Hapuu room is a magical and very cozy spot with an intimate view into giant ferns and forest. The other guests in adjacent cabinswere very charming. We were all checking in at dark in heavy rain — note, the driveway is dark driveway and coming from Hilo and Jade Street, it is technically the second last on the right from the Ruby Street end of Second Street (the last driveway is a yard) — we were bumbling around but eventually took a dive and walked down into the dark and it was the right place — a beautiful spot.

It was a great place to stay. I would definitely stay there again. It was super quiet, clean, close to volcano. The only thing I would say is the driveway had a huge hole if maybe it could be filled with rocks and the soap dispenser was stuck. Oh yeah and the coffee pot didn’t work. All in all they brought us soap right and way with a new coffee maker. Definitely would stay there again😃

My stay here was nice, but I suggest arriving there during the day, it's very dark there at night. The place was very nice and tropical nature feel. It was clean but smells like cedar, if that bothers you. Very comfy bed too. I stayed two nights with no problems. The area is dark and nothing around. Very secluded and a little eery when staying alone but it is very close to the volcano which is why I came! All in all great stay!

Nice location. However street address sign not easily seen. Having to almost crawl under a semi fallen tree to reach room not a good thing. Normal shower amenities almost empty. But suppling coffe was a great touch and fern forest views were great.

Stunningly beautiful property grounds. Comfortable, clean, simple bedroom and furnishings. The bathroom fixtures could use upgrades. I couldn't get hot water from the shower or sink, but that may have been in some way due to the recent massive storm that hit the entire state, causing lots of flood and wind damage on the island, idk. I never mentioned it to the owner because I was too busy enjoying myself to bother, and wasn't actually at the property for much more than sleeping and breakfast. Owner was very responsive to messages, and sent some friendly recommendations for nearby dining and fun activities in the nearby Hawaii Volcanoes National Park (unfortunately closed due to downed power lines, trees, and mud buildup on the roads). Would definitely stay again, especially if visiting the volcanoes are on my agenda.

Parking is tight. There was only three vehicles when we arrived but if there was four it would be tight especially if you have a bigger vehicle. We stayed in one of the rooms behind. It is simple and enough if you are staying one or two days short term. Very close to Volcano national park

The cabin was spotlessly clean upon our arrival. As soon as you open the door, you see the great corner windows with a view of the rain forest. Your dining table for two awaits! The bed was comfortable and the electric heater kept the damp, cool edge off. The small kitchenette had everything we needed. The bathroom was spacious and clean. You feel like you are off in your own little corner of the rain forest. Jennifer was extremely helpful with local information and was always quick to respond to my inquiries. Excellent communication! We would gladly return! An excellent value and close to Volcanoes National Park.

Our stay was double booked by host. We were at the door ready to open and an older couple were already inside. We were then told by the host that the older couple could be upgraded to a larger place but that would have taken time for them to move because all of their clothes were hung.

Beautiful VRBO and very clean. I would recommend arriving in the daylight hours due to the driveway being difficult to see at night. I loved that it felt like I was sleeping in the rainforest.

We had an amazing time at the cabin. We only stayed 1 night but we wish we would’ve stayed additional nights. Jennifer is soo kind and so accommodating. Easily the most accommodating hosts we stayed with. The views from this cabin are STUNNING. It’s such a beautiful cabin. Highly recommend staying here if you visit Volcano.

The host canceled our stay at 4:00 PM on the day of check-in, without providing any explanation. This last minute cancellation was completely unacceptable, especially during the holidays. This was my first negative experience with a host, and it was extremely disappointing given the host’s high rating. I expected far better communication and reliability. While I appreciate VRBO for helping us secure a last-minute rebooking, we were already en route and had to drive to the opposite side of the island, only to discover that our reservation had been canceled. This caused significant disruption to our plans and unnecessary stress. Based on this experience, I found the host unreliable and would not book with them again.

Such a beautiful setting. The view of the ferns and the Flamingo Lily's were amazing. The unit was clean and had all that we needed for one night stay (wish it would have been two). The bed was extremely comfortable, and the nature sounds at night lulled me to sleep. This is a perfect place to stay for a visit to VNP. We didn't receive the check in instructions until after 4PM and this was a bit stressful, but there was someone on site who helped us. If we ever make it back to the area, I would stay here or another one of the units again. :)

Can't say enough about the beautiful tropical scenery, the super clean room and bath. Just as advertised. We brought our own water to drink as suggested and the cool mountain nights were perfect. Very comfortable bed, lux towels and super quiet location. The host even sent us an up-date about the volcano eruption (unfortunately that happened before we got there) but we had a great time. Thanks so much!
