The Great Escape - Near everything yet off the beaten path

We really enjoyed the open space of the cabin. There is a fenced in backyard for dogs to play. It wason a pavwd road and eash to get to. Most nice dining places and wineries are 30-40 minutes away, but easily driveable.

This is a wonderful cabin. Very clean and cozy with a beautiful fireplace. Easy access to Shenandoah National Park. The cabin is on a peaceful, quiet street. Very scenic with a nice view of the sunrise just a quick walk up the street. Don and Lina were great hosts and did a great job of communicating and keeping us informed from check-in to check-out. We didn't have any issues during our stay.Highly recommended! We will come back again for sure!

We had an amazing stay at this cabin. The space was spotless, cozy, and thoughtfully set up for a relaxing getaway. The kitchen had everything we needed, the beds were comfortable, and the outdoor area was perfect for morning coffee and evening unwinding. The location struck a great balance — peaceful and private, but still close enough to local shops and trails. The host was responsive and made everything easy. We’d happily stay here again.

This was a great cabin stay. Very clean and well stocked kitchen. Beds were comfortable. The outside shows the property is well maintained. We enjoyed the hot tub and our dog had a large fenced in yard to enjoy. The location made it an easy drive to area sites.

The place was amazing! It was well done; had everything you could need; and immaculatly clean. It was everything we hoped for and more, including the hot tub! We ended up having to cut our visit short because of a sick daughter, but we hope to come back sometime in the future.If you are coming to the Shenandoah National Park, this is a great place to rent.

We have stayed at The Great Escape numerous times and love the cabin. It is perfect for a long weekend in the mountains. During the days, we enjoy hikes in Shenandoah National Park and the George Washington National Forest. In the evenings, we relax in the hot tub, prepare dinners in the very well-equipped kitchen, and sleep soundly in the comfortable bed. A fully fenced in back yard for dogs and a washer and dryer are two of our favorite amenities. Don and Lina are excellent hosts, making sure the cabin has everything we need and always being accessible.

This was our 2nd stay at the cabin. We love this place. Great place to stay near the park. We will be back next year. Thank you!

Wonderful cabin on quiet road outside Luray VA Host communication was excellent with a great detail list of things to do in area. Would highly recommend this cabin.

This property was exactly as depicted. The king size bed was comfortable. The television was easy to control and we were able to watch baseball and our football team. We spent a lot of time at Shenandoah National Park. The house was also located within a half mile of Catherine’s Furnace in George Washington National Park. Good hiking! The neighborhood was nice and quiet. The backyard was large and fenced. We were comfortable. We appreciated the To Do book the hosts had put together. The food recommendations were spot on.

Right away it felt like home. Everything you would need was there. It was in a wonderful neighborhood and nicely located between the wedding venue we were attending and some sightseeing options. The house was immaculate, cozy, and welcoming.

Loved that we could take our dog with us,and with the fenced in yard, it was perfect. The hot tub was nice to relax in. The property is very clean, and the beds were very comfortable. The hosts couldn't have been nicer, with many of the starting essentials like toilet paper and paper towels provided. They even provided essentials for our pooch! The cabin and yard were very clean and tidy! The hosts sent over a pre-arrival document that detailed instructions but also places to go, things to do, and recommended restaurants that was very helpful. The hosts were attentive during our time there!

Overall fabulous stay! Fully furnished Cabin with fenced in backyard for our dogs to play in. Conveniently located close to Luray, NC and local attractions like Luray Caverns and Antique Car Museum. Just off the beaten path for privacy with a few neighbors all around. Great for two couples to get away for a long weekend!

Beautiful well stocked clean cabin. Host were very nice and quick to respond to any questions! Very quiet area. Central location for area. Within an hour of Monticello and Staunton. Would definitely recommend staying here!

The cabin and grounds were extremely neat and clean. Host tried to think of everything imaginable to make your stay comfortable. Was very happy to see the backyard so closely fenced in. I have little dogs and was afraid they could escape, but it was very secure. Neighbors are a lot closer than I anticipated but it wasn’t a problem. Lots of loose dogs walking around this relatively rural neighborhood. that was my only knock on the property. Recommended it to my daughter for the fall.

The cabin was very comfortable with a modern kitchen comfy beds, nice bathrooms. It was clean with good linens on the beds. And towels in the bathrooms. We enjoyed sitting on the front porch enjoying the birdsong in the morning and the frogs in the evening.

One of my best ever VRBO experiences! This is a lovely, well-designed house with top-notch kitchen appliances, nice porch & deck, gas grill & hot tub. We were two older couples getting together and going to see the sights in Shenandoah National Park. For hikers, there's an entrance to George Washington National Forest just a few yards from the house. The hosts were gracious, helpful and very responsive. Highly recommend this VRBO!

