This SML place is perfect for fishing, swimming, kayaking, or simply relaxing on the dock. The stairs lead to the water, and the kayaks are already there. The two docks allow one kid to fish while the other kayaks. There’s a fire pit, hot tub, and gas grill, all easy to use. Note that the downstairs area is inaccessible from the main living area. Ideal for older kids or adults, but not for young kids alone. The clean house and property provided everything we needed. A nearby grocery store allowed us to cook most meals.

Love the amenities and lake view. The dock with the perfect weather and breeze was amazing! First time kayakers here, and was a fabulous venue for a first time (I, Mom, loved the purple kayak, claimed it! Haha). We loved the hot tub and game room! As well as our 18 yr old, one eyed, practically blind pup! She loved walking her circles in the space, sons loved the ping pong table and skee-ball! We all loved watching Ant-Man on the big tv. We would love to come back!!

Beautiful view of the water. Enjoyed the hot tub. Great communication. Let us know ahead that WiFi was down and we could reschedule to the following week when it would be fixed if we wanted. Property manager even apologized for the weather. :)

We really appreciated our host - she was super helpful, always connected, nice and professional. We faced some issues, caused by the weather and beyond anybody's control, but the host just saved our trip. Because of her we had wonderful weekend, relaxing and quiet. We would love to come back again.

This cottage was perfect for my husband and I. We loved relaxing on the deck and the dock, enjoyed seeing all of the wildlife (with daily visits from deer and herons) and chilling on the couch watching TV once it was too chilly to sit outside any longer. We did not use the game room but it looked like it would be perfect for a family with kids. We rented a pontoon boat one day and had no problems pulling up to the dock. I would not recommend bringing a trailer, but if you do, be sure to coordinate with Taylor ahead of time so you know where to park. The driveway is rather steep and gravel, not paved, so something to be aware of if you plan on traveling with motorcycles. Overall we had a lovely time! Taylor was very accommodating and easy to communicate with!

This little cottage is the cutest! My husband, sister, brother in law, their baby boy, and my self had the most wonderful week. The walk to the dock was easy and convenient. Our dogs loved it, as well! Taylor is super easy to get in touch with and very responsive to messages. By far the cleanest house we’ve stayed in. We will be booking again next year!

The house is well stocked with things you need to cook—usually that is not the case but this house had everything. It was very clean and comfortable. Taylor is fabulous and very responsive. Couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay. Thank you.

We had a great stay at this location. Home was clean and perfectly located on the lake. There were two docks which were great as we brought a boat and a couple jetskis. Would recommend and we plan to be back.

This property was amazing! We really enjoyed the lower level/game room. The interior of the property was very beautiful and totally fit the vibe of the lake. The host was very responsive before and during our trip. Would totally book again for our next SNL trip.

This property is beautiful and provided everything you could hope for in a SML weekend retreat. 2 private docks, fire pit, hot tub, and a beautiful space to relax. Lots of fun things to do on site and it was a perfect getaway. Host was very communicative and went above & beyond.

We had a great time celebrating my birthday at this beautiful lake cottage. The home has no carpet which is great - its spacious, well-stocked, and full of thoughtful family-friendly touches like Guitar Hero, games including a ping pong table, and a hot tub. AC was GREAT, the beds were comfy, and the separate guest suite—with its own private entrance, bathroom, and kitchen—was a great option for extra space. The pull-out mattress is simple, but a very nice additional sleeping arrangement if needed!The outdoor space was a highlight—great docks, kayaks, floats, and firewood ready to go. We also rented a boat, and it was super easy and convenient to do so. The neighborhood was peaceful and minutes from Food Lion and the shopping center.The steps leading down to the lake are tiled and have a bit of movement, so just take your time. Not a big deal but the shower head in the main bathroom is positioned a little awkwardly—nothing major that impacted our overall enjoyment! Taylor was a wonderful and responsive host who made the experience pleasant from start to finish. I would definitely recommend this place for a fun, relaxing lake getaway!

Super easy to get to and get into Moneta/Bridgewater for anything you need or want. Food Lion is about 10 mins from the place if you need to do any real grocery shopping. The market at the entrance to the neighborhood had a good selection of drinks and snacks too.If you rent a boat at bridgewater it's probably a 10 min boat ride back to the dock. The docks are on deep water and really easy to pull into.The family & dog loved being on the water and being able to have a nice quite cove to swim in.The house is great, the boys loved having the game room to themselves. The downstairs has a separate entrance, so we called it their apartment and they got a kick out of that.

