Once you step off the porch, you have roughly 60 acres of woods to explore with walking trails by the creek, by the pond and to the river. Fishing allowed in both places. There is a rustic, outdoor shelter by the pond with a large fire pit and picnic tables. There is an old tool workshop overlooking the pond.

Lee and Amy’s cabin was an incredible getaway! We stayed because we were attending a wedding in nearby Athens and we can already not wait to go back for the cabin itself! The bookshelves have all kinds of hidden gems in them, from farming guides to folklore, and everything in between. The owners are so kind and friendly, and very knowledgeable about the property, and they had local eggs, juice and banana bread waiting for us at the start of our stay. It was the first really cold night of the season, and the heaters were wonderful at keeping us warm. We had the best time sitting on the couch reading to one another and eating the short ribs we braised in the amazing vintage oven in the cabin. I can’t picture a better place to stay than the Portico cabin, and we are thankful to have stayed there this weekend.
We had a great stay here on this beautiful property! The host Amy and Lee are amazing! They even left us some complimentary eggs, OJ and Banana Bread! We loved the country feel! We are definitely going to be back!
Easy check in Easy Check out Located close to Athens Nearby shopping Available Pond and river on property Able to see deer and wild turkey on property
This cabin is exactly as cozy and relaxing as it looks. Finding it was very easy and Lee and Amy were so kind to meet me and show me around when I arrived. Every detail of the cabin is thoughtfully curated to give you a feel of leaving the stress and rush of today behind for something simpler. If you're used to big luxury cabins with high tech and modern amenities, this is not it. But what you do get is a time for quiet connection with yourself or partner, a chance to rid yourself of distractions, and a step toward peace and serenity. I enjoyed cooking on the little kitchenette stove and eating breakfast on the porch while I watched a family of 7 or 8 deer play in the field. There's an easy walking path around the property that gives beautiful views of a pond. At night you can step outside and practically touch the stars on a clear night. Take something warm to sleep in and some thick socks or house shoes to keep your feet warm at night in the winter. There are fun little towns all around to visit and it's not far from a lot of historical sites. This was my favorite place to vacation so far. I will definitely plan to be back. Many thanks to Lee and Amy for their kind hospitality and ease of communication.