This property checked all the boxes for our Shenandoah getaway. The cabin is perfectly located, nestled in a quiet neighborhood right at the trail head for The George Washington National Forest. There is a great general store, Kites, right at the beginning of the street, we went there daily for coffee, breakfast sandwiches, muffins, local products, etc. The cabin is a short drive to downtown Luray (we enjoyed Gathering Grounds coffee and walking the Hawksbill Greenway path through town). The Thorton Gap entrance to Shenandoah National Forest is a 20 minute drive from Luray and a great starting point to explore the park. The cabin itself is spacious, clean and loaded with amenities (laundry, gas fireplace, 2 bathrooms, outdoor hot tub, gas grill, etc.). We particularly enjoyed having a large fenced in backyard to let our dog out. The owners were prompt and courteous in all correspondence and made booking this stay a breeze. Will definitely return in the future.

This home is simply perfect. Clean, cozy, and charming. Sumptuous beds and linens, the hot tub under the stars, and morning coffee on the porch. It was just what we needed. Steps away from National forest and Mountain Views. Quiet neighborhood next to farm. Central location to local attractions.

My (now!) fiancee and I were celebrating our 10 year dating anniversary and wanted to get away with our two baby bears (Bernese mountain dogs are the best if you didn't know!) for a staycation within a few hours of the DMV. The Great Escape came up in a pet friendly search, (after an already exhaustive search elsewhere) and seemed to check all of the proverbial boxes (and boy, did it). Not only was the property beautiful, well maintained, clean, well stocked, close enough to everything (but far away, too!), and as serene as we could ask for, it was the perfect place for our bears to run around and play (for the 5 minutes they want to) in a safe, fenced in environment!The side quest of this mission, though, was to surprise my girlfriend with an engagement, and all she ever asked for was it to just be us, somewhere quiet and meaningful, with some record of it happening. There are beautiful cherry blossoms in front of the house, which luckily were in bloom, and I was able to propose while (sneakily) video'ing instead of taking pictures. It was a perfect moment, in the perfect setting, and fortunately, even after making her wait 10 years, she said yes!Don and Linda were amazing hosts who provided us, both before and during our stay, plenty of information, local places to visit/see, all of the amenities we could ask for, comfy beds to lay our heads on, and the pet friendliness you won't get from anywhere else. It truly was our great escape, and one of our greatest memories.

I stayed here with my dog for 3 nights and we absolutely loved it! The neighborhood is nice and quiet and the views from the cabin and the street are breathtaking. The cabin is well stocked with everything one could need and the fenced yard was great for my dog!

My family rented this cabin for a weekend away from home - but not so far away. The cabin is clean, well stocked and was easy to relax in!

Such a nice getaway and so very cozy. We spent the weekend here as a getaway following our wedding. It was a quiet area and the layout was great for me with mobility issues and the yard is incredible and a great place for dogs, we had our service animals with us and the amenities they provided for dogs were great too. We will definitely try to stay again.

We have stayed in the Great Escape multiple times. It is always clean, comfortable, inviting, and well stocked. The neighborhood is quiet and a short walk to the National Forest. Our dogs have a wonderful time playing and exploring in the large, securely fenced back yard. Communication with the host is great, they are very helpful and responsive. I travel to the area to visit and do family research fairly often. The Great Escape is always my first choice for lodging.

We have vacationed at The Great Escape more times than we can count. We keep returning because it is a wonderful cabin. It has everything we need - fully stocked kitchen, very comfortable furnishings, convenient location, etc. It also has some very nice extras including a nice hot tub and a fenced in backyard, which is great for the dog. Don and Lina are excellent hosts and make communication easy. We hope to return yet again soon!

We just got back from our 5 day, 4 night stay in the Great Escape. We loved the cabin. It was super clean and comfortable. We were able to hike in Shenandoah easily from the cabin and experienced the greatest night sky on the back deck every night. The kitchen was a great plus as we cooked breakfast every morning. We highly recommend and are already planning on our next stay.

Open concept cabin with beautiful fenced in back yard. Very clean and very cozy. We made dinner almost every night and the kitchen had everything we needed including grilling utensils. We loved the hot tub for relaxing after our hikes and the front porch to sit and chat. The bed was very comfortable and having two bathrooms was super convenient. My husband and I have stayed at many VRBOs and this one is in our top 2. Thank you Don and Lina for a wonderful vacation experience! Susan and Roger

Fantastic cabin near Shenandoah National Park. Had a great time relaxing in the hot tub and in front of the fire place. Our pup also enjoyed the fully fenced-in backyard. Well-stocked too!

This is the cleanest and most organized VRBO we have ever stayed at! Don and Lina were very responsive everytime we had a question. Their property is located within 30 min of Skyline Drive and several caverns and has a gated yard our two small dogs loved. Front and back porch are great to relax on!.

The cabin was perfect! Clean with lots of space to relax. The hot tub was relaxing each night, the kitchen was well stocked for cooking meals and the daily visits by deer and bunnies was a highlight for our daughter. Very comfortable!
