The Ashby | Hocking Hills, Tranquil Retreat

The cabin was perfect for the two of us - everything you would need! Hot tub was clean and hot upon arrival, which was really nice after a long drive. We lost power for a brief time and the hosts were right on contacting the power company and getting back to us with updates - power restored promptly as well! Highly recommend this property!

Cute little place for me and my husband to stay for the weekend. Wish we would have spent more time in our room rather than out exploring. I know some other reviews mentioned the WiFi- however it was nice to not have that. It forced us to be off our phones and together. We will def stay again.

Great cabin close to the park

Nice stay for a short vacation. We wish the cooking equipment was in better condition. The fireplace kept us nice and toasty on the cold evenings.

My spouse and I had such a great time! This place was absolutely perfect! Everything was so clean and well decorated. The cabin heat and cooling system works perfectly! Can’t wait to visit again!

Very clean little house. Design/shape of the house is so smart because it creates privacy on the porch. The house and property had everything we wanted for a short weekend getaway in Hocking Hills. We spent most of our time outside hiking, but it was nice to come back to a clean, modern house with a hot tub and fire pit. The location is excellent. The grounds are nice. Highly recommended.

Pros: The cabin itself is gorgeous, the area is very quiet and the host is very responsive.Cons: the tub would fill with about 4-5 inches of water when you showered, there were stink bugs constantly coming out around the wood stove and in our opinion the bed was too soft. We ended our 2 night getaway short and left early. I personally would not stay here again.

The cabin was as pictured, very relaxing and cozy. Kitchen is well supplied for a short stay. Drive is anywhere from 20-30 mins from nearby attractions. Overall pretty clean, but the plumbing seemed slow (bathtub, kitchen sink slow to drain) which I think lead to flies in the drains...there were a lot of flies when we first arrived. Maybe it had sat empty for a while? Other than that we would stay here again.

Small but very efficient. Everything was clean but but there were some deferred maintenance but otherwise just what we needed.

The place was as pictured. Inside was clean. Did not use hottub. The water was low and the hot tub had a weird odor. It would have been nice to have the outside area cleaned off (chairs/porch)

It was an absolutely amazing getaway and we had a blast staying here. So serene and peaceful, amazing location, and cozy vibes all weekend. Super clean, management was amazing at communication, and we were left with absolutely no questions at any point. My only slight gripe was with how steep the gravel roadway was, the ruts in the slope made it very difficult to get up, but ither than that we will absolutely consider staying here again!!

The experience overall was incredible. It was the first trip to Hocking Hills and it did not disappoint. That being said I will always leave honest feedback to an organization. The cabin was really cozy and comfortable. We had everything that we needed from the time we arrived until the time that we left. It was great to be able to unplug and get away from the noise of electronics. They even offered curbside delivery of firewood for the evening. I would recommend this site to others. There were a few things that needed attention though just from a perspective of someone that manages buildings for a living. First the front door caught on the frame up at the top making it hard to open and close. The shower didn't drain while showering making you have to stand in a few inches of water while you were in there. I bought drain cleaner and got it to function for the time we were there. It's understandable that the hot tub requires more attention given the area. However, the water was green/brown. We used it once but foamed up really bad and was just not something we hoped for. Lastly, the road up to the cabin was in bad shape. It was a gravel road and I realize that it wasn't paved, however, I've worked with gravel driveways and grading and conditioning it regularly would prevent the large holes and unnecessarily poor condition for guests needing to traverse it. Overall, it was a great experience and would recommend it!

I wish they had WiFi but I know they are working on it. I would recommend a second frying pan to make cooking breakfast quicker. I think the place was nicely decorated and clean. The bed was very comfortable.

Overall, pleasant stay. The driveway to the property is definitely in need of some maintenance.

We enjoyed our 2 days and nites at the cabin, the bed was very comfortable - bath and shower very nice.. kitchen was clean and properly furnished..hot tub was very nice also.Only drawback was the organization of the outside area needs to be made more appealing and not so muddy.Other than that we enjoyed it very much..hopefully you are able to get wifi in the campground as to planning the days events have to be looked at way down the road

Loved the solitude of the place. While we were initially a bit concerned when we found out they were still in the process of getting internet, it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. It gave my wife and me the opportunity to truly reconnect and enjoy focused, quality time together—without all the usual distractions. Sometimes, unplugging is exactly what you need. A wonderful weekend getaway!

We loved our stay, the place was warm and inviting. Loved all the windows and the hotel was the best part. We will definitely stay here again.

We enjoyed everything about our stay!

We enjoyed the hilltop location in the woods. The stars were amazing to see at night on this property. The wood-burning stove was delightful to use during our winter stay. The kitchen supplies were adequate. There was a slight fragrance to the linens, but otherwise no overt smells. We were able to make calls with our Verizon carrier. We will consider it again for future trips.

Secluded, nice place, comfortable bed!

The only reason I’m not giving 5/5, is because the shower takes a very long time to drain. When we showered, we were standing in 4-5” of water. Not very pleasant. Everything else was perfect.

Beautiful little get-away, serene location. May need AWD vehicle to access.

The cabin was very clean and well thought out. The night stars were amazing. It was wonderful to just unplug and detach from the world.

We had a great experience overall at the Ashby. The cabin was just as described and the place was perfect to disconnect and unwind as a couple. The cleaning people were there when we first arrived and they did a great job making the place shine and making it comfortable. My only complaint would be the hot tub was over chlorinated to the point you couldn’t use the jet feature. But it did work as described and still was a nice feature to get in and soak after hiking.

The Ashby was extremely accommodating and clean. Full service kitchen, it had everything I needed to cook. The cabin has plenty of room to move around and even has a wood burning fireplace. The bedroom is large, comfortable and has a king size bed. Management was easy to get a hold of when I had a question and they responded within a timely manner. I would recommend labeling all cabins and please folks do not drive on the foot path!

Property was on a very steep hill that was all gravel, a little bit of a job for my car to make up. There was no wifi which we weren’t aware of until we got our check in instructions. Almost every blanket/towel/ pillow had some sort of stain on it. One even looked like it might have been blood that they tried to wash out. The cabin wasn’t lit up at all or labeled so it was a little hard to find in the dark on the first night. Was a little disappointed too when I went to use a kitchen knife and it had old food dried on it. The area was nice and quiet and relaxing outside and it was cozy on the inside. Was just bummed we paid 1500 for 3 nights and that was our experience. The owners however were very nice and respond quickly.

It was just what the Mrs. and I needed. beautiful interior, comfort and elegant, yet simple and peaceful. the outside area is remote with a great view and all the amenities like fire a pit, and grill. the hot tub was amazing. the other cabins were a little closer than I thought based on the site photos...but still plenty of privacy. would defiantly recommend and we'll be going back, hopefully this spring. solid 9.5 out of 10!!

The cabin was clean. The sheets smelled good. The bed was very comfortable. But that was all we really liked about it. Would not stay there again.

The Ashby was a perfect cozy cottage for two. The house was fully appointed with everything we needed to cook a little and relax for a few days. It was nice to have the hot tub to relax after a day of hiking and the fire pit for roasting marshmallows. We will definitely stay again.

Had a great stay. The check in process is a bit confusing. I think some cabin signs would be nice so you know which cabin is yours . Also the unit we stayed at was lacking a lot of gravel so it was very muddy at our cabin. The inside was great clean and neat but the add said WiFi and there was none. Also the lack of TV was a bit surprising but it was cool to disconnect!!
