Shaver Lake, California
Tiny Shaver | a Tiny Home in the Heart of Shaver Lake Village
Whether you're looking for a special getaway in the woods, or a quiet place to unwind, this luxurious tiny mountain lodge awaits. It has all the rustic luxury and charm of a ski lodge resort, packed into a unique 400 square foot space! A trailhead on the property leads to the Camp Edison and the Lake! Located right behind Ken's Market and Shaver Lake hotel, park in the garage and walk to all your favorite restaurants and shops in Shaver. Unplug and spend quality time on the front deck, playing cards around the table, or snuggle up to watch TV or cuddle in front of the fireplace, easily workable with an on/off switch. Large windows let the mountain light stream in, and provide picturesque views of the surroundings. Washer and dryer, Wifi, and free parking are provided.
The Space
The tiny home is located above a garage. You'll enter through the garage, where you'll see the washer and dryer, a card table and BBQ for hanging out downstairs on summer days, parking, and storage. Toward the back of the garage, stairs will lead you up to the living space. As soon as you enter the door, you'll fall in love! A mix of natural textures, neutral colors, and rustic pieces come together for the perfect tiny mountain lodge. On your right, the queen bed pulls down from the cabinet, and features a memory foam mattress and high-end linens. The door to the bathroom was crafted out of a tree slab by a local artist! Every feature was carefully designed to keep the integrity of a true Shaver Lake cabin. The fully equipped kitchen has every appliance needed to cook a warm meal while you're in town. If you forgot any ingredients, Ken's Market is just a few steps out the front door! The sliding glass doors open to the balcony. We love to sit and people watch during the busy season. Sometimes, there are events right in the parking lot in front of the cabin! In the slow season, snuggle up and watch the snow fall, or wait by the window for wildlife to mosey nearby.
The Neighborhood
Located in the heart of the Shaver Lake Village, just behind Ken's Market, to the left of Shaver Lake hotel. Walk to every restaurant and shop in Shaver! There is a trailhead, the "Town Trail" located on the North end of the property, which leads to Camp Edison campground, museum, and eventually the lake! Walk by Shaver Stables, through towering trees, and incredible rock formations. Rent water sports gear, kayaks, boats, etc. at the first dock just 5 minutes away! Easy 25 minute drive to China Peak Ski Resort and Huntington Lake. While you're in town, check out Mono Hot Springs, Dinkey Creek Honeymoon Pools, and Rancheria Falls! The Shaver area is a community, rich in generations of family memories and natural beauty. Shaver Lake is a popular lake for water sports activities. Water skiing, jet skis and windsurfing are some of the activities available at this mountain lake. Canoe and kayak enthusiasts will find many out of the way coves and miles of shoreline to explore.

The property itself was up to date and what you would expect from a tiny house. The low rating is related to the management company as well as the location of the property being in the back parking lot of a market. We arrived at 11PM to find that there was no running water at the property. There were 3 contact numbers to call which we did with no answer, voice mails were left. We also messaged through the VRBO app with no reply. After confirming the water main was on, we decided to stay the night as there were no other options. The next morning we went through the same process in attempts to contact someone from the property management company (Guest Equity) with no success. On our investigation, we learned there was a problem with the well on the property from a local and that it would take a minimum of 2 days to repair. Luckily, we were able to rent another place close by for the remainder of our vacation. We continued attempts to contact the management company of the property throughout the day by all methods available including the VRBO app with no response. On day 3, I was able to contact the Guest Equity management company but only because I selected the option on their phone system of wanting to list a property with them. After the situation was explained, they began the process a refund for the vacation. Based on my experience, I would not rent any property where Guest Equity is the management company.
Interior nice and well decorated. Didn't realize it was just behind a market. The driveway had not been cleared and the host really didn't know why and couldn't do anything for the three. The place is right for the right purpose/price.
