bonus of interior lighting.
We guarantee this experience is the best ‘roughing it’ around!!!
To reach the cabin you will travel a scenic, 2-mile drive down historic Stampede Road. We think you'll already be falling in love with Denali before even reaching our private drive, with plenty of parking space.
The cabin is located on a private lot (no neighbors you can see here) in a serene wooded, forest that will instantly make you feel surrounded by the Alaskan experience.
Stretch your legs while being surrounded by the quiet of nature and the birch, spruce, and aspen trees that surround this property and will show you an up close glimpse of the land surround you that we call Home.
You can take advantage of our full kitchen with fridge/freezer, range/stove, and microwave. And that’s just the start, as we also provide a variety of cookware, dishes, utensils, coffee, and other necessities (foil, cleaning products, etc.).
We want you to feel right at home the moment you step inside and spread out comfortably in our the comfy open floor plan with windows that frame the surrounding boreal forest.
Anything we can think of to make things as convenient as possible for our guests!
Featuring an upstairs bedroom with a queen bed to relax in (semi-open to the downstairs) that looks over the Northern border of Denali National Park. There is a full-size futon on the ground floor that provides additional sleeping space.
And all the towels and linens you will need are also provided!
Our rustic, no-frills cabin is definitely an Alaskan home. It has a set of stairs to the upstairs bedroom and an outhouse. No TV reception here in rural Alaska but there's a DVD player and a selection of movies to watch, including Wi-Fi and a selection of books as well as board games.
This unique, off-the-path adventure will certainly be one of the highlights of your Denali vacation.
Our cabin is a great fit for adventurous couples, families with older children or small groups of budget-minded adults. Not for party-seekers, the mobility challenged or families with young children.
We are pet friendly!
Pets accepted at NO additional fee.
Our entire home is non-smoking, if you choose to smoke or vape we kindly request you do so outside.
Our cabin has everything you’ll need as a base for your Denali vacation!
Cabin was in good shape and as advertised. Another couple chairs would be a welcome addition. Just had 2 at counter/island and the futon, which also served as a bed. Nice spot!
This was the most amazing Alaskan experience, we didn't want to leave!
Beautiful cabin the woods-- silvery birch trees out the windows, and the only sounds the calls of red-breasted nuthatches and colorful white-winged crossbills.
Very much enjoyed this property. Very private and quiet, with easy access to Denali National Park. Perfect for my hubby, son, and me. Only stayed a couple of nights, but wish we could have stayed longer!
Convenient to Denali. Good directions. Felt like an Alaskan experience! All we needed since we were spending time in the park. Would have been nice to have some regular coffee & light breakfast items.
Thank for a quiet place to rest. Brought back some childhood memories of me growing up in Homer in a cabin not much bigger than this.
We loved our stay here. The cabin was clean and well stocked. The kids had fun and we loved the location. Read about Chris Mccandles before you stay and check out the replica of his bus at the brewery down the street.
Mattress to soft and required me to do extra yoga and stretching to stay pain free from an aching back. No towel bars or hooks in bath.
The location was a quick 20 minute drive to the park entrance which was perfect. We used the basic cookware to make hot, hearty meals after a day of hiking in the park. Plenty of space for air matresses and luggage. The outhouse added an elemment of adventure!
My group had an amazing time at Basecamp. It is perfectly located within minutes of everything you need. 10 minutes grocery/gas. 20 minutes from Denali NP entrance with tons of exploring in between. I will definitely be coming back to this cabin on my next trip. Thank you to the hosts for being so easy to communicate with and making the process so effortless!
We used the Denali Basecamp for our three day visit to Denali National Park. It was a great space for the four of us. It was a surprise to walk into such a spacious cozy place because we envisioned something smaller. If I were to small build a house this is the design I would use. The kitchen had everything we needed. The bedroom upstairs was perfect, and we didn’t mind the outhouse at all - it gave us privacy if you know what I mean! I loved the print of the moose so much in the living area that we ordered one when I got home. When I make it back that way I would stay there again for sure.
We only slept in the unit, we were up in Denali for a wedding and spent most of the time with the wedding party. The cabin was nicely supplied with all the items needed. I know it said that it had a outhouse, but going out in the middle of the night was not my cup of tea.
My Dad and I stayed here on our two week trip around Alaska. Could not have asked for a more convenient and comfortable stay. Short drive to the park entrance but we enjoyed the distance from the more touristy area in the Canyon. It is a more rustic cabin but not really at the same time. The outhouse was perfectly kept and we had no issues. The photos on the listing don’t exactly show the size well the space could easily house a family I thought it was more like a tiny house but was surprised with house spacious it was. We didn’t spend a lot of time at home as the road even borders the park so we ventured out quite a bit. Overall, we enjoyed our time at the Denali Basecamp and would love to go back another time!
Very quiet, private, cozy cabin. We enjoyed our stay very much.
Excellent experience
I understand that this cabin is meant to be rustic, but it could use some work. There were no screens on the windows so we couldn't open them without letting in all the flies and mosquitos. We knew there was an outhouse and we have stayed in other cabins with outhouses, but my family wouldn't even go in this one. From the shower which was just a plastic liner screwed into the drywall to the wobbly stair railing made of pipe bolted into the floor, everything was just the bare minimum. We also ran out of water after just 1 night - and we did not take long showers. The owner was quick to respond to texts, but the property just didn't match up with the description or the reviews.
Easily accessible, great cabin experience. Met two moose along the main road to the cabin on our second evening.
We enjoyed our stay at this cabin, about 25 minutes north of Denali. The cabin had most things needed to enjoy your stay. While the shower was tiny, we appreciated that amenity!! The outhouse didn’t have a smell, but be prepared for ridiculous amounts of summer mosquitos! Overall, good stay.
We truly enjoyed staying at this little cabin in the woods! It's rustic, but comfortable. The outhouse was not an issue for us. We felt like we were camping! The kitchen was well stocked, the beds were comfortable and we appreciated the black out shades!
This is a great cabin for a family of up to 5 visiting Denali who wants a more true Alaska experience than what the corporate hotels offer nearby. The cabin is about 25 minutes from the Denali visitor center located within a forested enclave adjacent to the park boundary. A well stocked store for groceries and supplies is 8 minutes away in Healy, which is on the way back-and-forth to the park. There is a well stocked kitchen -- the best one out of 3 houses/cabins we rented on our trip -- which we found to be great for meals to keep costs down. Communication with the owner was great -- we did have some questions during our stay, and she was very responsive throughout. While there is an outhouse for a toilet (which is part of the true Alaska experience), the cabin includes hot and cold running water with shower that was great. We hope to return to Denali one day, and this will be our first choice.
