The Otter Box Cabin is a beautiful cabin situated on the 92-acre retreat property known as Woodland Retreat at DeSoto. As its name implies, this cabin and retreat property offer guests a peaceful retreat and cool mountain getaway, deep in the woods and high atop Lookout Mountain in Alabama. This cabin also has an optional no-stairs entrance (4 ft+ ramp), 32” interior doors, and wide floor space in the bedrooms and in the living room. Explore waterfalls, parks, shops, and restaurants. Relax by the rock fire pit or on the front porch with a cup of coffee, and enjoy views through a canopy of trees. Wildlife is spotted frequently on the property, and beautiful hiking trails are walking distance as the backyard of the cabin is part of DeSoto State Park. Renew, refresh, and be restored!

**THE RETREAT PROPERTY**

Not long after you turn onto the private road that winds through the retreat property, you will pass Coyote Cabin on your left (also listed). Soon after, you will see The Otter Box Cabin, also on the left, along with your own private parking area (2 cars max).

Beside your parking area at The Otter Box Cabin, there are stairs leading up to the cabin's entrance from the parking area as well as a no-stairs option with a wide ramp that leads to the front porch. You will appreciate the beautiful treehouse views from the covered porch area. This is a great place to enjoy a cup of coffee or hot tea in the morning and take in the views :)

Stepping inside the cabin, you will know your peaceful retreat has begun as you are surrounded by windows that reveal refreshing views through a canopy of trees. Be sure to look up and notice the beautiful wood ceiling that was built by the homeowners and upcycled from hurricane-weathered wood planks on Alabama's own coast in Baldwin County.

Moving into the main living area, you will appreciate the sight of a large comfortable sofa and loveseat. There is plenty of room for your family to enjoy this space and additional floorspace consideration for our guests who require a wheelchair. The sofa folds out to a queen bed when there are 6 guests. There is a gas log fireplace for your enjoyment, and for movie nights in, there is a 55 HD smart television in the living room with fast Wi-Fi for streaming your own favorite channel subscriptions. A DVD player is also available if you'd like to bring your favorite DVDs.

Directly next to the living room area is the dining area and kitchen. There is a smaller dining table to allow for wider floor space consideration, and there are 4 chairs, with additional chairs on the front porch. In the kitchen, there is a refrigerator, stove, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, toaster, blender, cooking pots, can opener, pans and utensils, dishes, drinking glasses, eating utensils, cooking spices, coffee mugs, and more.

Both of the bedrooms have 32-inch doorways, wider floor space and beautiful window views into the wooded backyard. Each bedroom has a closet with a dresser inside to accommodate more floor space in the bedroom. In each bedroom, there is a queen bed and with comfortable bedding for your rest and relaxation.

A full bathroom, also with a 32-inch doorway, includes a full tub/shower combo with a hand-held shower option.

Directly across the hall from the bathroom, there is a full laundry room with a washer and dryer available for your convenience, as well as a fold-out ironing board with iron. You will also find extra quilts, a portable fan and a sofa-bedding kit.

Back outside and near the cabin, you will notice a river rock fire pit designed with your retreat in mind. You are welcomed to use any small pieces of fallen wood that can safely fit inside the fire pit, and firewood bundles are sold at nearby stores. Please only burn firewood, as the homeowners and guests roast food over this fire pit. Extendable roasters are located in a kitchen drawer for your convenience, so be sure to bring ingredients for s'more memories.

Near the fire pit is your Charcoal/wood-burning Campground-Style BBQ Grill with a metal bucket and lid to collect BBQ grill ashes :)

Nice, clean place to get away from the noise of everyday life.

The cabin was so cozy and Misty was so nice! The reason I rated 4 stars instead of five is because I would love to see some motion censored lights or something of that nature. If you go somewhere and come back at night, it’s really pitch black outside, so you have to use a flashlight. I had my baby with me so getting him in and out of the car seat was a challenge, but not impossible.

Everything was great and accurate to the listing. The only issue was finding the driveway but we did get there at night so taht made it harder.

We really enjoyed our stay. Cabin was exactly as they described. The beds were very comfortable and the cabin was very clean. We have a daughter in a wheelchair so we loved the wide door ways and the ramp. We had no issues at all getting her in and her being able to move around in the cabin. It was so peaceful and quiet, we will definitely be back. Misti was an excellent host and available if needed. Thank you so much for allowing us to stay.

We had an uninvited guest in our home state of Louisiana too close for comfort with dogs. We were guest in this cabin during Labor Day weekend and contacted Peaciful Retreats about Otter Box cabin short notice. The hosts were quick to accommodate us and our pups. Thank you again for your hospitality and we will always consider you first on our list for cabin rentals. The Colburn’s Cinder and Bandit Mandeville, LA

We enjoyed staying at Otter Box cabin for the long Labor Day weekend. This cabin is close to grocery, restaurants and outdoor adventures near Desoto State Park. We travel with our dogs and they loved the porch sitting and being able to get them out for walk up the hill and back to cabin was very nice. Thank you for your great hospitality and we will for sure be back. The Colburn’s Cinder and Bandit Mandeville, Louisiana

The Otter Box cabin was the perfect getaway for us to relax and unwind. The cabin was immaculate and so comfortable. We enjoyed sitting on the covered porch listening to the birds and the wind in the trees. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Misti was so helpful from making reservations to suggesting local events and activities. We had a great time.

The Otter Box cabin was the perfect getaway! We were offered very early check-in to this immaculate cabin. We had absolutely everything we needed and some extras to include snacks and the best coffee. Sitting on the porch and watching the deer with a hot, fresh cup of coffee was a favorite. We were comfortable, and the setting is so peaceful. The host is friendly and very precise with directions. Our only regret is we couldn't stay longer.

The Otter Box Cabin is a slice of heaven here on earth! The actual cabin as well as the grounds is so peaceful and beautiful! The living area in Otter Box Cabin is spacious for a Cabin sleeping six guests. Otter Box is graciously stocked with all the comforts of home. Parking is extremely convenient...you can back up your vehicle to the steps, and most importantly, there is a handicap ramp available to guests who are less comfortable with the stairs! Having the ramp was the #1 reason we booked this specific cabin! We intend to book The Otter Box Cabin for our next visit!