We rented this cabin for a family getaway for Memorial Day. Everything was exactly as the listing stated. The property was super clean and well appointed. The property is unique with a kitchen on both levels and a full bathroom in the the lower level game room area. The views are stunning and I enjoyed watching the sunrise on the dock

Everything about Firefly Cottage was perfect. The listing is exactly as described and more. Plenty of amenities, enough comfortable space for all of us, and the location was so peaceful and quiet. Taylor answered all of my questions quickly and was the most helpful host I’ve ever dealt with. We enjoyed every moment spent at the lake and look forward to coming back again next year. 10/10

This was a wonderful home away from home for our family! We never left the house because there’s so much to do there- board games, game tables, hot tub, kayak, movies, fishing, etc. Everything was clean when we came in and there’s an abundance of towels! It has everything you could need- pots/pans, spices, coffee, all the essentials. We were able to catch little fish (blue gills) off the dock and even caught catfish (the highlight of our trip). We had two young kids with us (age 1 & 2) so the kid life vests for the dock came in very handy. We would absolutely come back!

Great location.

About a month after our first stay here, we returned for more relaxation and fishing. Once again, this house delivered on all expectations.We can't recommend this property enough, and will always look as our first choice when visiting Smith Mt. Lake.

Upon arrival we noticed everything was very clean. The view is great. We enjoyed sitting on the porch, the docks, and enjoying time in the hot tub. Each room having a smart TV for the kids was a bonus. They enjoyed time in the game room playing ping pong. Sitting by the campfire and making s’mores was a great way to end our days. We can’t wait to plan a trip back.

Our time here was great. When we weren't playing games in the lower half, we were enjoying the peaceful view and wildlife around us.

We were looking for a place to stay that offered convenient fishing, nice views, and clean/comfortable quarters. This house checked every box!The kayaks were ready to jump in and row to the fish, life jackets and oars on-site. The hot tub was so perfect after getting chilled by the March breeze while fishing from the kayaks (we landed a 2 lb small mouth as our biggest catch).The comfy couch fit our family for good movie nights, we really appreciated being able to log into our Amazon and Direct TV apps.We enjoyed our stay so much that we booked another several days in April!My family is quite picky about cleanliness and we were very impressed with the Firefly.Food Lion was an easy 10 min drive for groceries and the bait & tackle shop at Indian Point Marina, just a bit further, has everything you might need if you want to fish.We are 4 hours away but it is well-worth the drive for us, we absolutely love the cove location and being surrounded by trees, high over the lake. The game room in the downstairs is a great spot for kids, and has a second kitchen and soaker tub.Overall a great choice for a family getaway!

Overall great trip with family. Husband, wife, 2 teens, and 2 dogs. The only downfall was I think the steepness of the property was not well reflected in the listing. Husband and dog (both older, so not the most graceful and didn't use the stairs) fell down the hill to the water. We ended up having to locked the older dog in the house due to it being unsafe for her. Other dog loved it and realized he could throw his ball by himself down the hill and into the water for him to fetch himself. He loved the water. Even with it being Oct, the water was warm enough for the dog. The house was really clean with a lot of supplies there (washing, bags, shampoo, cookware, etc)There was more than enough stuff to do at the house (kayaks, fishing, games, etc). Host was responsive and checked in. Do plan on coming back without the older dog in the summer.

We enjoyed our stay at The Firefly Cottage. The listing and pictures for the property were exactly what we experienced. Communication with the host (Taylor) was good, but we had no issues that required any level of urgency. The Smith Mountain Lake area has many options for activities. It rained much of the time we were there so we didn't spent any time on the water and still had plenty to do. I recommend searching for SML Insiders for info on area attractions.

House is perfectly situated & close to shopping & restaurants. We recommend this stay to anyone interested in staying in Moneta and Smith Mountain Lake!!

This amazing cottage has everything you need for a relaxing stay right on the lake. The surrounding area combines mountain views and lakefront amenities with plenty of opportunities to visit restaurants and Smith Mountain State Park. The property is intentionally designed for life being easier on the lake and includes a nice game room downstairs as an additional place to relax. The host is very responsive and informative. It is an excellent place to book with good value.

This is the 2nd time I stayed at a property managed by this host, and each time, they've been very responsive and helpful both leading up to the stay, and during it. Cute house with plenty of amenities. Quiet cove that's great for swimming and floating without worrying about boat traffic. A note for anyone with a boat: If you're concerned about the depth of the water, with how far into the cove the dock is, don't be. We visited when the lake was very low (~792 ft. give or take, vs. a full pond ~795 ft), and when we docked our 18 ft. jet boat (using the dock farthest into the cove) bow in, our boat was still measuring ~5 ft. at the stern, even with the lake being low.
