The Druid's Cabin - a Wolf Crossing cabin - is a small 1 bedroom cabin in Silver Gate approximately 3000' from the Northeast Entrance to Yellowstone and approximately 3 miles from Cooke City on Highway 212 (National Park Road and the Beartooth Highway). A basic cabin old cabin with a wolf theme. It has a bath with a shower, a queen -size bed, a small refrigerator, a microwave, a toaster oven and a coffee maker. There is small front porch. WE HAVE JUST ADDED SATELLITE TELEVISION WITH 150 CHANNELS AS WELL AS WIRELESS INTERNET FOR YOUR LAPTOP via Starlink. The photo of the interior is a bit old and shows a futon instead of the queen size bed that is there. There is also a door where the small rear window used to be.

There is a general store in town within walking distance as well as the Log Cabin Restaurant and the Sun Dog store. A mountaineering store is also within walking distance. Soda Butte Creek is located across the road approximately 600' away. In addition to Yellowstone National Park, we are surrounded by the Absaroka Wilderness as well as the Gallatin National Forest. Great hunting, fishing, hiking, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, kayaking and wildlife viewing abounds. This small cabin makes a quiet and unique base-camp for a world of outdoor activities. Please note that it is an old hand built cabin. We have pine martens and foxes around constantly eating mice. I blame their laxness if any should appear.

Virtually no sound barrier between next room. Cabin name was mislabeled. Dirty room and bed spread and blanket. Difficult access to outlets. Mouse trapped in trap. Larger gritter scratching and gnawing bottem of floor from under the cabin fro 3:00 AM until I stated moving in the AM. Sign identifying the VRBO. sign was very hard to see and covered by a flag which made it impossible to find the driveway. Site manager was pleasant but was residing in the cabin I was assuming genes to. She said the names of the cabins had changed.

The property was advertised as a stand alone, small cabin. In reality that stand alone, small cabin had a two story addition built onto it. There were guests staying in the other unit. The door between the unit had gaps where light came through and there was no sound insulation between them. So the property was not as advertised. The cabin was more or less clean where it mattered...though the porches and around the front had debris strewn about and were not swept or orderly. There was a coffee maker with filters and non-dairy creamer but NO COFFEE. Since this cabin was isolated, it was not convenient to drive to find coffee at 6 AM. Very disappointing. The little fridge did work nicely and the shower was nice and hot. I would stay there again only if I was assured there would be no guests in the other unit and I would be prepared with my own coffee.

It is a great little cabin for two. Close to Yellowstones front door. John was so nice and helpful. We will be back for sure!

Liked cabin itself a lot but sheets appeared to have been slept in with evidence of hair on pillow cases, rug fuzz at foot of sheets, and a distinct smell of another person having slept there. We layed our shirts on top of the pillows. Bathroom wasn't clean and coffee maker basket was disgusting. I really had high hopes for the place but such a disappointment.

The only thing that kept me from giving all of it a five-star was the name of the cabin door. I was looking for Druids and found Slough. After a 5-minute debate we decided it was the right cabin because of the description of the vertical outside Timbers.

The cabin identification was inaccurate. The description was correct, but the name was wrong. It also failed to mention that it was connected to another cabin which took away the privacy because you could hear everything going on in the other cabin. (See photo below)

It’s great little cabin to stay near the NE entrance of Yellowstone. It’s a no frill cabin, but has the basics of what you need.

The photos shown for the wolf cabin on the Vrbo sight are not of the same cabin. Under the amenities it says the cabin had a stove… no stove anywhere. When I inquired, the owner told us that he could have a hot plate brought over (looked like it was a fire hazard) also even if we were to use it there was no pan! The owner said that because of a lack of ventilation a stove could not be used, so that is why there isn’t one??? Also the way this cabin is put together especially the wiring, is not up to code in our opinion and appears to be a fire hazard. One good thing is that the wifi worked well. Sarah, one of the house cleaners stopped by late to check on us ( she needs a raise!), she agreed that the photos did not look like the same cabin and suggested for us to move to the cabin behind (wapiti), so we did and it was very clean and nice. Glenn the owner seemed to believe that we thought we rented the wapiti cabin and the answer to that was is no, we were expecting the cabin in the photos!

Worst rental experience ever. The property is poorly marked and very difficult to find. Parking was horrendous. The cabin was dirty, lighting was inadequate, the microwave barely worked, and the check-in was essentially non-existent. I am dependent on a CPAP, and the power went out while I was asleep and again in the evening of the same day. No power and no water made any further stay untenable. I left early, and got a seemingly automatic denial of partial refund. Will be sharing this with everyone I can.

Pictures are worth a 1000 words.. unfortunately I did not take any of our stay. The pictures online are definitely a far cry from what you are actually getting. We arrived after 10 pm which I do not suggest arriving after dark. The cabin ( I use that word loosely) was nothing more than someone’s shed that was makeshift in to lodging. The whole “cabin” rocked and swayed as you moved around. The only room you had was a path around the bed to move about. Foam spray in the walls is the only thing that kept the inside from the outside. Bathroom shower flooded the floor and the one towel we had to use to clean up. Water damage around the outlet of the bathroom wall so would not advise to plug anything in unless you wanted to become electrified. Felt like we were being eaten alive while we slept so that was a no go. Someone parked in front of our cabin so when we arrived we parked behind them since there was no where else to park. Was woke up at 6 am with them beating on the door asking us to move our vehicle. They were in the cabin behind us. Not sure why they parked at our cabin.. This cabin was rented for two nights but we left after the first one and found other lodging. Other cabins around had old junk In their yards ( old stoves, refrigerators, etc). I can’t believe that this place is allowed to be considered as lodging. Would not recommend staying here.

We had a hard time locating our cabin when we arrived. The cabin we were in was wolfs crossing but it also had the slough on the cabin. Parking was horrible. It would be a great benefit to have marked parking slots for each cabin and then an extra vehicle parking area for those bringing more than one car. The bathroom was very tiny. The bed had springs that made noises whenever you sat on it. The listing said there was a stove top, there was not. And the small cabins are added on to a larger unit with a normal interior door separating them. This made it very noisy if your neighbors happened to be loud, or liked to sing.Everything else was fine. Overall this was an okay place to stay if you want a rustic experience with running water and power. There was a Yellowstone book in the cabin for guests to look through. There were chairs to use during your stay. There was also a phone in the room and decent wifi. We had been told before arriving that there was no cell coverage, which was accurate. Having wifi was a great convenience so we could plan our day and download directions and maps before heading out for the day. Overall our stay was okay. Location and wifi were the highlights.

Really enjoyed the rustic atmosphere of a small cabin in the woods. Very close to wolf watching in LaMar Valley. Greeted by Deana and then John who were there to help us as needed. We has an awesome adventure in Yellowstone.

Location ideal. Bed ideal and the price was competitive. Shower water temp was very difficult to regulate. I would have liked a few more outlets. One on both sides of bed and one at the table. Lighting could be improved as well.
