Eckerty, Indiana
Unique Cabin…. This cabin sits on 3 Acres connected to Hoosier national forest and a short walk to Patoka lake. Perfect place to go relax, fish, camp, shoot, boat and/or bird watch. Lots of wildlife include turkeys and deer.
Nice little cabin out in the middle of what seems to be nowhere but off a main highway. Kids loved it and so did we. The air conditioners did have a hard time keeping up and the stairs were VERY steep. Neither was a problem for us but just to let other be aware. Overall, loved it and hope to come back again!
Nice cabin in the woods to use as a home base to explore southern indiana.
This was the perfect getaway for us with our dogs. Kelly provides absolutely everything that you might need including bottled water! We hope to stay every July 4th weekend. It was very quiet - even the few fireworks that were going on could not be heard from inside. The only very minuscule issue we had was that because of the heat (low 90’s), it took a day and a half for the portable air conditioners to cool the downstairs to around 72-73 degrees. However, we did have perfect sleeping temperatures as it cooled down at night! Just something to be aware of, if like me, you tend to be a polar bear ?. We also loved the fact that there was a perfect swimming spot for the dogs just a 1/2 mile walk away. Thank you very much for having us!
Loved the house very much!
We really enjoyed our stay! It was an easy walk down to the lake. It was such a peaceful, quiet area. Short drive to Lake Patoka ($9 Daily fee for out of state residents) where we were able to hike and rent a pontoon boat for the day. Plenty of other things to do in the park. We took a 25 min drive to Marengo cave which was a beautiful, historic National landmark. The cabin was adorable, very comfortable and cozy. The water appeared brown and a bit smelly but the host provided plenty of bottled water to accommodate! We will be back :)
We had a wonderful stay at the cabin! It's nicely secluded and wooded, but not too far away from town. The cabin is super cute, and just the right size for me, my husband, and our small pup. We planned a weekend of hiking. It rained super hard the first day, so we weren't able to hike, but we spent the day watching movies and listening to the rain fall softly on the roof. The next day the rain let up and we were able to explore some of the great nearby hikes. There is no wifi and I had no cell service at the cabin, which was perfect, because we were able to totally disconnect and really enjoy our time there. It was so relaxing. The tap water is a little iffy for drinking (slightly brown), but they left us tons of bottled water to drink and use for cooking, so it wasn't a problem.
Great little cabin in the woods.
The cabin was clean and very “homey”. Problems were that because of our stature, the unusually high steps (not usual) to the loft bedroom we could not handle—no railing. Pots and frying pans were hung on the walls above our reach without a step stool. One towel and one hand towel in the bathroom for the two of us. TV with lots of movies to insert wasn’t working properly—unable to have the volume turned up—needed new batteries, we believe. We left after one day. Beautiful spot for young, tall folks. Big mistake for us.
My wife and I really enjoyed staying here. It was super quiet and peaceful, and the surrounding woods were pretty. Cellular signals are weak enough to disconnect from the world. We took walks, used the outside fire pit, enjoyed fine meals in the cute kitchen, and watched plenty of movies. We really like how they have a table along the back window to sit for meals and morning coffee and enjoy the view. The cabin is prefect for a couple and even any four-legged family members. Also, the cabin now has well water (lots of water).
Great location for many nearby hikes, kayaking, fishing in a beautiful remote setting. Cabin has everything you need . Owners rapidly responded when our car battery died . Had us back on the road within an hour ! Thank you to the friendly neighbor that helped us out !!
If you like movies on DVD for movie night or a rainy day, this place has it all! Nicely decorated, clean & amply appointed cabin located near many activities such as hiking in the Hoosier National Forest, grabbing a glass or a bottle at the Patoka Lake Winery or a hearty breakfast at Schwartz Family restaurant. We enjoyed a lovely long weekend.
The cabin was a lovely get away for anyone who wants to get off the grid for a few days. It was small but spacious, very comfortable, and had all the basics. We enjoyed hiking around the forest and swimming in Patoka lake. No wifi or internet access along with the surrounding forest made for the perfect conditions for unwinding and watching a movie from the wide selection of dvd’s provided. There was only one real issue with our stay. The water at the cabin is a rain/ cistern system which meant that the water had some color to it and also smelled bad. We ended up using water bottles for most of our drinking/ cooking. The host said that this was normal and safe, but we would have liked to know about it in advance, especially given the price of the rental. This was by no means a deal breaker— we still had an outstanding stay— but we imagine others would like to know this in advance as well. Overall great experience, can’t wait for our next trip to Patoka Lake and Hoosier National Forest
Just the place inwas looking for.
Beautiful cabin in the woods near Patoka lake!
Lovely location. Lake access nearby. Fridge is small, and no microwave. Bring cooler with ice if bringing more than a little food or a few beverages. Some bottled water kindly provided by inkeepers for our stay, but do bring drinking water. Just the quiet secluded location we were looking for.
This was such a cute little place. It was very clean and well taken care of. A great little place for a getaway. The walk to the lake was nice and peaceful, the view out the kitchen window was so amazing. Just really like how secluded it was, but close enough to a neighbor if needed. We would 100% recommend. Ps. I’m also a huge Chris Stapleton fan!
Property was amazing, clean and very relaxing. Convenient to everything yet still had privacy. Will be staying again and recommending to others!
