Sweet Huckleberry Cottage on Old Hatchery Lake

I couldn’t wait to write a review on Annette’s cabin. The cabin was very clean, warm and cozy! Very quick responses to any questions we had, and she even added planks to the dock when the high water came up so we could go fishing !

Amazing environment! This unique cabin had everything my boys and I needed for a quick, quiet getaway for fishing and spending time together. Water front dock was perfect for the kids to fish off of and they had a blast fishing and actually catching their hearts out. The second level loft beds provided plenty of space fos us all.

Cozy and inviting cabin. Comfortable and quaint. The best part for us was the dock, water, trails, and beach. We spent as much time as we could on the dock or in the water. And of course some late summer huckleberry picking!

What a cute and cozy cabin! Interesting architectural features allow fabulous view of lake. Our 4 year old grandson enjoyed the kids' size Foosball table and board games--his rules--particularly. We had everything we needed in this lovely spot. Could not have been cleaner. Charming.

It was out 4th visit to the cabin, and it is an amazing getaway. It is very quiet and relaxing. The hosts do everything to make visitors comfortable. There is all that visitors need for staying, and more.

So relaxing! Such a cozy place on a quoet private lake! There is swimming access just down the way that you don't have to use the dock for. Future travelers: My only complaint is this kitchen is NOT stocked at all. Most places have bare necessities including oil, seasonings, basic condiments, etc, but this place had nothing! Pack your own! Otherwise amazing cabin!!!

The lake is perfect! The house is quaint and cosy. We had a blast swimming and paddling around the peaceful lake.

Peaceful lake setting steps from the cabin. Lots of opportunities to watch eagles in action, watch dragonflies, and fish from the dock. The cabin is cozy and has all you need for a comfortable stay. You are truly unplugged at this cabin. If you are looking for a working vacation, this is not what you are looking for. If you are looking for a quiet place to unwind, this cabin has what you need.

Very nice getaway. Quite, clean, and a fun place for a couple to spend time. The lake is very nice with a great dock to relax on. Many great day hikes near by, as well as some great places to eat and visit in Hoodsport. If you had kids this place would be great to go. Lots of fun to be had.

We had a very nice stay here. The cabin and lake were just as I’d imagined. We did not want to leave! Kayaked around the lake, cooked delicious meals in the kitchen, and hiked around the area.

Got this as a gift for my Mom and Dad who love to just relax at the lake, fish and troll around on the boat. They said they just loved how private and quiet it was there! Cabin was really nice and remote, has enough space to take the family. Nice lame, caught some trout and did some swimming. We will definitely be booking again!

Wifi is noted as a listing amenity AND IT IS NOT. I chose this place based on 2 things--pet friendly and wifi. I wanted to have a working holiday with family, instead I spent 20minutes both ways driving into town and sitting at a shop for a couple hours to use their wifi instead of being with my family. In response the owner said: The company is run pretty much out of the country nowadays so you'd never know what they're going to do. No ma'am that is not why your listing is inaccurate. If the owner doesn't know how to update their listing the onus is on them, because people pay $100s &$1000ks to rent, to be extremely transparent at the very beginning of their flowery description stating: THERE IS NO WIFI, DESPITE WHAT THE AMENITY LISTING SAYS.We were locked out of the cabin on the 3rd day and sent a message to the owner. Luckily we kept trying the code for about 30 minutes and got in because the owner responded 3 hours later that this was a known issue and there was a trick to get in.That should have been part of the check in information and this would have easily been avoided. There are 4 houses on the very small lake (not 3 as the listing states) with a very large 5th house being built. There were only 2 families using the lake during out stay, which was cozy and not too crowded feeling. If all those houses were using the lake at the same time, it would be crowded, no way to avoid that and not a dream fishing retreat.The cabin is clean and cozy.

Grandfather & grandson spent a few days bonding. From hiking, fishing, kayaking to smores on the open fire..... the time was enjoyed & will be remembered through the years!

We love staying at this wonderful cabin. The owner is wonderful to work with. Everything you could want in the kitchen, super comfy beds. Peaceful and quiet setting. To make things even better my spouse caught 6 trout. Very blessed to have found this cabin.

The lake was amazing after being out in the hot sun for hours skydiving.

Another July 4th here at the cabin, another great time. Gorgeous weather. Great fishing. Kayaking was so relaxing. Some cool books to read. Gorgeous flower arrangement and decor to celebrate the holiday. Just what we needed.

This property is AMAZING! Clean, cute, quiet and has everything you could need. We stayed two nights in the house and it could not have been a better stay. The home is much larger than it looks, has every thing you could need and was super clean. The lake is perfect, clean, clear and full of fish. My four year old daughter caught a trout on almost every cast! The neighbor Bob was super nice and invited us to come over to his dock so my daughter could watch him feed the fish, that was super sweet of him and she loved it. This is one of those I gave it 5 stars cause that is the highest option kind of places. I can not recommend this enough, its just amazing. Annette is an amazing host, and was extremely kind and gracious. The Apperson Family.

The cabin and lake are very nice. We enjoyed our weekend stay relaxing on the dock (when it was warm) and inside (when the weather turned cold) reading, doing one of their puzzles, etc. The kitchen had everything we needed. (Guests should note there is spotty cell service :)

The cabin is well organized and very clean. The rain was a problem but plenty of videos on hand to watch.
